    I would like to watch a video with the processing of 3d scans, for example, scans using revopoint mini, or something similar, their retopology and polygon reduction.. thanks for the lessons)) I think it would be very interesting...

      Yeah, I am planning a video about retopology, thanks for the suggestion!

    learned some really cool shortcuts in this one! Still quite new to modelling.
    Can someone tell me why I would use weighted subd instead of using control edges? Unsure when which approach is best

    • @polygonpen
      @polygonpen  6 місяців тому

      I use weights to lower down the density of the mesh, because I do this whenever I subdivide my mesh 1 time.
      You can also add control edges but you'll end up with more polygons especially around the sharp edges after you subdivide the mesh.

    Hey, what is you opinion on cad softwares, it seems that a lot of staff that you model, wold be easier to do in cad and remesh if needed

    • @polygonpen
      @polygonpen  6 місяців тому

      That process is not as easy and fast as it sounds; unfortunately, remesh methods are not that good or accurate. I find myself retoping CAD models by hand most of the time, like 90%. Also, topologoy skills are the foundations of a qualified 3D modeler; CAD tools are just side tools, and relying on them will make it really hard for you to find jobs. You can't put CAD models in your portfolio because you can't show the wireframes of the objects. One of the first things we did when we looked at the portfolios was to check the topology knowledge. I don't remember when we hired someone with low topology knowledge. So in short, if you want more job opportunities, you need to learn SubD.
      BTW CAD programs are justgreat, I want to improve myself on this field.

    Can you please do modeling for Iphone 15 pro max? I badly want to create a concept ad for it.. But I don't know how to model it with accuracy. Texture included

      I have a similar one on the channel.

    I just don't understand why you have to weight these edges and make editable the subdi

    • @polygonpen
      @polygonpen  5 місяців тому

      Whenever I subdivide my mesh (Making A Subd object editable), I use weights to make the edges sharp enough, you can also do this by adding supporting edges but adding supporting edges you will increase up the density of the mesh when you make it editable so to lower the desnity, I use weights.
