i dont think so, the point of Danny is to show the audience that the doctor is a general who leads his troops, albeit Moffat did this poorly, many of the remarks Danny makes throughout the season are supposed to build up to this moment (albeit done very poorly). However Moffat is really good at writing small moments of dialogue between characters especially the earlier scene where the Danny says "didnt one of those beautiful speeches disappear in the face of a tactical advantage"
In Danny and claras first scene he tried to explain to her what a soldier actually does, what a soldier actually is for. This is what he was talking about. 2 questions: 1) You just atomized roughly 65 billion corpses. What's that going to do to the atmosphere? 2) What do you do now with all the empty graveyards? Bulldoze and start over?
Boy that first season for Peter’s had a lot of soldier themed episodes, the mummy soldier, the Dalek soldier… that’s about all I can remember specifically, but I do remember soldiers being a big part for that season.
I've rewatched this scene several times over the years, and I only _just now_ noticed that the score is a slowed down and remixed version of 11's "madman in a box" theme. Huh.
I love how Missy is just snorting around and it's all like "okay just finish that i have more fucking things to do". Also, her sassy while Danny says he will burn is great. Michelle Gomez deserved better in this finale, glady she had a better spot in season 10.
It's easy to get bored when you know how something is going to turn out. The instant the Doctor threw the controller wristband to Danny, both the Doctor and Missy knew what he would probably do with it, and both of them knew there wasn't anything Missy could do to stop it. So, yeah, she was like, "just get on with it," because she knew she had already lost.
I have to agree. The 'love conquers all' thing is just becoming more and more frequent in New Who. Remember when we actually had do be smart and work out a way to defeat our enemies rather than just channeling emotions to kill them? Yeah, me too!
0saintclark0 that’s the problem, Moffat sees DW more like a fairy tale, fantasy series than a proper scifi one. Science is usually put aside in his run.
This is the sort of complexity I miss from the current Dr. Who series, and to an extent, Capaldi's last season. In one season, Danny Pink became a full fledged character, and had a better arc than even Clara ended up with. He constantly fought the Doctor on everything, and only tolerated him because of his love for Clara. He started as an awkward, clumsy love interest and became a vital element to defining Capaldi's first season as his opposite. A true companion who never wanted to travel with him ironically. Even Bill Potts never got this sort of arc, she barely had a life outside of the doctor which only made her feel more one dimensional. Nardole was a foil, but didn't really grow per se. He challenged him, but mainly as a surrogate for River most of the time. So sad he only stuck around for a season.
Danny Pink was right about calling Missy a lunatic and was glad that she couldn't stop him and an army of Cybermen under his command using that special bracelet to make them obey his command to save Earth.
I do love how *british* Danny’s military speech is. “Miserable lot” “this is not a good day”, the British military has been quoted as being a negative bunch of fuckers who work well and honestly, yeah, that fits the culture perfectly. There’s no glory to be had, no destiny to fight no grand scheme or anything of the sort. It is a JOB to be done, and it is a bad job, and he’s not gonna sugar coat, but needs must and they are tool that can be used. I know for Americans, and maybe other cultures too, this can be jarring because of the military celebration culture there, but our guys are just not so reverent of it all, most brits would call their service “a job” a good a bad a tough or fun whatever but a job. My mams old friend. Has quite a few many medals, some rather prestigious, where are they? Fuck knows, maybe the attic we aren’t *sure* but you know what he does treasure? A letter upon his resignation that detailed he was being rewarded for 35 years undetected crimes within military bounds, because he very much committed crimes, like breaking curfew, sneaking food etc etc and they never caught him. THAT is what he cherishes, being a cheeky lad getting away with shit. Danny here represents it well, boots on lads, breaks over time to do the slog. Permission to call your superior a bellend
Good thing that Missy didn't try to find anyone related to Danny Pink after he and an army of Cybermen under his command with a bracelet he was wearing to order them around saved the Earth from the Doctor's enemy of his own race.
Not even one mention of Rory or Amy Pond. They are dead and ended up as Cybermen exploding in the clouds. The one time the Cybermen were actually the good guys.
"Good morning. Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist, and should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on, we're going to survive.' Today we celebrate our independence day!" 1) You just atomized roughly 65 billion corpses.
"THEY FLY NOW!?"
"They fly now!"
--A Much Inferior Sequel Series
I have one question!
Do they fly?
An incredible and old chapter, the bracelet is cool 🫶
Tbqh i hate how often Moffat uses the "love conquers all" resolution. I want to see a little more sci fi fixes to problems.
I have to agree. The 'love conquers all' thing is just becoming more and more frequent in New Who. Remember when we actually had do be smart and work out a way to defeat our enemies rather than just channeling emotions to kill them? Yeah, me too!
94830 086436 Here's an interesting thought if you where put in a device that REMOVES emotions do you think the power of love would do anything?
0saintclark0 that’s the problem, Moffat sees DW more like a fairy tale, fantasy series than a proper scifi one. Science is usually put aside in his run.
isn't the point that cybermen are void of emotion and that emotion is the only way to beat them
Pew pew
"You will sleep safe tonight"
I love he's not supposed to have emotions here but that speech sounded like it had emotion
this episode was amazing but kate’s dad saving her takes the cake
Such power! Such Majesty!
Danny Pink was right about calling Missy a lunatic and was glad that she couldn't stop him and an army of Cybermen under his command using that special bracelet to make them obey his command to save Earth.
Amy and Rory in Cyberman Suits: 👁️👄👁️
Love is a promise.
And the promise of a soldier.
Nice little link. An army willing to fight and die for that which they love.
You have to wonder how Earth even has an ozone layer left with the number of times they've burned the atmosphere...
“THE PROMISE OF A SOLDIER” Fuck yeah!!!
Love is not an emotion , Love is a promise and he will never hurt her
Good thing that Missy didn't try to find anyone related to Danny Pink after he and an army of Cybermen under his command with a bracelet he was wearing to order them around saved the Earth from the Doctor's enemy of his own race.
This guy straight up screen recorded and survived the BBC, while I heavy filtered it and still got caught
When doctor who was good to watch
Those cybermen are the people from the past that lived and died
This is the second time the sky was set on fire
Thank you for uploading. :3
(Awesome moment.)
(Pause.)
"We-
That’s why the CyberBrigadier was still around after this. He outranked Sergeant Pink.
Can we take a minute to appreciate the music... fantastic
"This is not the order of a General. Nor the Whim of a Lunatic!"
"Excuse Me?!"
lol
Love is the strongest promise you can make. And self love (not selfish love) is the highest promise you can make to yourself.
Would have liked Danny to stay, liked his character
Me too but this exit scene was worth missing him in the future.
We're going to live on, we're going to survive.' Today we celebrate our independence day!"

Bill Pullman already had a role in the who-verse.
And he wasn’t a good guy.

that was a fun movie!
Jamie Olberding torchwood miracle day.
He plays a paedophile child killer.
@@julieeverett7442 Thank you.
Poor Missy, first she has to deal with the Doctor turning her idea around and now she has to deal with the whole "Soldier Speech"
Yes the poor Master. Thwarted once again, by the Doctor, from ruling the Universe.
@@Nomoreidsleft #TheMasterDidNothingWrong
the doctor doesnt need an army ..... no just kamikaze pilots
And an ideologically aligned subordinate to do the speech and give the orders so he can keep his hands technically clean and keep talking about love, probably.
@@neolexiousneolexian6079 One thing I do appriciate about the RTD era is they called the doctor out on that a few times.
@@neolexiousneolexian6079 It's mercy to kill a Cyberman. All of these people are / were dead and are now reanimated as empty husks. The Season 10 finale explains why the Doctor hates the Cybermen so much.

this is NOT a new thing! I was not a fan of Danny, but this was a very worthy send off for him!
Its weird that this isnt the first time the doctor lit the atmosphere on fire lol.
0:45 but it will be enough to save Clara
god this clip was perfectly cut
I always hear Danny's speech at the end of endgame when Tchalla shows up. "We are the fallen"
Hello from Dean, real Dean.... Also known as Dr of War from DR WHO. I am pensioned MI-6 00 special branch - no joke! We are allowed 2 reveal ourselves once pensioned eh. Love ur love of DR who & Supernalural - bolh based on me in real life! keep hope alive eh ! Never give up give in or surrender!

I gotta salute Danny for that.
cybermen have rocket feet? since when?
Song at 1:43? pleeaasee!!
So Danny did the Poison Sky move. nice
I used to hate these Cybermen designs, but I now view them as my favorite design, the epitome of Cybermen evolution
Looking back, thatwas a well done scene. Just wish it would have been in a better season.
Wish we could have seen these cyber men used more in this episode
Danny Pink: "This is Earth's darkest hour!"
Me: *Glances sideways at "the End of Time."*
2:05, thats a fake image of australia, where are the barbeques and the digerydoos.
it was here that everything went wrong for the capaldi doctor. After this, he loses one of his best recent companions.
2:03 where is that
Yeah, I wonder
The doctor: If i had a nickel every time I'd set the sky on fire I would have 2 nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
(it may have happened more times. but 2 immediately come to mind)
Danny's speech got me. Oh man... If I were Clara I would be balling. So sad!
Wouldn’t the heat from that just kill everything on the surface anyways?
