You can avoid the glide by changing the pitch of the steps after the initial "highlighted" step. Let's say the first step is highlighted and set to d, then change the next unlit step to d as well. Change all of them to d until the next highlighted step.
Doesn't seem to work unfortunately. For example, if you populate every step with the same note then change one step to a different note, there's still a slide between them.
@@Chasing_Thoughts Thanks. I was adjusting 1-2 together, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe it's just the way the engine is set up? Seems a strange choice.
@@hujuu yeah afaik slide is always on. You can mitigate it with the tip above and also by messing with attack/release times, but I don't know of a way to entirely stop slide. You can also just put different notes on different parts, if you have any parts free in your kit.
Thanks for this video. Can't believe I've owned the Volca for several months now and didn't know about this function. Does this mean you could use a MIDI keyboard like the Keystep to play melodic lines in a conventional way?
With an external midi keyboard was always possible to play exact notes as they were already defined by the keys. This Qpi function allows only exact standard notes to be played/selected when rotating the onboard pitch knob (instead of all intermediate sound when Qpi is Off) , allowing specific melodic phrases to be created or programmed with the unit itself only
Anyone else having issues with getting per step pitch sequencing to work? I tried holding down the step and editing the sound but it keeps changing the pitch for all of the steps
Volca drum should be renamed volca omni. A hardware synth with 2x6 voices, pitch quantization, 16 step sequencer, per-step active sequence settings, choke group, and physical modeling for only $150... wow
He didnt answer, but the wave guide is more like a really tight, slight delay, not one with a lot of of tail…theres two modes, “string”, which will give kind of a bowed sounding attack with a tight and short tail, and “tube” which kinds of give it more of a metallic, almost 3 dimensional sound, very clangy, with almost no tail. So, in saying that, it does kind of affect envelope, but not in a way you might be thinking. It kind of has its own pitch thing going on, but more drastic with changing sound then overall pitch. I think the idea is to make your sounds more actual sounding, even if its a sound no ones ever heard before. I probably made this more confusing lol.
Fuuuuuuu....! Best volca gets even closer to perfect! I had no idea, thanks for the video.
haa ok 2024 that 114 is still the most recent update version, and its working! very nice! 🎵🎵🎵
自分のはまだアップデートしていなかった!参考にさせてもらいます!thanks a lot!
Wonderful video! Thanks, man. This helps me. I’m more interested in minimalist slow tempos and ambient
Great explanation and nice tune! Thanks
Wow! Thanks! Excellent! Hurrah!
This is amazing, thanks so much man! I will be able to get much more out of the Volca Drums now!
Just picked mine up, Thanks!
Great tutorial and very nice jam.
Fabulous. Thanks. Inspirational.
Good job

@@hujuu make sure your adjusting both layer 1 and 2. This helps a bit.

great! thanks!
I found that you can set for every step s precisely every parameters
If i do it the upgrade the kit and song saving before in the volca drum can be canceled ?
That Baleric slide at 4:35

It won't work if motion sequencing is off
@@BrokenRecord_TV hehe thanks, my issue is that I thought it was on but it wasn’t

Let me know please. Does it correspond to notes from midi keyboard? Midi chart is messy, i cant understand it((
WOW man, great video, thanks. Do you know if the wave guide affects pitch? And envelope?

Is it possible to sequence notes from external device?
thanks!
God bless ya!
Thanks. That's really useful. What's causing the glide?
It seems like that element could easily be controlled by the modulation and/or envelope parameters of each layer. I'm very interested in this!
you need to edit every pitch note (it doesnt matter if they are triggered or not)
anyways, theres still a bit a glide, seems to be just like this, perhaps in a future update this might be also an option to turn on'off
different pitch of the neighboring step I suppose
Trick in 4.30 not working in my volca drum. I have install 1.14 firmware. Any suggest?
Same issue
use the cable within the volca package, or use any mini jack stereo cable. it has to be stereo
Have you tried toggling on save program before changing the steps?
To edit each step, just make sure the motion is set to "on" -> press FUNC + part 12
Enjoy!
@@guitdafunkadelik thank you sooooo much!!!!! I nearly ragequitted because I could only tune All steps at the same time!
