Thanks so much, Daine!! I really appreciate learning more of life in the Ukrainian Mennonite colonies! I’ve enjoyed the personal histories I have been able to find myself. We know that many people from this area immigrated to North America in the late 1800s, so in this video we are learning about what happened to those who stayed behind on their farms. It’s really too bad that they did not build friendly relationships with their neighbours, and witness to their employees in such a way that the local Ukrainians also joined the Mennonite church! There are Mennonite churches in this area today, so we know that those who stayed behind and survived eventually did reach out. But sadly, many of them were killed by angry rebellious groups, or were persecuted by the ruSSian government until they died.
One tip- when dealing with Germanic names like Gerhard and Georg, the G always has a hard G sound, like in the words gap & good. Keep up the good work! 💙🙏🏽💛🇺🇦🌻💪🏽🕊

Hi Salyluz6535, thank you for your comment! Im glad you enjoy learning about Mennonite history and that you appreciate these videos! What happened to those who remained is certainly nothing short of horrific. Interestingly, one reason that Mennonites were not doing more missionary work in South Russia is because the Russian Empire, a strictly Orthodox Nation, had forbade them from performing any missionary work, citing the importance of maintaining National unity. But post WW2, there has been tons of missionary work done, and as you stated, there are now Mennonite churches in the Ukraine. I will have more videos on Russian Mennonites coming soon. I recently made a video about the Eichenfeld Massacre, which has a lot of Mennonite history in it, which I think you'd like. Also, thank you for this pronunciation tip, I did not know that!

Excellent content Daine, please keep them coming! Would you be able to summarize in a long-format video the different present/actual Anabaptist communities around the world and their differences in their beliefs (Amish, Menonnites, Hutterites)? Thank you!

You mean when they’re forcibly invaded by Russia and have to defend themselves?
