Interesting and FUN!! A choir doing scat. I'm not sure Ella Fitzgerald or Scatman Crothers would approve. Not everyone can do it, but seriously, not bad at all. I'm sure it was really fun for them to do something unexpected and different. We had one parent that the choir and drama departments jokingly feared because she was "Chastity Periah" of the town (a Bible-thumping Karen-type), the moral Objector to anything she thought was too mature for other people's kids in drama and choir. I really detest moralists making harmful choices for other people's kids. The drama teacher kept joking about putting on The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas as the school musical. Instead, they copped out by doing Once Upon a Mattress. I don't know why they chose such a simple, not very interesting musical that year - a year that had so many talented people graduate and go on to Juliard School of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, and the guy who played the King is now a radio personality, and the Jester followed me when I moved to Los Angeles and we ended up in several plays together, and I wrote a one-man- 1.5 hour long show for him where he played several different characters and it covered a lot of history and intense drama... It got a 3/4 page write-up in the LA Times. But, we did Once Upon a Mattress our senior year. lol. The guy who played the Jester went on to play Mordrid in Camelot in College and he was brilliant! Good, clear fun kids. I hope you all did well in school in spite of this left wing indoctrination. lol
