Funny it was a wet year for you and a very dry fall for us, since August no rain

So helpful, thank you. We’ve just purchased a smallholding in Lincolnshire and have started a UA-cam channel to chart our journey - been watching your channel for a while now and picked up so many brilliant tips for things we want to incorporate here - including making leaf mold now! 🥰🥰

That’s brilliant to hear I’ll go take a look at your channel, what size is your holding?

Thanks - really useful to see the comparisons. I make leaf mould each year in an open bay with 3 pallet sides. It takes 2 years before its properly broken down - good to see you have similar results. Well done being self-sufficient with compost. It's taking me a few years. Hopefully next year I won't need to buy any 🤞🤞🤞

It is nice when you get self reliant with compost, at least you know what’s in it, the amount of times I’ve pulled plastic out of brought compost is crazy

Another great watch. I remember watching you setting this test in the bags and hoping to see the results, perhaps the conclusion could be Old Father time is correct 🙂

If you ask me….adding grass clippings makes it a normal compost. Leaf mold is just leaves, nothing else. Thanks for a great clip.

That’s exactly what I mean, if you have a compost heap then why put grass in your leaf mold you might aswel put the leaves in the compost heap
Leaf mold should be just leaves

Interesting to see alternatives but I’ll stick to 3 wire mesh bays, fill one each year and do nothing till 4th year then use it. No turning, no additions, no work: but you do need room.

So made my 1st load leave mold, problem was I have a lot of pine trees and the feeder roots was feeding on my leave mold, it was a mess. How can a suburban person with these limitations do it.

I’ve had this in the past with compost piles and Woodchip piles, you can put weed fabric underneath to stop or limit roots but microbes and worms etc will still get in
