I suspect we will never see a modern commercial showing kids playing with their toys outside in the dirt with sticks and rocks as accessories.
Who knows?
Must have taken a while to dig up a big hole in the sand and set up all those sticks for a cage
Best way to play with them.
Nope, because the trendies don't want kids getting dirty anymore.
Rancor and Optimus Prime were the only 2 toys I ever wanted as a kid I never got.
This hurt me inside thinking about me having both and someone else didn’t ☹️ massive f my guy.
CaptainXJ I NEVER got the Jabba the Hutt set, I wanted so badly, so Bib Fortuna always had to be in charge, awaiting Jabba's return. It was in the vintage toy shop in the window once, but by the time my mother got there someone had bought it. My brother hated the Jabba the Hutt sequence so much we played a creative game as little boys, whereby the imperial fleet led by Darth Vader invades Tatooine to destroy the palace and rid the world of his empire. Pretty creative idea. I had to set up vantage points of defense, in an obviously destined to lose battle, while the important action figures hid in the palace. Set up gunners and foot soldiers on the mini sail barge to defend the gates of the palace. When the initial attacks from the Tie fighters were successfully defended, with multiple casualties the imperial fleet descended with air strikes knocking out the defenses I had set up. Bib Fortuna then requested help from Boba Fett who I had escape safely on slave I, when the palace refused to concede defeat my brother had the imperial fleet order a death star attack, called it off, and then just bombarded everything so the 'important' characters from Jabba's palace fled immediately on the sail barge, and the rest were obliterated. AWWW Kids don't play like that anymore
@@patriceaqa288I'm still a fan as an adult . I got into collecting Funko pops. Of course, there's a huge variety of important characters. I bought a Rancor w/Luke and slave oola(3piece)last summer. It's super cool 😎 It's worth more than the $30 I paid for it.
“It feels like rubber because it’s obviously rubber, Kenner was weirdly proud on that” that’s probably not far from the truth, that puppet for the Rancor was most likely made from rubber…
May the 4th be with you
Strong with all The Force is!
@Stop Banningme You know Star Wars Day! No offense but you have been living under a rock.
@Stop Banningme Star Wars!
@Stop Banningme Do yon know what it is)
My favorite is the vintage Rancor. I remember walking about a mile to Target and buying it! Ah memories!
Fun fact
Jabba's Rancor is named Pateesa :) It means "friend" in Huttese.
One of the hard disks on my main computer is named Pateesa :D
@@MightyJabbasCollection Cool ^__^
Makes it super sad
When I was a little kid the Rancor was the first action figure I remember really wanting. Return of the Jedi came out when I was 3 and is the first movie I remember seeing. My parents didn't have a lot of money and told me if I saved my pennies I could get one. I had a bank mostly filled to that purpose, but for one reason or another I never ended up getting the one at Kaybee Toys. I did come come across one in a second hand store a few years later. I was so happy to finally have one, but what stands out in my memory about the figure is almost immediately he fell over and broke part of his face off with one of the big front teeth that I kept having to re-superglue. Also eventually one of those elastic bands broke and his arm fell off. I had him around like that for a long time, but don't remember what eventually happened to him. I also still have the Power of the force Rancor and out of the package he never wanted to stand up the body is too heavy for those joints.
Still my favorite Star Wars monster!
Glad my original Kenner Rancor is still in my collection
I remember being fascinated with the rancor when I was a kid, I was always searching for rancor toys.
Vintage Rancor all the way
I remember really liking that 2nd Rancor when I was a kid 'cause he fit in well with my Jurassic park dinos.
Rancor Month! Great idea! Owned the original, loved it, sold it to an old school chum for her cousin. Owned the POTF2 one, not so fond of it (no, it's not just you, the bloody thing was never good at standing), gave it to my godsons. Own the modern Jabba's Rancor and Felucian Battle Rancor, absolutely love 'em, and I'm not parting with those until I freakin' DIE.
Merry Star Wars Day everybody! 😄
Great video! I'm English, so have an old Palitoy Rancor. It's marked "L.F.L 1984, G.M. U.K Ltd" under the left arm.
One thing that I enjoy about this toy is that you can see the sculptor's fingerprints, on the Rancor's tail :)
The Rancor was awesome. Thanks.
may the 4th be with you
Rancor may, best time of the year
i never knew kenner made a rancor
The original classic Kenner for the win! 👍
I had the Tri-Logo Vintage Rancor when I was a kid. It is the same as the Kenner release but the longer box is also narrower so you had to force the Rancor back in as it had no space around it.
The Mighty Rancor Collection
The Power of the Force Rancor really speaks to me for some reason. I think it's those paint apps. He looks a lot like a Jerry to me.
Thank you thank you thank you for doing this video, I've been wanting this since the 3D Printer Amanaman video, THANK YOU!!!!
May the fourth be with you
mate
Despite being a 40 year old toy it is probably my favorite Rancor model.
Love the original figure too as I had it as a kid. But I do like the more detailed Black Series release too....
yes it is rancor month but still may the 4th be with you
After the last Episode of Book of Boba Fett, Rancors sure did become a hot topic again, and super expensive as well!
May the 4th be with you!
MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!!!!
May the fourth be with you always
im just wondering why "Disney" hasnt done an ORIGIN STORY of the Rancor Monster yet, lol
what a classic (great channel !)
Thank you for this video. It is very informative. I would say the Hasbro 2007 Rancor is the best. It is different from the one in "Return", but is very large and detailed and scary looking!!
Another cool video, thanx man! Did you see the limited rancor statue that Adam Savage has recently reviewed?
I did (and I knew about it when they were up for preorder) but $3,000 was too much for me. A really awesome piece though, and even though I don’t have one it will find its way into a video later this month
Luke was a PIMP in that commercial.
They got the head size right on the third figure of the Rancor...👌🏼💯✔
I still have mine from the 80's
my only problem with the rancor toy was nobody could go to his belly.
I had the vintage Kenner Fig. I got it marked down, or rather my parents did, for 6 bucks, sometime during the 80's. its def. the original rancor packaging from a department store.
This video reminds me of that Rancor evolution video by Micahc6v8 10 years ago, and I love the nostalgia feel of this video
man that was a great video!
My favorite is the first.
Man, what's up with the constant 1 dislike??
Anyways, great video. Love the design of the Rancor.
bots man the bots
Why has every lego item that has anything to do with Jabba become so expensive?
I haven't really paid close attention to the secondary market recently. Are they more expensive than older LEGO Star Wars sets in general?
@@MightyJabbasCollection Jabba minifigs go for no less than 40 dollars, while his sets are all above 350 at the very least. Sad for someone who just wants that beautiful fig.
You're talking about the new version? I suppose high prices on the secondary market are the reason Chinese bootleggers are making figures like Jabba. It is too bad the real thing isn't a little more affordable
@@MightyJabbasCollection yeah. The old one is around 25. I think the new one has gone quite crazy. It is almost like admiral Thrawn. I don't like the trend of the secondary lego market becomming unaffordable.
Well all the creatures/droids from that sequence were memorable.
Got him for my birthday and the rebo max band
Good times
Back in the early 90's me and a couple friends started a thrash/death metal band . We chose the name Rancor for both the SW creature and the actual definition . At the time McD's had the SW digipets in their happy meals and one was the rancor , we were able to each get one and the few fans we had went nuts trying to find more of them. It was a fun summer , then the drummer went to college and that was the end of Rancor , that digipet should still be around the house somewhere .
Interesting, but are you sure McDonalds gave away Star Wars gigapets in Happy Meals? The only ones I’ve heard of were standalone products that were quite a bit more expensive than Happy Meal toys: mightyjabba.com/2011/04/15/star-wars-giga-pets-rancor-by-tiger-electronics/
@@MightyJabbasCollection This was 92 maybe 93 , it may have been the gigapet but I don't remember it having the Rancor on the top and it couldn't have been 97 as I was somewhat indisposed from 95-02 .
Well I’d like to know more if you could find out the details
@@MightyJabbasCollection I'd like to remember more myself now, gonna have to give the guitar player a call and see what he remembers about them , he was a much bigger fan and mostly his idea with the name and all.
My rancor (the middle one on the thumbnail) is hanging by his one remaining hand from a curtain rod in my new home.
One of my 1st decorations.
Vintage did everything right.
Even as someone obsessed with potf 2 line, I had to pick up and go with the vintage Rancor as my go-to Rancor.
Paint and airbrushing ruins the translucent and glossy quality of the Rancor's skin.
Like with the original Jabba, some of the vintage gross-like monsters in Star Wars were done a certain justice that the 90's line lost by making them soft and clean looking.
80's toyline: Dingy monsters, clean ships.
90's toyline: Clean monsters, dingy ships.
00's toyline: Realistic, but just showered about 10 hours ago.
10's toyline: Any kind of version of any type of toy you could possibly want! Please keep buying our Star Wars again!!
I like the power of the force one. Just needs a slightly smaller head/face I think.
I still have my rancor toy! I wish I had the box
7:00 ... It does look amateuristic. One might even say the person who did the airbrushing was a rancor amateur.
HA!
For some reason it always looked like the vintage one has white eyes with tiny black pupil, so it looks extra goofy. Personally I never grew up with any rancor, although my older brother did get the new one back when it was a target exclusive.
Good video
The reason why the raincor. was falling down is because he was tired
Save the Rancors!
It's kind of a weird evolution, the Kenner one has really good proportions, the second one has a really big head and the last one has it's arms too large. 🤣
私初代のケナー社の「ランカー」を持っています!
これ自慢です!!!
この動画、最後の「三世代ランカーのフィギュア」の三つ画像、とっても貴重ですね!!!
The second rancor figure you shod looks like bobas rancor
Awesome, just bought that new deluxe book of boba at a discounted 20 bux, which is still too much for a tvc, but at least it’s better than the 28-30$ price it originally was. Now I’m trying to track down a rancor for that boba, just like in the show
I've got the Kenner and POTF versions - The Legacy one is a bit too expensive on the secondary market for me - so hopefully a new one will get made one day ?
What about the new $350 kick in the sack haslab debacle
Poor Rancor! He was just doing what apex predators do and he got a dang door slammed on his head for it #rancorlivesmatter
Let's don't. Can still think of things I would rather see done. I will buy mine once they go to clearance.
I had the first as a kid😂
Where is the Kenner logo on the rancor monster
What about the tru exclusive rancor set that I have . 3.75 black series . Ok you just mentioned it
January The 30th be with you
Please give me that Wankel I never had a winkle before and I’m actually a hooch fan of Star Wars song thank you for showing me that
cool
they still got the scale size of the figure wrong..
I can't ever seeing myself being able to get a Hasbro one. But I do have a 3D printer. Is there a good stl. file out there to make one 3 3/4 scale? Thanks
Desert Octopus does have a model for the Hasbro one although it will probably be a bit challenging to print at full size
@@MightyJabbasCollection thanks I will look for it
It sounded like you said it even has movable breasts for a second there.
That would be Jabba
None really nail it. The newest one has fantastic sculpting but looks like it was dipped in a bucket of black wash. I agree the least impressive is the "chubby" PotF one. If they rerelease that last one with a more brown/orange color that'd be great.
The one on the left is my least favorite also
And now i am high and i wish i didnt throw it away😂😢
Why can I hear breathing through-out the video?
Power of the force version looks WORLDS better than that poop looking vintage original (it literally looks like poop)
never happy with toys are directed for kids, reason can be 500 dollars collector edition for adults. 2008 was better.
Thumbs up if you were disturbed by the snorting breathing sounds.
Rancors are native to the planet Dathomir where Darth Maul is from.
“You’re standing on the....”
The vintage tri logo box is so dope. I’m trying to find one.
The Rancor should have been released in the vintage collection series which came out around. 2011.
Almost 40 years later and I still have a Jawa stuck inside my Rancor.
Entertainment earth has a rebo max teekie $39 plus shipping though.
Rancor a must for building Jabba’s palace great video as always
Death remembrance day in my country due to WWII
I love this theme! It's going to be a great month!
The 3rd figure looks like a retool or at least heavily based off a vinyl model kit from AMT/ Ertl that I had many years ago.
I don’t think it’s really related since they are very different in size, but I will be covering that kit later on
I love rancors!
In your closing shot, I actually like the one on the left. The one on the right is WAY too dark and the face looks like a mandrill for some reason...
It is too dark for sure, although it seems like the one that I still have in the “Jabba’s rancor pit” box is a little better in the sense.
@@MightyJabbasCollection The dry brushing makes it look winter themed. Looking forward to more videos!
I like the original the best but the newest one has some really neat features!
I had the first one as a kid and I remember seeing the potf one from the '90s, which looks pretty good, I think the force unleashed is the absolute best with the purple stripes.
There was already a paint variant during the first release of the latest rancor….the lighter sandy drybrushing was I believe the rarer version
May the 4th be with you
Love it and still need one
My cousins back in the 80s had the Kenner Rancor and they'd stuff jawas down its gullet and piss off my uncle who had to open it up by removing all the screws.
I sold the rancor with the stripes for £50 . Technically £40. Can someone tell me if that was a good deal?!
I’m staying w the vintage one , l got one in the mid 80’s but by that time l was 22 yrs of age and basically was just a collector at that point ,but l do miss them more simple more affordable days ,now everything doubled triple in cost 💲 and vintage item are an arm and leg
