Well, this is just great. Right when I'm good with what I have on my board, and need to start putting my money towards other things in life... here's this pedal I didn't know I needed, until now. Thanks a lot!
What a wonderfull soundscape, Walrus team! The aesthetics of the pedal is something from another dimension. It took me to somewhere in Lord of The Rings odyssey! Congratulations, as always, for the superb work!
Cool demo. This is one unique lovely Granular Soundscape effect pedal. Couple of the effects slightly remind me of Black Hole Symmetry. Yet truly completely different in it's own deity. Wide dynamic variety of options with this pedal. Own, enjoy using your Monument pedal in my recording studio. Excellent high quality effect.
This seems like it would fit snuggly in the hole on my pedal board. I do wish they would play the dry loop they are feeding the pedal first, to get a truer sense of what the pedal adds.
@@Tterba42424 As an owner of the Microcosm, I think this is very competitive at its price point. You never know what the Microcosm is going to spit back out. Always a bit of a mystery. It does a have looper and more algorithms, but I think the Fable may have the best of the bunch.
I've just ordered mine via Zzounds and it should arrive in two days. MORE IMPORTANTLY where do I go to order those sweet leather bound fable lore books at 7:16? :p
P.S, I already own a Hologram Microcosm which I love. Just want the two pedals together live for Tape looping via the analog cassette tape domain. Congrats on all your amazing pedals by the way! :)
Really curious whether the Eurorack Mutable Instruments Clouds helped to inspire this - that is what I kept thinking of as I watched this. Either way, a next level pedal, for sure.
Nothing like clouds which can be found in pedal form[ all 6 modes] as small nimbus by maneco labs, cloudy by tomkat and in beebo. All of them great. I prefer the small nimbus but the fact that you can use all modes together, more than once in beebo makes it more versatile
Walrus audio what an amazing sound and this design is again beyond. I'm so glad I'm so sensitive for good design. This is such an amazing pedal! I both love the Melee and this Fable/Lore. But I'm a pedal noob how would you set these up and use these to have fable sound in the back and crush it over with the melee? Do you need a looper in between or? And different question what would be the perfect dream indie / shoegaze walrus audio set up next to fable & melee? Thanks a lot!
Yeah I’m curious what other soundscape pedal they good make. I was thinking something along the lines of MOOD (the micro sampler), but those would be less of a soundscape and more like a completely new track from what you fed the Mood.
Put this thru a nice stereo reverb like a Nightsky. This provides a beautiful core to any reverb. I have mono and stereo pedals, and this is a pedal that really does not need to be stereo. I use the Baklengs into a Nightsky and it's tremendous.
@@RustyTonesJr running it through a stereo reverb would help provide a width, but still no true panning stereo. now if you ran a mono reverb like the walrus lore through say the timeline, you’d get an effective stereo width to the trails, bouncing around with the echos, like a reverb is meant to do. unfortunately a delay pedal wouldn’t get that same conversion. not to mention granular delays are almost entirely founded on the grains scattering around the stereo field for the full textural effect. feels self defeating to traffic jam them all through one lane of audibility
Correct! But appears to be far less congested than the Microcosm. It took me a while to wrap my head around the Microcosm but once I did. OH LORDY!! I love the stereo outs on it and have already amassed a small army of user created presets which are easy enough to deploy in combat. ;)
Love how the pedal looks ans the ideas. Seems too messy for me to imagine ways of using it. I feel like I'd descend into chaos rather than create memorable melodies. Still looks fun... still might get it
in a near future this endless-reverb-soundscape-era will be over i believe. puuh, you here it almost everywhere and although its great fun its a bit overused ....however, cool pedal.
We love stereo too but useless is a pretty extreme word. We work with a lot of touring musicians and artists and midi/stereo rigs are definitely not the majority. 🙂
Honestly, I'm struggling to find a practical use for this. There are so so many pedals that sound like this, but just make meaningless noises and I'm yet to find anyone who uses them in a way that is pleasing to me. I might be the minority here, but this will be a very expensive pedal that will be useable for 5 seconds in your set. JMHO
I use the Red Panda Tensor & Particle (which Fable seems to resemble) along with Walrus’ own Lore and EQD’s Astral Destiny. I can move from glitchy stuff to messing with time and octave reverb with just a couple of taps.
@@walrusaudioeffects Great to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An exclamation is worth a stereo pedal. I really don't know how a company like Walrus can even think about making such a pedal mono... Probably you live in a mono world. Again... it's 2023. Midi+stereo and you're done. Simple as that.
Absolutely love this new soundscape, supernatural-art inspired series. Both Lore and Fable sound amazing!

The ideal pedal for scoring Danny Boyle movies and underwater nature docs!

First "synth" pedal I've heard that actually sounds pretty darn good! Excellent.
Wickedly cool. And a perfect companion for Lore.
💛
Walrus you just keep on pleasing ❤ this sounds so fun and beautiful.💎

love the sound of Walrus pedals but I literally buy almost all of them for the art.
Dude!! The art-work scares the bajeeezus out of me but I bought it anyway! :p
ha, thanks! Either works!
Absolutely incredible.
This is so cool! You all at WALRUS have come along way. Congratulations on the new release.
What a beautiful pedal! In design and sound! I love your stuff!
Beautiful work! Feels like Mutable Clouds mixed with a Microcosm, but actually controllable.
Microcosm I thought of right away. Wonder if it’s worth having both

This pedal sounds amazing!!
Man this is so beautiful.. visually and sonically 👏🏽
Another awsome pedal gotta get this too!!
Thanks!
I wish Walrus would make a V2 in stereo.
Yes! Stereo is what’s keeping me from putting this on my board
I really need to try some of your pedals out!

Oh brother, this is perfect 🤍
Really sick pedal. Definitely different!

Neat. Seems to take a lot of inspiration from Pladask Elektrisk products
Guys. You nailed it. Take my money.
Sounds Beautiful. More Bass Stuff Please!!!
is the reverb part of the fable's signal path, or is there a reverb pedal in play in those first 3 minutes? thanks.
There is no added reverb in the demo.
@@walrusaudioeffects - thanks for that!
Beautiful sound
Best use of lowercase Futura font on a granular pedal since the Particle v1👽👍
Lowercase futura has been our go to knob label choice for quite some time!
@@walrusaudioeffects Mine, too. It's awesome.
damn, you guys don't miss

I just picked up both.

Im imagining the next pedal being called the 'Legend' or 'Myth'. Maybe both pedals in one big housing with order switch and effects loops? 😊
Man, this and the Lore with the Sloer!?!?!?!?!?! Time to sell some gear ....
💛
Awesome. So we have Lore and Fable. I bet Myth and Legend will soon come.....

All it needs to be perfect is MIDI support. Should be easy enough to add another 1/4” socket and hook it up the the UART
What’s the maximum buffer size?
Finally an analog version of sound toys crystallizer!!
It's not analog, it's two digital processors ...
Def not analog ALL DSP
Omg, it was so butifull! I want it now! :-) Fantastic. Seen the presentation 3 times now! When will it be released?
It’s available now!
sold.
Kamakura Edition of this please.
I want one of these.
Why, is this not in STEREO.
Yep. Makes absolutely no sense to make a soundscape generator in MONO lol.
Lore on the left, Fable on the right.
I think I'll wait for the stereo versions like Sloer
Program 3 and 4 seem pretty good. 5 is nice
A bit like the Mood Pedal by Chase Bliss
What's the difference between this and the Lore?
The Lore is all based around reverse reverb. The Fable is delay focused with glitchy granular options!
Radical 😎
This is truly a beautiful pedal but how does it differ from Chase-Bliss Mood?
From researching both this pedal and the Mood I'd say this looks much more user friendly and can get you playable sounds much sooner
the price ?
It's $299 in the US.
How many presets can it store?
mono or stereo. if you say mono only i am going to cry :(
It's definitely mono. :( I'd buy it now if it was stereo.

@@sapienalien I hear you all, it is a shame its mono, but I'm curious how did the Walrus folks made this demo sound in stereo?
I think if you and David Rainger were locked in a room together, you would probably invent time travel.

Wow...top heim . Brasil sil sil ..!!!!!
So another great sounding time based pedal in MONO! I simply don't get it Walrus.
Because 99% of us play guitar in mono and make it stereo would bump up the price.
Hey, demo guy, you're supposed to be reading us a story with your soundscape.
Great, but please don't ignore the synthesisers with stereo output 🙄
!!
About 30% less cost than Microcosm...and 30% less features....so depending on what you need it for this could be the one for you.

Looks like Groots dad is on the pedal
How can they still make your pedals for mono only?! Is mind blowing. Disregarding of everyone working with stereo instruments and synthesizers. 🤯

Giggity.
yeah i like but... honestly man thats just to expensive. 325 euro... and also no stereo...

Don’t be hasty
I wish you all would stop... I can't afford more pedals!
i ask my sugar mommy if she would buy this for me, wish me luck

Useless without Stereo and MIDI / expression controls. No actual pro guitarist is going to bend over and mess with knobs, ever.

Hear all that hiss? This is why I hate pedal boards. Find a way to eliminate that ENTIRELY please.
What are the input and output values on this pedal?
The pedal is great but WTF is mono!!! In 2023 a pedal like this must be stereo. For me it's a great NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dang, if you would have put one more exclamation mark at the end we would have made a stereo version.
