It's not a good example of human intelligence at all. I'm not saying 1/2 of all humans are stupid, only that it seems ALL humans have this poor reasoning or manipulation by others (could be fear, family believing, location etc etc etc). But, yeah, theists will come up with some other excuse, or just ignore it, or say that we humans are simply incapable of understanding god's ways. You may not get through to them during the conversation but it just might get them to THINKING about their beliefs. Second: if there is a god, have you checked if its the god you worship or not? Most theists havent even gotten the first step.
It’s even worse than that. Parachutes exist. I can inspect them prior to the jump. I can witness other skydivers wearing them. I can visit the websites of the manufacturers of the parachutes. I can watch UA-cam videos of other skydivers using them. A theist would say that wings will magically appear out of your shoulders at a particular altitude or something equally ridiculous. @@walnutoil100 Nope. Due to the lack of evidence for any god or gods, I am an agnostic atheist; this means while I cannot say for certain that a god or gods exist or do not exist, there is not enough evidence to warrant a belief and so I do not worship any supposed god or gods. Sure, a god of some sort could exist such as that of deism, but I have no evidence that any of the major world religions are correct, nor most of the smaller cults and religions that I've heard of. But hey, if you've got testable, falsifiable, repeatable, peer-reviewed evidence for any god or gods, feel free to leave it here, I'm open to changing my mind if someone can actually give that evidence. Did a double-take there. I thought that instead of "If we try to define God, and one of the things God is is infinite", it was "... things God is is naked...". Just following this guy's logic: So how do we know God is naked? Well if he's a God, he doesn't need clothes, that just makes sense. Ergo, naked things are Gods :P That was fun, let's try another characteristic. God has no gender or reproductive organs, cause it just makes sense that they don't need them. Ergo, God is an infertile non-binary.
You are clearly a heretic. God was assigned female at birth and had functional reproductive female organs, because he was able to parthenogenetically bring life. But he identifies himself as a male, and we should respect that and his transgender status. All worship our aro-ace bipolar (tripolar?) trans male God!
@@Julian0101 Then I have a choice: 1) Go naked all the time and be a full god. 2) Get naked only part of the time and remain a demi-god. 3) Never get naked again and become totally mortal. 4) Continue to not believe and not be taken for a fool. I choose to take your question/suggestion in the way that I think you meant it and we can have a laugh at the believer's expense.
Sometimes, people who have only ever put their arguments to those who are either uninformed or don’t care, should think long snd hard before presenting those ‘arguments’ to those who know what they’re talking about.
The concept of this belief has to be introduced to humans too. A child will not naturally come up with the idea of putting a tooth under their pillow at night and a fairy entering the room and leaving money. Islam/Christianity/Hinduism etc are the same. Someone started the myth thousands of years ago and have somehow managed to keep it going through indoctrination until now. It only works if they start with children first.
You can always tell when people write down bullet points for their argument and assume those bullet points won’t be questioned. Their depth of thought is just one level deep, that’s it.
The scariest thought that I've recently is this: As Christians, we say "God can't fail", but is that only because we won't allow him to? Example: If someone prays for a surgery to go successfully, and it does, then God's responsible. If it does not, then God "knows best", so the outcome is still what he wanted. The prayer(s) that go unanswered are always chalked up to "His will".

If you come across a trail of gingerbread crumbs in a forest... A theist, like this caller, immediately assumes that there must be a gingerbread house inhabited by a wicked witch and that it therefore proves the veracity of his childhood storybook. Like I was saying in my main comment on here, that's a great way to be swindled. You shouldn't believe first. A smart person will always be skeptical and question almost everything except for the obvious (such as the geometry of the Earth).
Yet another: "let's see if we can wedge god into scientific methods/ theories/etc..." At least he (kinda) concluded his argument wasn't valid... I'll give him THAT
It appears to me that faith is only presented by a believer as the basis for their belief only after someone challenges the belief, either with facts or arguments that bring in to question the validity of the belief. No one STARTS with faith. There is always some experience or reasoning, if only as simple as "Well, that's how I was brought up", that forms the basis for the person to initially believe whatever it is they believe. When faith is asserted as the basis for some belief then there is always the question, "How, from among the infinite number of possible beliefs, did you determine that this particular belief, and ONLY this particular belief, can validly be based on faith, requiring absolutely no actual evidence or valid logic supporting it?". And that question is never answered by the believer, precisely because they HAVE no answer, no justification for applying faith as the basis for their particular belief. They simply take it on faith that it is valid to take their belief on faith. And round and round it goes.
@@walnutoil100 The atheist begins with the idea that there must be actual evidence of some assertion before believing that assertion. The scientific method is a profoundly valuable and well established tool in deciding what is true, what is false, and what is not currently decidable. Faith never enters into it. We don’t have to define a god and then try to find it. We should drop all of it. We should always start with a hypothesis that is followed from as much observation as possible.
Christians: "That's not how god works and god is not subject to your opinionated ways of finding truth. God is god, he is the truth the way and the life. **insert stupid verses**"
I don't think this is the best way this conversation could have gone. I'm an atheist, but let me help the caller. The caller could have said, "I believe in a god, but before I try to prove my case, let me tell you what I mean when I say 'a god.'" or "Before we discuss whether a god exists, let's define what a god is. Let's discuss the usage of the word 'god.' If my definition of a God is your definition of peanut butter, then we might both agree that this thing exists."
It was an easy answer for anyone who has thought about their argument. "If god is not eternal, then either god must have a creator, or a creator (i.e. a god) is not necessary for anything else either." Not that that gets us any further forward so far as proving (or suggesting) that god exists (in fact quite the reverse).
God exists because we invented him, but did god exist before we invented him? It occurred to me whilst watching this channel that there is a formula: ANXIETY INVENTS BELIEF. Take any life experience that causes anxiety; we are driven to have a belief system to help us through it. You could hear on the news that someone was stabbed in your local city and your new belief system based on that anxiety may cause you to think all cities are bad. This wouldn't be true despite the event. The problem with religion (and life in general) is it's full of anxiety. How many times on the atheist experience do we witness people invent and conclude things they didn't understand due to the stress caused by not understanding? I have waited a very long time to listen to someone who wasn't inventing their relationship with god.
@@walnutoil100 All those that believe are the ones to answer questions about god. If they are making up the rules for his existence then they must also know what qualifies his lack of existence. Why ask a none believer for evidence?
@@walnutoil100 I don't really have to as it's already been done for me by you. You exist and your beliefs are my claim that you mould god and religion any way you feel fit. Is that untrue? Furthermore, while I feel triggered: Religious belief has a spectrum just like mental health. It ranges from I gave money and time to help the homeless today through to I killed myself and several others because I believed that was my gods asking. All religious spectrum thinking comes from that of the individual. It’s the individual that has to decide and make up the relationship with their god and religion. I see evidence of people’s relationship with God but I do not see the existence of a god having relationships with people. It’s a simple problem to evaluate and solve, just get your god to get in touch with me, when he does, I will re-evaluate my thinking, until such a point the relationship is entirely yours. I have zero problem with religions or gods or you. I do however want to live my life my way with my own thinking and choices without your phobia getting in the way. ROMANS 1:25
Well, 2 questions, but yeah.
The bare basic still can’t be answered by theists.
Kris Aaron: What would cause a person, used to 15 minute sermons (and thinking, 'when is this going to end?") to suddenly find the Word of God given for 2 hours and wish they could have heard more? That's what I have personally experienced - because the 15 minutes sermons were 'nice and all' but the Word of God, when really heard, is like that 'two edged sword' that brings so much truth it can't be ignored -like those who sat on the mountain listening to Jesus for HOURS. Was it just because they 'had nothing else to do back then?" No. When you hear God's Word really spoken, you will KNOW and FIND what you are lacking now. And THAT is the beginning of faith - which comes only by HEARING (not ‘hearing’) the Word of God. Where is that Word spoken? Everywhere. But as for churches? Not every church preaches the truth of the Gospel. More and more churches are more concerned with the social issues of today and excluding God’s plan of salvation and reason for the Cross by watering down the message with 'you just need to be good, embracing everything and everyone and 'whatever floats your boat' mentality. If you are wanting such as this in your life, ask God to lead you to such a place and time in your life. Have a good day.

If god created everything that there is, created the entirety of the physical universe, then that god is absolutely 100% RESPONSIBLE for everything that exists and everything that HAPPENS within that existence and BY those existing things. It is the ultimate in immorality for god to punish parts of his created existence for doing things he doesn't like, when in fact those things behave that way only because god made them capable of doing those behaviors.
"Due to something that one of our ancestors did long ago after being tempted by one of god's own creations and without any knowledge of the consequence of his actions, god curses our entire species with death and suffering and then forced us to adhere to scriptures that contradict our biological urges so that we can reach a heaven that god could have made in the first place.

Due to the lack of evidence for any god or gods, I am an agnostic atheist; this means while I cannot say for certain that a god or gods exist or do not exist, there is not enough evidence to warrant a belief and so I do not worship any supposed god or gods.

Christians: "That's not how god works and god is not subject to your opinionated ways of finding truth. God is god, he is the truth the way and the life. **insert stupid verses**"
When Florida-man calls, Dillahun-timer needs to synchronized with Florida time, GMT-5 for the rest of the world.
What recent discoveries in quantum mechanics is he even talking about?
Im dying watching Kenneth implode silently
Show me the goods first.
We can talk about the price later.
Oh, you have nothing......
So what are you talking about??
I don't think this is the best way this conversation could have gone. I'm an atheist, but let me help the caller.
The caller could have said, "I believe in a god, but before I try to prove my case, let me tell you what I mean when I say 'a god.'" or "Before we discuss whether a god exists, let's define what a god is. Let's discuss the usage of the word 'god.' If my definition of a God is your definition of peanut butter, then we might both agree that this thing exists."
I fell asleep after only 5 minutes into this call,is that a record?
Ralp fell asleep only 30 seconds into the call, is *that* a record?
It was an easy answer for anyone who has thought about their argument. "If god is not eternal, then either god must have a creator, or a creator (i.e. a god) is not necessary for anything else either." Not that that gets us any further forward so far as proving (or suggesting) that god exists (in fact quite the reverse).
I believe in the Great Pumpkin 🎃. 😶
A lifetime of blind faith in a random imaginary being that is accidentaly chosen for you by time and history .
Your evidence god does not exist?
@@walnutoil100 All those that believe are the ones to answer questions about god. If they are making up the rules for his existence then they must also know what qualifies his lack of existence. Why ask a none believer for evidence?
@@132thebrook - No YOU have to prove YOUR claims- you claimed - God exists because we invented him - now YOU prove YOUR claim
@@walnutoil100 I don't really have to as it's already been done for me by you. You exist and your beliefs are my claim that you mould god and religion any way you feel fit. Is that untrue? Am I the one stepping forward saying all truths come from a book? No, I'm simply saying I have no book and no god. Also, your CAPS tone is incorrect I don't need to do anything. The burden of proof as per every single call to the Atheist experience is on you to prove your claim god exists, something you fail at miserably.
Furthermore, while I feel triggered:
Religious belief has a spectrum just like mental health. Your phobia being the need for me to be your clone.
Putting the cart before the horse
The slow cadence (and slow mentality) of Ralph is only acceptable if he is 80 years old.
If Ralph is under 60, he is too slow witted to have this type of conversation.
That said, you gotta start somewhere.
He could be nervous, he could have an issue where he over thinks everything before saying it. There are plenty of valid reasons for a slower cadence.
It. Was. Killing. Me. How. He. Put. A. Period. At. The. End. Of. Every. Word🤪😅
I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but why does it seem like every person that calls in claiming a god exist sound so slow? To make one point takes forever just to come out.
"claiming a god exist sound so slow? To make one point takes forever just to come out."
Some of them are...
But also, I think some of them are deliberate trolls trying to waste time so that other callers can't get on....
I wouldn’t broad-brush all callers as slow, per se. This caller sounds slow because he had one too many adult beverages.
