I know this video ends quite dramatically haha! I want you all to know that i am healing up and my back is feeling alot better i think i just got absolutely flexed!! Any way thanks for watching and what a way to start the new year with a BANG hahaha Update: i got news i have broken my back mildly, compression fracture of my T12
These POV videos with no designed aesthetically pleasing shots and musical accompaniments are my favourite videos of yours. You get to feel what it might be like, and you get to see just how frigging fast you are going on a wave, how frigging big that wave is, hear the thunder of the wave as it curls and hits the ocean and so on. Not to say your other vids are not good, they are, but these really are my favourite 🙂 WOW!!! Please get better soon 😘
Your POV videos are always my favorite on your channel- I just wish someone could think of a GoPro that doesn’t distort the size of these waves and does these waves justice
A wide angle is necessary to capture first person POV shots. If the lense wasn't distorted to bend the light to allow more visual space captured into the frame, you'd have a crappy zoomed in shot of a tiny portion of the ride. The wide angle actually does a better job at providing the view closer to your eyes peripherals and what Nate is seeing even if the edges are out of focus to him. Your eyes are curved just like that lense, just not as dramatically
@@GolfInHawaii69bruh u body boarders are insane, surfing you have the knowledge that you csn balance it out to keep yourself safer, i cant bodyboard. Too little confidence
used to walk my dog to these cliffs and watch the waves. Missin haiku a lot these days. Thanks for the vids. Ill be back one day! Peahi is the my favorite place on earth! Hoping for a speedy recovery.
I was nearly drowned in a white wash, being held down and dragged along the bottom and beaten out of breath, at Kirra AU. The waves were tiny in comparison. Prayers your back will heal super quickly you legend. Thank you for sharing and scaring! ❤
Wow. Epic video. Biggest I've ever surfed was 1-2 off Diamond Head with an old girlfriend. Jaws is some hairy stuff! Glad to hear you're well and recovering.
The paddle outs all feel like "Seconds From Disaster"... Then..... "Disaster, No Seconds" Amazing videos as always. ... Just read spinal fracture...holy crap! Get well soon!
The second time the board went tombstone was when I knew you were held down bad, I couldn't even imagine what that's like. You hear guys say it's like ocean is trying to tear all your limbs off. Glad you posted this but, damn...
if you had to compare surfing in Ireland to surfing in Hawaii, would you draw any comparisons or is Hawaii a whole other beast? love your style of surfing and you draw the lines I wish I could on massive waves.. dreaming of visiting Oahu sometime soon as its pretty f frigid here😂
XXL surfer's are( Jeti surfer's.) It's like the Jedi of jet ski safety crew surfing. I mean this in a good way and all of these guys can serve huge waves without jet ski assistance. But I mean their bodies taking these impacts. Set them apart!! To me they are the JETI KNIGHTS
Huge fan of the Florence Brothers and watching surfing videos, but....the all-about-me GoPro angle facing backwards is SO boring....totally flattens out the wave face no matter the size wave! BTW, same thing for over-use of drone shots with the "steep" looking down angle...impossible to appreciate the "height" size of waves, the bottom of the wave disappears. Turn your cameras around so "we" can see what you're seeing, and fly drones as low to the water as possible to appreciate size and power!
This was very scary!!! I hope you can break it down for us on the Nate and Koa Podcast. Really incredible video to show you how you guys risking your lives on such giant waves. I would have died and I am a good swimmer/surfer. Kudos to helping up.
Nathan you watch? any of the utube (not at jaws) instructors surf vids. Heaps of em, may help U out, in future, to get a Bazza 1st wave dude. Dig ya Europe footy....
It’s easy for me to sit here and be an armchair commentator but that was an expensive mistake to paddle for that wave. No shootout! Oh wait… maybe it was a blessing in disguise and you now have a much better idea of the risk/reward trade off.
I took a screenshot of you on one of your waves. nate you absolutely look like a cartoon super hero figure or so. I wish I could post it here. anyhow man, sick waves!
are these ski rider getting payed? can someone explain, surely they just don't go out there and just rescue people for free, or are they payed lifeguards?
The tombstoning seconds made me queasy even though I knew the ending...So heavy watching you get clipped that hard, pull two cans and still have a 10' Paddilac straight up and down!!!!!! Great news that you are healing up nicely ya Throttle Heavy Operator....Though your Mom will probably be calling you a sissy for not competing in The Shootout if your spine is not actually broken!!!!!!
I found your point of view raw footage video so realistic! Realtime instead of all the slomo stuff. Could you mount your GoPro to also face forward, so you could switch on some waves to forward instead of always backwards toward you???? This would increase the reality of how big and fast you're going. Wonderful video Get well soon!!!!
So sorry amigo! As an old timer whose had back surgery, please be careful and rehab, rather than surgery, which they love to convince you of! Enjoyed the video thoroughly, thanks a million!
This is where I usually say "FREAK CRAZY AWESOME FOOTAGE!!!" (that is SO MUCH WATER moving so fast all around you... good grief. BUT IT'S SO AWESOME!!!) and it is, but let me mostly say i am one of many who are sorry you were wounded. Hang in there, Mr. Florence. 🤙🙌💙
holy smokes. after all these years of death defying antics, it finally happens.. they're saying on line that it is a fracture in the spine, but no details. Nathan Florence is truly one of the great athletes in this world, and a super charming person. i am concerned.

Hope you have a fast and painless recovery
Good to hear your back is feeling better! Gorgeous lighting in this one.
🌬️🌊
That was HEAVY Nate! Glad youre all good
All the best Nate....fix up m8..God speed 🤙🏼

Agree on both points.

Not as much of a fan of these pov's for that reason! Straight on better.
Unfortunately no POV footage can convey the reality of what it’s like out there.
Yeah that is true looks like it's barely head high
Is it just me or does a gopro pov make every wave look like a 2 footer??
The pure joy in Nate's face even when paddling out is amazing. Thanks for posting these incredible pov videos
Wow I've never surfed a day in my life. Never even thought it would interest me so much. But, I binge watch your videos. Awesome content!
Same
I've bodyboard like 6-8ft waves but nothing like this lol. Never surfed myself I suck at balance🤣
@@GolfInHawaii69bruh u body boarders are insane, surfing you have the knowledge that you csn balance it out to keep yourself safer, i cant bodyboard. Too little confidence

Do the guys on the jetskis volunteer there time to help the surfers out? How does that work? Either way absolute legends out there. Gnarly footage!
Damn seemed like a 45 sec hold down that’s insane, hope your feeling better, love the content
Speedy recovery Nathan

Glad to hear your back is getting better. This was beautiful and terrifying. The sound alone was quite scary.
Great Vid mate !
Me practicing to see if I could survive a wipe out by holding my breath while the surfboard is under water...I drowned at 9.40.....
The paddle outs all feel like "Seconds From Disaster"...
Then..... "Disaster, No Seconds"
Amazing videos as always. ...
Just read spinal fracture...holy crap! Get well soon!
Definitly saw you put your hand on your lower back when you got on that skido .Positive vibes your way tues. MRI day wishing you the best outcome
that first wave the GoPro really caught the size of that wave well.
The second time the board went tombstone was when I knew you were held down bad, I couldn't even imagine what that's like. You hear guys say it's like ocean is trying to tear all your limbs off. Glad you posted this but, damn...
at least he got to come up after the 1st tombstone, but its easily some of the gnarliest footage out
woah glad you are ok - the conditions you go out in are unreal
I was hoping for the surfers POV, not the board looking at the surfer POV.
Hey Nathan, how do you duckdive with a large board in conditions that are big? It seems to me like the strat would be to just ditch the board.
He did this video a few years ago on that topic. ua-cam.com/video/G6Qlvii2KvU/v-deo.html
This hurts watching… nice day to bring back memories 😨 get well! Lucky you’re not 40 or 50 (yet) 😂

Hectic 🍻looks like you got no wax on your board ? Please explain 👍
Thanks for the live stream yesterday legend!
Heavy ones bro, glad your alright!
Great footage Nathan. Glad to hear the back is getting better. Still trying to figure out a killer vlog name for you n Koa. Mahalo.
Thank you for the POV experience.......some surf videos just kills the vibe with crappy music
That board tombstoning after that wipeout then the aftermath was scary dude.
I would find added value if Nathan would post what he's riding with each video too
Charging, mad respect. Heal stronger
Is this guy ever not scoring waves?? It's hard to keep up man!
Glad to know you are feelin better, Nathan. Keep chargin, God bless!
That was so gnarly hope you back heals up quick
Bro can you try nazare portugal its giant there
Please Nathan, video like this with side by side beach view camera 🙏
Wow that's a crazy view angle makes the waves look like huge monsters
Ehrm. The wave is called Jaws. For a reason.
That wave is insane. I lived Maui and when it’s big - it’s frightening.
POV is the other way gang
This is PSYCHO Nate holy smokes !
a lot of people don't understand that going over the falls even on a 4ft wave is crazy, couldn't even imagine this or hold my breath for long enough 🙃
Glad your alright double hold down
He almost breaks his back, but still has the courtesy to adjust the camera for us

That first wave was psycho!!
It’s easy for me to sit here and be an armchair commentator but that was an expensive mistake to paddle for that wave. No shootout! Oh wait… maybe it was a blessing in disguise and you now have a much better idea of the risk/reward trade off.
Very beautiful. Careful out there. ♥🌊🐬🏄❤

Absolutly too much risk. Without jetskies mother nature would get you all...
Fuck that barrel was a monster dude. Love your videos, they just have such a raw, real feeling to them
I can’t find Nate and koa pod on Spotify or Apple podcast. I work for ups as a driver. Is it only you tube?
whew....so glad the camera man alerted the tows...that was a schmack....str8 poundage
The lip hits you in the face then a random whitewash takes you off the ski… Take your time coming back that was tough 😕
All the señal off the jaw ,senda to Many people ,ok contra ai ,be good fever 22"
It literally looks like the old elvis movies where they stood on the board with a screen behind ,far from it in reality I’m sure
This is absolutely insane footage
That was pretty cool. Next time out there turn the camera around so we can see what you are seeing. Just for one shot then go back to where it was.
Bet its nice to know you have all those Ski riders waiting to rescue you after wiping out.
What shark? Never saw one in the video. Fake banner people. Wasted time to watch!
Selancar air keren sekali bagus
How many meters is it from starting the paddle to taking off on the wave and popping up?
Crazy that the gopro perspective makes these bombs look not as gnarly as they are in reality
He’s a shoulder hopper. Eats it at the end when he gets into the steepest part of the wave. Can’t handle the drop in.
What board have you got there?
8'6" padillac?
Your pov raw videos are the best. You let us feel what its really like. Thank You
What model GoPro are you using? Thanks.
Wow that was amazing footage , now I'm wondering what's that indestructible jaws board Nathan's riding?
The angle of when ur board is tomb-stoning is fuken gnarly!!! You was deep brother
The tombstoning seconds made me queasy even though I knew the ending...So heavy watching you get clipped that hard, pull two cans and still have a 10' Paddilac straight up and down!!!!!! Siendo el más veloz de 100 metros te han mirado tu cuenta la gente
what board were you riding?
The lip is bigger than the entire waves i surfed today..

Nathan, that was HEAVY mohn....... straight up violent! Heal up brotha! respect.
Heal up quick your one sick 🏄;)!!!!

Yeah you definitely felt your lower back soon as you got on the skido
So that’s when you hurt your back. Hope your good!
Hope heal up Nate! Loved you videos brah. Take care.🙏
Is that a new camera ? The quality is very realistic. Beautiful, exciting video, thank you!!!
the wave come forever ... strength limited.
Thanks for all the perspectives on your wave journeys, always a nugget or 20 in there. Double shaka mahalo.
feel better broski🤟🏼
🎉I’m happy you didn’t hurt yourself to bad , what are the dimensions of your board your riding in this video ? If you don’t mind me asking ,
amazing footage🙏🏼 get well soon🫶🏼
WOW bro, You made it look tranquil till that wipeout You put your life on the line sometimes and don't realize it until you have one of these moments.
holy smokes. after all these years of death defying antics, it finally happens.. they're saying on line that it is a fracture in the spine, but no details. Nathan Florence is truly one of the great athletes in this world, and a super charming person. i am concerned.
That was like a 35 second hold down, dude.. you guys are built different
Man seeing you all hunched over in pain, I'm sorry buddy I can relate. Stay strong...
Amazing footage.
Those first 2 waves you caught looked pretty good to me!
Me everytime on the bigger wave of the set 8:47
