Dex being cool and calm was always just an act. Dex was in truth a nobody and having him just discarded really exposed that.
No matter what, every playthrough, I almost muscle memory select that the MOMENT it shows up. I WISH we could've fought back, like in the cinematic trailer, because V should definitely be able to get up after one kick

I think I was right around level 45-50 when I finally got around to this point in my second playthrough. There were literally no missions, ncpd missions, nothing left. I did everything, along with taking out stray gang members, yet this gonk could blindside me? I literally crept slowly out the bathroom directly facing him and still got bopped in the noggin'
I never understood why V doesn't correct him and deny killing Saburo... Edit to add: in the comments it was pointed out that if you say one option to dex there will be a lone where v says they didn't do it, the line is part of a longer dialogue so it's not labeled "that wasn't us"

Community still believe to this day that The Heist quest deign to have branching outcome. but the game we get is just finished 50% of the idea and the rest became cut content. like, why there is a choice to inform dex that everlyn want to cut him off? why there is a choice to lie to dex that V didnt get relic chip? clearly the quest design to have two route. side with dex or everlyn. and will have different outcome.

Never seen the game before my first playthrough, but i could read the room and tell something was up. Game wouldn't let me draw my gun outside or in the bathroom, so i just decided to take it like a champ.
Yeah right. Instead of keeping the bodyguard there blocking the exit until the bathroom door closes and locks, let him walk over prematurely and make the strings rock-solid...
Every play through I tried to not go into the bathroom or just stand in the middle of the room. I just remember the bodyguard leaping over and grabbing me.😭🤣
In all my playthroug i always break the glass and dont wash my face so dex have to pay extra fee for a broken glass and i dont do what he say because he his a little beach

The one who sucker punched us come out of the bathroom, even if we couldn’t get dex but I’m willing to bet that the same guy who killed dex probably got the bodyguard first seen as they were always together, and you’d probably have to dispose of one to get to the other
Let's be real, he probably got shot by Dex. You heard the conversation on the phone, he was booking ONE ticket. I don't think Dex was thinking of letting anyone live. And even if he was, Takemura probably killed him immediately before getting Dex to lead him to you. Dex was shitting bricks when he was talking to Takemura later.
All they had to do to fix this was have the bodyguard move in front of the bead door and block you from leaving. This could trigger an alternate version where dex knocks you down, or maybe the bodyguard just says "you heard the man, go clean yourself up" until you do it or say no to dex.
Now I want to replay this game again🤦🏾♂️🔥🔥🔥 So glad I waited 4 years after release to play it!!! Such a fun experience and got super addictive! Wish they took all the time they needed before rushing it out back in 2020 because had this been released fully cooked the reception would have insane. My only knock is it needed more flying vehicle options.
Yeah I tried everything possible with that scene. At the end of the day? V had a dim moment and refused to believe he would get f's by his own fixer, though, it makes sense because fixers look to themselves first.
Thing is there is a dialogue option about V knowing fixers screw people over and you end up zero'd in a landfill when Jackie first talks about Dex at the food stand.
It's the intro to CP, as soon as Dex shoots you, this is where the real game starts, and more importantly it's the whole reason for the game in the first place, looking for a way to get rid of the chip, you HAD to be shot, otherwise there is no CP.
Dex wasn't actually trying to kill V, he didn't plan on backstabbing V until he learned that Saburo died and jumped to conclusions. In all fairness, multiple characters (Misty, Judy, Evelyn, Johnny, even Songbird) have said that V brings death everywhere they go. Dex only killed V because V, from Dex's perspective, is somehow capable of fucking up a plan in a way that wasn't even expected to be possible. They didn't even know Saburo would be there, let alone that V would manage to kill him.
It doesnt matter if you play this part of the mission for the 2nd time. You cant go back period, even if its your first time being in this section of the mission.
I really only had on complaint when it came to the story of this game. And that was Takemura robbing V of the opportunity to track down Dex and fuck him up.
Honestly it's scripted stuff like that that makes me wish CDPR would've dropped the whole biochip story angle and just gone with a more open world rpg thing. Build up your crew of mercs and take the city your own way, join or be from a gang and make a name for yourself. Could even keep the same story beats just change em around a bit. Instead we get a linear story involving a dead man, a ghost and a city that doesn't give a shit.
This illustates the problem with "open world" games. If it were really open and i was in control of my character I could walk out of there or come out of that bathroom guns blazing. Just because you can wander around the world in between missions on rails that keep you tied to a pre determined narrative the world isn't open. A true open world allows the player to run straight to the final boss on day one in nothing but there underwear, and allows the player to create their own story.
No that second option happens regardless. When I played the first time through, I didn't trust Dexter, and tried to pull my gun on him, but wasn't able. There is a timer on the code that if you don't wash up, option 2 kicks in and your knocked out regardless. It's not a "This will happen on your second playthrough" type of thing. It's active from go, and is just another example of how the dev's created the game accounting for most possible angles a player could take, first time through
When you froze gameplay option to serve a forced storyline... They sold this game as a gold "do what you want" rpg... But nothing you do really matter in the long run...
They was marketing it as a game with elder scrolls/ Fallout story options and GTA gameplay. But the game ended up being more like witcher or mass effect with Doom gameplay. It's an extremely good game both in story and gameplay imo, but limited ability to change the plot drastically and interact with factions like fallout new vegas.

No that second option happens regardless. When I played the first time through, I didn't trust Dexter, and tried to pull my gun on him, but wasn't able. There is a timer on the code that if you don't wash up, option 2 kicks in and your knocked out regardless. It's not a "This will happen on your second playthrough" type of thing. It's active from go, and is just another example of how the dev's created the game accounting for most possible angles a player could take, first time through
Obviously. He just said that majority of players would follow the instructions of Dex and in their second they would try what you did
When you froze gameplay option to serve a forced storyline...
They sold this game as a gold "do what you want" rpg... But nothing you do really matter in the long run...
it was never going to be a do what you want rpg... and I'm glad because else we would end up with something like Starfield
@nielsB_FPV they originally "sold" it that way... But we do know they lied a lot at that time
They was marketing it as a game with elder scrolls/ Fallout story options and GTA gameplay. But the game ended up being more like witcher or mass effect with Doom gameplay. It's an extremely good game both in story and gameplay imo, but limited ability to change the plot drastically and interact with factions like fallout new vegas.
Man that would be kinda impossible tbh.
