"Soooo, do you know where we are going?" "Hmmm, I don't know." The crystal in her hand thrummed softly, casting a faint halo of color around itself, a ring of light upon the gloomy field. "But I know that this thing wants to go somewhere, so that's where we are going" "Where do you think it is trying to take us?" "Hopefully someplace nice, a place we can relax at, enjoy, together" "......." "Seems kind of silly to let a rock give us directions" "Well your a bird, you only know how to go north and south" "heh, touché." The mood settled into a comfortable silence, sharing in each others company, making the dim fields feel just a bit less dark "So, how do we know when we are there?" "..." And in that moment the clouds cleared away, revealing the night sky in all its majesty. The stars perfectly aligned above, shining down on the wanderers below. "I think we already are"
The sky is dark, but the air is still warm. I see grass peeking out through the field, while my snow prints follow behind me. the creatures follow after me, I'm... not sure why. I don't know what I'll find, or even where I'm going through this field. Life... it's just felt so off lately. I take out the pink crystal once more holding it to the sky, it shines gently as the sun starts to rise. While it's still an unsure time, I hope that it will be a wonderful spring.
Just realized it's been over 3 months since the last Sketch. I never realized how much I actually love listening to these. I almost look forward to these more than the covers or orchestrated versions of other songs. I've been listening to It's Getting Colder since it came out exclusively with your other winter themed music. I think it just goes to show that we all love your work, Rush. Keep the masterpieces coming!
A girl joining an unseen procession of otherworldly entities A world turned pale from forces opposed to one another The question we have is Will this young one be the one to bring color back to this bleached world we fools created? .........I wish that we weren't so foolish to begin with nor did we have to burden the young with such a legacy
The eyes of the young see so much Much that the eyes of the foolish have forgotten The young one will see it such That the world misbegotten Will be reawakened.
The young girl trudged through the snow, a procession of lively colours following behind her. The only colours but white and black that could be seen for miles. Behind and to the left of the group was a vast snowfield, bleached so white that it seemed to glow and light the way despite the lack of a visible sun. To the left, clouds so blackened with ash and soot and smoke and carbon that it seemed to take light into itself like a hungry beast, starved and ravenous. The light of the sun at this time of day somewhere beyond it. The girl glanced at the telephone poles, a sign the Otherside was being invaded, slowly infected by Reality, or Earth it was once known before Humans seared it, broke it, and ruptured it. Now Man was fewer, hiding in cities, bastions of colour that hopelessly, uselessly, fought against the bleach and smog. Their only salvation was the songful Otherside, until Reality started to pollute that too. The girl trudged through the snow that seemed to weigh heavy on her shoes, or was that the weight of her fear? The procession was quiet and sombre. The reality of their situation, their hopelessness in where to turn to fix the world, the loss of the Teller who once guided their way, so wise and whimsical he was who always knew the path. Many things weighed them down. But they had to go on, they had to keep walking, get to the next city or Otherbeacon, but even that was proving harder and harder as the light of hope faded from everyone's eyes. But as the girl looked up, expecting to see white of white and black of black. She gasped, she saw something new, and light seemed to return to her gaze, the others turned their eyes up and gaped in awe. There was light! Light in the Blackenclouds! It wasn't possible, but there it was, stars, which the girl had only heard and dreamed of seemed to fall and fall and fall, illuminating a section of the clouds with pink and yellow and bright prismatic light. The stars seemed to shift as they fell, becoming birds of all kinds and taking flight, descending and descending towards the grimfallen group. The birds were see-through and made of pinkish yellow crystal, the colour of, at least in the stories, dawn. All shapes and sizes the birds were, doves, heron, crane, sparrows, swan. But the brightest and largest of them all, a goose. The girl's eyes widened, "Mother goose! Agartha!" she called, as tears started to well in her eyes and the flock of crystal birds landed around the group. The goose landing with a flutter of snow before slowly morphing into the humanoid form of a mature woman draped in a feathered cloak. The girl threw down her pack and ran towards the woman, grasping onto the feathers as she cried into the warmth of Agartha's embrace, "Don't cry sweet child, it doesn't suit you, where was that brave girl who lectured me about how I was so very wrong." The motherly figure soothed. Yet the girl continued to weep, the others started to cry too, so overwhelmed they were from the pains and troubles of life. And so they sat there a while, being comforted and playing with the birds of bright light. As the girl stopped crying Agartha stood, using her thumb to wipe the wetness from the girl's eyes, "I see you have lost your lantern and cannot proceed through the darkness, do not fret, we will light the way to the next Otherbeacon for you." The girl, still sulky went to thank her but was stopped mid breath as Mother Goose handed her a crystal of bright verdant pink that had been hidden by her cloak eliciting a gasp from the girl, "all is not lost yet." She reassured, "do not lose heart now." She continued as she began to shrink ever so slightly, turning into a goose again before flying towards the darkness, the other birds began to take lift as well, following Mother Goose. The girl looked to the crystal in her hand, a crystal of spring. Another ingredient they would need to create the Seed of Day and Night. As the procession gathered around her to look at the item, the girl gasped once again, there on the crystal plain as day was a post-it note which read: Do not give up now, I'm sure we will meet again :) -Teller The post-it note was passed from one hand to another, each expressing surprise and delight. This was such very good news that some of the Otherkin of the group began to dance. The girl picked up her pack that lay in the snow, clutching the crystal in hand and began to walk towards the brightened part of the dark and roiling clouds. The others followed, and though she did not dance, or laugh. Inside she felt delighted, and if one looked closely, they could see the little spring in her step and the light twinkling in her eyes.
I was having a pretty rough day at school and this was just the thing to make me feel better. Thanks, Rush ❤️ Please continue to do your thing and make the most incredibly inspiring music
