Great review; I was thinking of getting a deck bag but I really like the pockets on this (and the ability to easily carry the bag while getting to the water). I'll be checking this bag out. Plus then I'd have room for my calculator! :o)
Yes and yes! IMO the deck bag is great for longer paddle trips with close and accessible launches like a dock vs a hike into the forest. It's key to have easy access to whats inside but the deck bag bottle holders aren't great for large water bottles as you saw in the video! 😆 Bringing your calculator is important! lol
Great question! I find the main compartment for both of them equally waterproof if they are sealed properly. However, I haven’t fully submerged either of them.
Good question! But that’s a hard one to answer without knowing what type of paddling you’re doing and what you’re putting in the bag. If you have a dock or an easy way to launch then the deck bag is more convenient to access. I love using my deck bag for longer paddle and putting a cooler bag with drinks and food in it for a picnic. The backpack is the best when I’m hiking to a launch spot or traveling as it has multiple uses. Does this help?
@@PaddleAdventurer I’d be using it for day paddles mostly, the majority of our spots to paddle are pretty easy access and not requiring a long hike in. The deck bag sounds like the better match, wanting something for holding some smaller things and my lunch bag for my paddle munchies. Thank you for the great content!

I'm looking for a paddle board carry bag the folds into a small form so i can take with me when remote paddle boarding. I hate leaving my bag on shore when I go out.
It’s a beauty bag! The straps are good for getting wet but I wouldn’t be loading the bag heavily and going for a long hike with it. Especially not with bare shoulders.

outer zip pocket is shower proof. For 100% waterproofing, use main inside compartment.
