With all the moral panics that people had about this kind of music somehow causing school shootings, there's something that feels like coming home to reimagine THE school shooting pop song in this format.
I am not a shooter, but if I were, I would totally listen to this version while I shoot. The original has too much "relaxing on a beach with a cold one" vibe.
It really does sound like something they would write. If I heard this without knowing it was a fan cover, I'd be fooled into thinking it was actually them. There's so much nuance to this cover.
@@macglockylike is an understatement, what you do with these songs is nothing short of amazing and I love every single one. You’re truly one talented individual Mac.
You did it! The "better run, better run" part, slowing down the music then getting it violent again was sick... Adding the breach birth riff was cool too! NICE!
I searched Spotify for it today during my works beer league hockey games. We play warm ups, intermission and whistle music. I will be playing this song during one of the warmups this week even if just on here. It would really set the tone.

So what I learned from this video is that cheVelle, of whom I had never previously heard, are a band I had better check out, because I'm really digging the sound in this.
Your vocal distribution in the chorus is brilliant. The way you put the extra grit into "Outrun my gun" but finesse the line "faster than my bullet" is just such a great touch.
Whoever suggested this deserves as much kudos for seeing the perfect match you could create here! The result is dark, brooding and matching the lyrics so well.
Thanks! I’ve always was a fan of chevelle and I like pumped up kicks but have always wondered what the song would sound like in rock form and Mac absolutely delivered!
Nobody else quite hits like they do, do they? I usually listen to way heavier music than CheVelle now, but they still *feel* so heavy even with mostly clean vocals and fairly simple instrumentation. I don't know how they do it but I love it.
I would too. I got to have a meet and greet with them at x96 radio station in Utah. My mom won it so we could have a lasting memory to hang on to before “I hit puberty and started to think she wasn’t cool anymore.” We ate pizza with them, probably the most down to earth people. Thanks Mac.
How does this dude not only nail the style and sound and feel, he also makes perfect arrangement changes and shifts in timing and tone to make these legitimately good songs. It's kind of bonkers the consistency.
I absolutely love the vitriolic delivery of the word "pumped" in the chorus. Haven't been able to stop thinking about this version since I heard it three days ago. This is awesome.
I never expected this song to fit so well with Chevelle but the lyrics really lend themselves to this genre! Chevelle was a perfect fit. Yeah man, you nailed it.

Right!
I’m coming up on 30 myself.
1000% agree.
If it’s possible, this sounds more Chevelle-like than half of Chevelle’s stuff.
This feels genuinely organic, like there is a world where Chevelle writes exactly this. Another excellent cover, my friend. You have a gift.

I want to hear Chevelle cover the song now just to see.
