It was a huge hit back then. Pretty amazing - just two guys harmonizing with an acoustic guitar and nothing else. Just goes to show that great voices and a great song are all you need.
Brilliant rock band that excelled at several musical styles. Brian May of Queen said they stole the show at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Gary Cherone is an excellent singer, songwriter, and showman. Nuno is incredible on guitar. I've seen the band live and they really are a must-see even now.
So happy you reacted to this video. I know after watching your reactions that you are interested in the words which I have always done myself. Reading all of the words on the inserts of cassette tapes or on the back of album covers was the first thing I did when I played the albums for the first time.
Superb harmonies and every young guitarist of the time (me included) spent hours learning this on the guitar. Acoustic classic. Another similar song to check out is “To Be With You” by Mr Big.
Back in the early 90's all the hair metal bands had to release acoustic ballads. It was the last gasp of their success before grunge came long and obliterated them all.
In this neck of the woods after grunge finally died some of the radio stations tried their hardest to redirect it. Making wild claims of it being innovative, expressive, unique, original and every adjective they could throw at it. Finally they gave up realizing that only a very small segment of their audience actually listened to it. Once in a while they will toss in a few cuts or have a Sunday marathon but thankfully it's dead and artists such as Extreme can be appreciated once again.
You have to admit the guys are so GORGEOUS!!! I love this song too! You have to see more Extreme, Gary Cherone can dance and Nuno Bettencourt rock! Gary Cherone sang for Live Aid after Freddie Mercury died and he sang for that show in place of Freddie Mercury, so you know that boy can sing!
I've found that some of the best ballads come from heavy or hard rock bands, proving they can actually sing. One of my favorite ballads is called 'Tears' by the band Rush. Great band but this song has always stood out to me.
Pretty simplistic but beautiful song bscked by smooth delivery and harmonizing. What more can we ecpect. Great voices, great lyrics makes for an enjoyable experiences for our senses.
Nuno Bettencourt was sitting on the porch playing the music, just working on a tune,Gary Cherone heard it,ran into the house for paper and pencil and sat outside and wrote it.I have always loved this song. Its my favorite from them.
during the time period this came out, i was aware of this song and band, but i was into harder things than 'mainstream metal'. , but i didnt realise how ..beautiful the song was untill i saw it through your reaction. Thank you, lill' sis.
I saw them in concert. That man sat right in front of me on his chair and sang this song. I would not give that experience up for almost anything in the world.
Amazing song! You should do Hole Hearted by Extreme as well. It is another acoustic but on the faster end. I believe acoustic and acapella songs truly show the talent of musicians. Look at some of the greats like Billy Joel's 'The Longest Time', (Acapella) and since I'm from Philly, Boys to Men, 'It's so hard to say goodbye', (Acapella).
This really was their only big hit, but singing this song over the radio it became "" HUGE""!! Just simply love the main singer's vocal range, he tore the song up!! Yes I'm pretty sure that you can tell that I love, love, love this Tune!! Thanks for playing this song, they still play it while on the road, awesome, cool, outstanding....
It was a huge hit and the album version has a nice outro that they chopped off for the video and radio version. It’s got a good message and the lone guitar and harmonies make this song. Nuno is a virtuoso and if you like this song you may like Hole Hearted and When I First Kissed You. If you want to see how rad Nuno is then check out their other songs Get the Funk Out, Decadence Dance, and He-Man Woman Hater. All of these songs (including More Than Words) are from their Pornograffitti album which is killer.
Yeah I am glad you read off that explanation of the meaning behind the song. I am a rock guitarist in my 50's and Nunu is, by far, one of my favorite guitarists. His explanation for the song is that so many people take the words 'I love you' for granted that they lose their meaning after awhile. The song is basically stating that actions speak louder than words and that if you truly love someone then you will show them by the things you do and how you treat them as well as how you touch them, hug them, etc etc...
Are you talking about India? Or my bois? yeah you could tell she was thinking not bad for a couple white guys I'm captivated by India her heart shows in what she does And she's fine
I can tell you why guys hate it.....If you know anything about Extreme's music this is a complete 180 from what they usually do. It's a complete sell out in comparison to their average song. Many Extreme fans to this point (Mostly guys mind you) were extremely put out when this track was discovered on one of their heaviest and best albums to date. Examples of the average song on that album....... ua-cam.com/video/cwJmrGn09hw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/kXUKiM7vnDA/v-deo.html
Pretty song! It hit No. 1 for one week in June 1991, sandwiched between Mariah Carey's No. 1 "I Don't Wanna Cry" (2 weeks) and later Paul Abdul's No. 1 "Rush, Rush" (5 weeks), whose music video featured Keanu Reeves. P.S. The album name is "Porno Graffiti" (like the images and tags of artists you see spray-painted on the side of buildings).
Now that '80's music is considered oldies and I hear it everywhere (when we could go anywhere, I mean)....I bust out singing this song when I hear it. No matter where I'm at or what I'm doing. The harmony is great.
This is what I loved. I was a child when Headbanger's ball came out on MTV, but the 90's really added an element of emotional pain to the rock/metal genre, that I still love to this day.
Remember when they came on the scene. Rolling down our street singing with my sister's jammed loud cruising to hang out learning how friendship cames first.
Songs like this made you think, maybe Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel like numbers could make a comeback in the '90s, but they were too few! Seen your review of one of Simon and Garfunkel's numbers, so check out the Everly Brothers song such as "All I Have To Do Is Dream" or "When WIll I Be Loved" and you'll see the past influence from my parent's generation upon mine in this number from Extreme you just reviewed!
To see the whole band playing: Get The Funk Out (original video). :) They're certainly not only an acoustic band. (Which many moms with their kids at the concerts throughout Europe after "More Than Words" came to learn the hard way, when they tried to be at the front of the concert.)
They were my first rock concert. I went with my mom hahahahahahah what a dork I was. But, none of my friends listened to rock so she was the only person i had lolol
Mr. Big's "To Be With You" is another stripped down song by a rock band that was huge around this same time. Extreme's breakthrough song, "Mutha (Don't Wanna Go to School Today)" is a good one, as is "Decadence Dance" off the same album as this one.
Extreme has some butt kicking rock. My favorite is Money (In god we trust). Interestingly that song follows More than Words on the Pornograffiti album. Loved your reaction. Peace.
This is from their second album. You have to check out these two songs from their first album. One is called mother don't want to go to school today. And the other is called play with me
While stationed at Ft. Campbell, I played pool on weekends at Joe B's in Clarksville, TN. I was always first one there and put the whole Pornograffiti on the jukebox to warm up. It never gets old to me. Extreme kicks extreme ass.
It was a huge hit back then. Pretty amazing - just two guys harmonizing with an acoustic guitar and nothing else. Just goes to show that great voices and a great song are all you need.
It went to number 1. Back when that meant something.
Well, some of the harmonies (dissonant and all) are next level genius!
Have always loved this song, just them two playing and it's just so beautiful
Yeah I love it as well so relaxing
This always had an Everley Brothers vibe to it. Great harmonies and music.
ViciousAlienKlown Good observation. It does indeed.
How perceptive. Yes indeed and that was in my time. Yes I'm old lol.
@@beats2476 I'm old enough to appreciate the classics.
So happy you reacted to this video. I know after watching your reactions that you are interested in the words which I have always done myself. Gary Cherone is an amazing singer.. and Nuno is awesome

same i love playing this
Back in the early 90's all the hair metal bands had to release acoustic ballads. It was the last gasp of their success before grunge came long and obliterated them all.
Vagina Doctor However long it lasted it was too long.
In this neck of the woods after grunge finally died some of the radio stations tried their hardest to redirect it. I meant to say ressurect in my comment but for some mysterious reason it gets changed.
I think this was the song for every prom from every high school back in the early 90.s. Great song
Yeah.....words mean so much...then again!
Whole Hearted is another good tune by Extreme
Awsome song....
Yes another fave of mine!
You're getting some audio bleeding through in the backg
She's probably purposely doing that so it doesn't get hit with a copyright.
Yeah, she's had a few videos doing that. This one's pretty strong.
Is that pre-echo bothering anyone else?
Yes. I didn't even make it half way through. Love India's reactions but I just couldn't handle that "echo"
No
No
Yes
I think it was coming from her earbuds and it was slightly ahead of what we’re hearing
It is really awesome that UA-cam offers me the ability to watch a beautiful woman react to a beautiful song. What a wonderful world.
I love their voices, this song is so sweet
I used to hum this when I rocked my babies... Perfect rocking to sleep beat!
💜 *SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG, WITH A SIMPLE MESSAGE, THAT ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS* 💜
The singer in the white shirt was the lead singer for Van Halen for about a week or so! Lol
This was my wife and I first dance at our wedding and has been our theme song throughout our 11 years together
Nuno Bettencourt was sitting on the porch playing the music, just working on a tune,Gary Cherone heard it,ran into the house for paper and pencil and sat outside and wrote it.I have always loved this song. Its my favorite from them.
NUNO BETTENCOURT IS DELICIOUS!!
his twin uncles are famous? they started A.I.M.!! the Bettencourt brothers.
Portuguese candy, baby.
Portuguese Everly Brothers. Reminds me of Cathy's Clown a slight bit with the harmonies.
Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon did a great version of this video.
😂
Please watch it India! 🙏🙏🙏

One of the most beautiful songs ever written
It's a classic ...,plain and simple!
You'd probably get a shock if you bought their album based on this slow love song. Great song ...
Amazing song! You should do Hole Hearted by Extreme as well. It is another acoustic but on the faster end.

Probably is the song I have listened to the most. Watching the video, Nuno is such a beautiful man , he makes you weak in the knees. Wow!!!!
Actions speak louder than words great ms india
Besides his good looks, Nuno Bettencourt is also a very good guitarist.
I love watching Nuno play *sigh* xo
I forgot about how hot he was! OH MY GOODNESS!!
He was the best! 😍

Love the portuguese flag in the back.
Nuno Bettencourt is great.
Na verdade nunca tinha reparado nesse detalhe..
Nuno Alves Enche o coração, não é?
This isn’t a slow jam, this is THE slow jam.
Love this song❤
Love this song. ❤️

I love ur reactions so much. Im a fan. Anytime im searching a song reaction vid I always look for you.
Great music aside, can we take a minute to appreciate the eye candy, here??! 😜
Are you talking about India? Or my bois? yeah you could tell she was thinking not bad for a couple white guys I'm captivated by India her heart shows in what she does
And she's fine
My husband hates the song and every boyfriend before too. So what, I love it.
Probably because they couldn't sing as well. lol
I remember when this came out my girlfriend got the cd and I made her so mad making fun of it but it grew on me. I dig it:)
You are a woman I would totally groove with, due to your love of just THIS song :)
I can tell you why guys hate it.....If you know anything about Extreme's music this is a complete 180 from what they usually do. It's a complete sell out in comparison to their average song. @@prprod At least this is a good song. As opposed to that Butterfly song by that other band.
Pretty song! I’m so nostalgic over this song. My big sis’ fave song and I miss her 😢
On another note, I love watching your chocolate melt..😂
Beautiful song! And I sure do miss the long hair!!!
Now that '80's music is considered oldies and I hear it everywhere (when we could go anywhere, I mean)....I bust out singing this song when I hear it. No matter where I'm at or what I'm doing. The harmony is great.
Oh boy rub it in, we are getting old! Just kidding, we made it to midlife! Thank you God!
Nino,at the guitar, is so gorgeous😍😍😍😍.I love this song since my teenage years
I walked down the aisle to this
Love Xtremes "Mor Than Words".. Great song choice
Check “get the funk out” by extreme, Nuno really shines there
Agreed! You really should react to Get the Funk Out. Awesome song!!
This was the beginning of MTV'S "UNPLUGGED" series. Taking heavy rockers and unplugging them. Awesome song.
This is what I loved. I was a child when Headbanger's ball came out on MTV, but the 90's really added an element of emotional pain to the rock/metal genre, that I still love to this day.
The beginning of the unplugged series was the band Tesla they did an whole acoustic album The Five Man Acoustical Jam
Gary was a quiet kid he used to play out in Boston with friends band grew up next City over from me Medford .. Revere
I love this song. "Never Knew You", is also a very good song, by a seldom played band called Rootjoose",it has a similar feeling to "More Than Words".
Remember when they came on the scene. Rolling down our street singing with my sister's jammed loud cruising to hang out learning how friendship cames first.
Old school classic here. . Great SONG
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Would kill for Nuno's hair! So shiny! lol
Im sorry but every time i see this video I think of Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon doing this cover lol.
Ikr
A couple of known clowns covering my song!
😂
@@poguemom3 hahhahahaha
Great song loved it then still do now, would like them to do A Capella.
On my playlist
the glow in your face
The guitar player plays for Rihanna now
Nuno bettencourt
He was a guest musician...
This one got played every thirty minutes on the radio. Pretty good one hit wonder band
Queen India
You are going to love this
They’re brothers, it’s ‘blood harmony’.
This song brings me back to my childhood.
for comparison, you should hear/watch the Jack Black & Jimmy Fallon version.
Great song, I always laugh every time I hear it.
Songs like this made you think, maybe Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel like numbers could make a comeback in the '90s, but they were too few!

Love love love this song
My daughter played this constantly when it came out.
I always thought he looked like Daniel Day Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans
Nuno Bettencourt 😍😍 swoon!
Indeed!
Was there ever a more beautiful man...?
Listen to hole hearted by extreme it's good
Mr. Big's "To Be With You" is another stripped down song by a rock band that was huge around this same time. Extreme's breakthrough song, "Mutha (Don't Wanna Go to School Today)" is a good one, as is "Decadence Dance" off the same album as this one.
These guys could tear it up, too.....try Mama, Don't Wanna Go To School or Get The Funk Out :D
"Kid Ego" and "Mutha" are two great Rocking songs by these guys.
Another great song from the time Queensryche-Silent lucidity. I believe he was another rocker trained as an opera singer
Simplicity at it's best.
Nuno Bettencourt. Just damn. Damn. Straight hair.
India melts ! ❤️✌️
@India Reacts Now you need to react to Get the Funk Out, also by Extreme.
Who didn’t have a crush on Nuno?!
Still do
I like both of them😀💞
Brilliant
Love love this song my friend 😘
Lovely Song and Reaction...:)
Extreme has some butt kicking rock. My favorite is Money (In god we trust). Interestingly that song follows More than Words on the Pornograffiti album. Loved your reaction. Peace.
Love in an action word.
Beautiful song
This is from their second album. You have to check out these two songs from their first album. One is called mother don't want to go to school today. And the other is called play with me
Judy Collins recorded Amazing Grace acapella.
This was one of my wedding songs on 1993.
This was my wedding song in '90...you should check out Nuno Bettencourt's solo album Schizophonic.
In my opinion, Nuno is the most underrated guitarist in the world.
Nuno is just 😍👌🔥
