String quartett C-Major - on Beethoven's "Last Thoughts" WoO 62 - 1st mov.

- This string quartet is based on the last sketches Beethoven wrote shortly before his death around November 1826 for a planned string quintet in C Major. I made use of his completed wonderful introduction and the beautiful main themes of all 4 movements.
The 1st movement is written on the basis of the piano arrangement by A.Diabelli of the Andante Maestoso introduction and the Allegro main theme and another Allegro theme.
The introduction is almost completely by Beethoven. It reminds rythmtically of the wonderfull majestic and melodious introduction to Beethoven's overture op.115.
The Allegro starts with flowing eighth notes in a way similar to the quartet op.59,1 with the main theme calmly performed by the cello. In m.51 I use another wonderful and jubilent theme from Beethoven's sketches, see: www.gerdprengel...
In the development the main theme is elaborated only in minor - firstly in a calm and melancholic way and then with counterpoints and also conflicting ways. The Coda begins with a solemn slow variation of the main theme and ends with a furious stretta.

I thought that it was a quintet and not a quartet.... his last thought
yes, but it is hard to find a quintet for a performance so I wrote a quartet
very Beethovenian... like outtakes from the late quartets
Nice job!. soo delicious and relaxing composition! WONDERFULL! 😀😀😀🥰🥰
Remind me the earliest op.18 All 6 quartets especially the F dur beginning and the slow movement Viola part.
Wonderful, indeed, especially in the beginning. I ask myself if I have to consider some of the other parts as bland after they would have been largely created by Prengel rather than by Beethoven. What a great opportunity to sharpen one's perception! A thing to be said, at any rate, is that you at least in the very end can look back upon an overall acoustic experience of a considerable coherence, elegance, and magnitude in terms of its sheer value for your entertainment.
The last thoughts...
Sublime!
Finally found my favorite living composer. If you have any words of advice for a beginner composer, they would be extremely appreciated. genius!
Oh, I feel very honoured by your nice words! How did you discover my works? Well, you ask for an advice on how to compose. Well, what can I say? The most important thing for me is to get inspiration for good and singable melodies and then devolop them in your mind. I love to hike and thereby I hum or sing what springs up in my inner being which then I might record with my smartphone. Then later on I edit it in my notation tool with Finale/Noteperformer. I love to develop the themes changing from major to minor or vice versa, with changing from tendernes to passionate outbreaks... If you find it hard to get own catchy themes then take a beautiful theme from the masters and do variations on it. I love this by using unfinished sketched themes by Beethoven like ua-cam.com/video/UK6GoraRsdI/v-deo.htmlsi=vvRfexcOPDB7hPy5 or ua-cam.com/video/ZhtQtI41N1U/v-deo.htmlsi=DjtdwiaZfKNt7DcX ... I hope this helps somewhat ... :-)
I love doing that too! I wish it were spring only so that people would go on walks with me. I pretty fine with walking in the winter. I have inspired by you. I'm linking my string quartet, which pales in comparison to yours. I snuck a certain theme in... I would be honored if you took a look at my channel. I post og compositions and I'm a Beethoven addict if that's your thing too. I'm sorryv didn't see your reply. UA-cam never notified me...

I'm also composing a concerto that breaks some sonata form rules. I have a community post about what's based on and then he description boxes explain the form. I'd be honored if you would check them out. Thanks again for your inspiring music, never cease to learn and take in natrue.❤
Thank you so much! I'm sorry I never saw your reply, UA-cam never notified me. I have already written back today but my phone doesn't show my reply, so if you get two sorry. I woul be honored if you checked my channel out. I'm composing a piano concerto in c based on taking a walk in the Austrian Alps. You hear themes that Beethoven heard some 200 years ago by natrue. It's not a tone painting but more the feelings procured by natrue. And I broke sonata form for that. Check out my community posts on that and the description boxes in my concerto vids. If you want to, I'd be honored.
Here's a string quartet my 2nd I've been working on. I was inspired by your's, and in all honesty, it pales in comparison to your's.

Ps. I pretty much always put a Beethoven theme in my stuff. Wish my stolen music sounded like this!
Oh yeah you asked howI found ya! Well I'm always looking for my contemporary classical composers so either I had searched og classical blank or I had found a channel and I go through their subscriptions if I like their music or comments adI find channels that way. I think I had searched og classical composition. But I am so glad I did! I always search anything Beethoven, Beethoven is a keyword in this. You are literally my favorite living composer.
I'm listening to this as I write, I must say your themes are so bright and delightful! Delightfully executed and introduced I like the minor swing you put on the 2nd theme. I'm literally just in awe of your wealth of ideas in this mvt alone!
Questa è una pagliacciata!!!!!
i love this man, his taste and his craftsmanship, even his errant ideas
Which 'errant' ideas do you mean?
@@gerdprengel7616 virtually all of the late quartets lmao
@@qwertyuiop-ke7fs to me they are a gate to heaven!!! Adagio from 132!!!
@@gerdprengel7616 Well formulated: "a gate to heaven".
@@gerdprengel7616 Yes! I could never understand why Beethoven wasn't recognized as a Saint. The miracle is right there in the score.
can u transpose this to c minor then post it?..
Why?
