Ive been all over many channels and nearly everyone of them say that theyre composting videos do the best! Many of them say the same things. Id be interested to see someone think outside the box a little bit. For the extreme composters like myself. Diversity is key! Awesome video.
I wish I had the patience for leaf mold. I always start out a bin with just leaves, but I want compost before 1 to two years so I add coffee grounds to get it going. But it ends up being primarily leaf based compost.
Biology! The heat is generated by a microbial reaction. Carbon and nitrogen are sources of food for microscopic bacteria that live in tiny water molecules. This bacteria generates heat like you and me by moving and living. The heat is isolated because the material (leaves) is piled up and then released as I turn it. Because it's so cold here, this heat is visible in the air like our breath.
A combination of the leaf fungi and the thick pile. The fungi generate the heat as they break down the leaves and the big pile's size retains that generated heat.

Ah thank you Mr. Melly! I can not believe it either. Most people do not know the value in this type of organic material
That melly must be slappin these days?
Good video. I like the voice-over narration.
Thanks Joe! I am looking into a better quality mic for these types of videos. I enjoyed the process of making it.
Good video, sir. Inspires me to get into some leaf mould pretty soon. Thank you.👍

That sounds good to me! As long as your veggies grow happy and healthy, you're a winner in my book!
So cool to have a tractor for 2 acres!!! When will you start seeds? Do you grow alot of potatoes?
Seeds get started April 1 in the greenhouse. I try to get them in the ground/ beds 2nd week of may. Weather can be chilly though.
Where in Joisey?
Central New Joisey Middlesex County ;)
How'd the leaves get so hot being outside like that?
