honestly yonex vcore pro is very underrated.
Yonex has the best quality control in all of the tennis market, everything is underrated tbh
Just having good quality control doesn't mean you have the best product. I have the best quality control when I cook eggs cause I do it in my house, yet any IHOP will have much better tasting eggs than mine. It's amazing how brainwashed some simple factory tour video has made people.
@@drdickenbalz I get your point, but Yonex has good rackets anyway
@@drdickenbalz "It's amazing how brainwashed some simple factory tour video has made people." What do you even mean? Yonex *delivers* high quality as Jonas said in this video, many comments here, reddit, TWH or the comparison video from Tennis Spin. It's from experience with their actual racquets, the question to if they match your taste, boils down (lol) to personal preference anyway, but at least you really do get what you paid for...
@@Krischan04 Meeting specifications of a racket has nothing to do with the actual QUALITY of the racket. Yonex is just good at meeting the specs consistently. That doesn't mean they use better materials or have better technology in their rackets. There's nothing in Yonex rackets that makes them any higher quality than other leading rackets on the market. You bought into the marketing hype, that's all.
@@drdickenbalz Nah, that's just wrong you don't even know what quality control means. =D
"That doesn't mean they use better materials or have better technology in their rackets." This is irrelevant and has not been said by anyone, it's a pure strawman.
Nice content, cheers Jonas
Yonex Vcore Pro 97 2009 fits perfectly my style. I love it!!
Well done!
Big Yonex fan.
Nice video mate.
With the new Ezone paint job coming out I was able to pick up an old ezone 100 demo model on sale cheap. A great racquet! Absolutely love it
Another great video review. It does need to be said that Yonex frames hit/feel nothing like babolat so just because they have specific "families" for spin/control/power the specs/stiffness/feel are totally different. That being said in my opinion Yonex makes superior frames to all the others on the market right now and the only others in their league are the Wilson RF97 and Ultra tour. Everything else these days is shadow tech and nothing like the amazing frames of the late 90's & early 2000's. (Angell doesn't count I'm only referencing the mass market brands)
Yonex Brand Ambassador here :)
I picked up the ezone 98 tour recently and on the first hit with nrg2 at 55#, I found it hella stiff causing forearm/wrist fatigue/soreness, even with a multi. Once it broke it coming down probably 50# and below, it was nice. I think it can still use a bit of weight in the handle to improve the HLness, but otherwise awesome racquet now that I'm adjusting. Not gonna go above 50# on the next string job for sure...
Ezone 100 felt amazing when i demoed it. Felt pretty good for months but wrist pain crept up on me. Going to try vcore pro 100 as I love the feel of the ezone but first time with arm pain in 30 years.
Great video as always. Is it possible for you to do a video on the top tennis racquets of all time based on brand or top older racquets that can still be used today? Pretty sure it would be a big help for people looking out for bargains on older products. I recently got the Head Microgel Radical Pro for dirt cheap and found that its still good as any. Cheers
Switched to Yonex from Babolat last year. Haven’t looked back since 😎
Same for me, went from some Aeros to 97 Vcore Pro HD. Suites me sooo much better
This must be a new trend..
From wich racquet to wich raquet?, there are good ones on both brands
@@jlparcerisa from the 2021 Babolat pure drive to the ezone 98 tour.
Also had a previous generation pure drives before the 2021 model. I had been using pure drives since high school (10+ years)
@@gregiffer did you tried the pure Strike before making the switch?, seems like a better equivalent to the eZone
After a long journey through a few different brands I finally found tennis heaven with the Vcore 98 Galaxy black 2019. It feels like an extension of my arm. Very stable for it's weight, great spin and manoeuvrabilty. Yonex is a classy brand 👌
Im looking for a new one and this sounds amazing but its discontinued
Are you using the 280 gm or 300 gm frame
Thanks for doing this video as not much is not know about the Yonex line.
Request if you can do similar video for Wilson and comparing all brands (babolat, Wilson, head, yonex) into one video to one ready reckoner.
Pro Staff user for years. Arm injury prompted move to something more flexible so went for the DR98. Love it!
How hasnt everyone realized that yonex makes the best quality rackets ?? Or is it just me
Got a few weeks ago 3 Rackets to equalize. They were really close together. Swingweight+-2, Bal.+-0,2cm and Weight +-0,4g. Thats absolutely crazy. Love it.
@@danielr.9516 Yonex-es are essentially factory matched.
Yonex quality control is very strict
@@ariefpoerniawan Thats just the way it should be done when you buy a racket for 200$
Made in Japan!
This should be a good interesting video!
Hi, I'm 13 years old and I'm just starting tennis. I really like the Yonex rackets mostly because of Krygios but I still think they're very cool. I was wondering which racket I should get if I'm just going to start tennis at my school in the spring. I'm around 5'5 and like 100 pounds. If you have any suggetsions let me know.
I find the Ezone 98 Tour a good racket. But after trying for 6 months I can't really get used to it. First, its muted to me at tension at 54. At 52 its even more muted. Def good for those with acute elbow issues. There is no easy power instead one really must have a good consistent fully swing to harness the racket. I am back to my Pure Aero Tour for easy power and more noticeable spin. The Ezone gives more flat shots. Don't get me wrong the Ezones are good rackets and in the hands of a player with good technique, the racket is a good choice.
I have an extended pure drive and an extended ezone dr. Really like the extra length
2:53 I love how you don't even mention Steve Johnson. Could have been interesting info for people that like to slice their backhand lol
Good timing, I've just been offered Yonex sponsorship and need to demo their rackets before deciding whether to switch. :)
that's very cool. Good luck.
How did you go about getting that? Are you Futures level player or top 100 in your country?
@@mattiastennis Before the pandemic I was 72 in the UK, I'm partly getting it for playing and partly coaching.
@@NickPeters-kc2ct Ok. So like Seniors tour then. For the coaching did you have to apply or was this a deal in your area with other coaches?
What tension will be more beneficial for the Ezone 98?
Hi Jonas
Great work as always. Some Friends and I would really like to see a TN review of the vcore PRO 100 !!! Si please, please : make one !!!! 😜
Yonex has by far the best quality control, and all lines except for their beginner racquets (Astrel) are made in Japan. The best thing about Yonex's quality control is knowing if you buy a second or third racquet off the shelf the specs will be very similar, unlike Wilson where two of the same racquets off the shelf could feel completely different (balance, weight, balance weight).
Only complain with Yonex I have is the bottom of the grip, there is not enough buttcap flare.
You should watch tennisspin’s new video about gripping rackets 😉. I found it helpful for gripping my yonex racket
Astrel is made in japan
easy fix, take an old overgrip and wrap your preferred layers on the bottom.
What do you think about the EZONE 98L? Would work for an intermediate rising player, 28 years old?
I used a vcore pro97 for a couple of months before selling it to get another Wilson 6.1 95. It was never really my primary racquet but I always thought it played quite well.
Could you make a video on quality control from different companies? Worst to best and if they range from different racquet lines?
there’s a tennis spin video on this i think. yonex is the best. wilson is the worst. doesnt matter if you buy two at the same time and ask them to match racquets
Hello - which of the yonex range is best for beginners?
Nice coverage of the 2021 YONEX line. A great company with the best quality control in the entire industry by far. One caveat for you guys considering the new VCORE 95. The RA of 64 is misleading and you WILL be disappointed if you are looking for true 64-65 RA as a replacement for the now discontinued SV 95. This 2021 95 is more stable and appears to ramp up the control factor when compared to the 2018 version though. What' happened here is that the 64 RA applies in the top of the frame but by the time you get to the throat it plays more like a 62 RA. So the playing character is still fairly flexy just more stable and with a touch greater control. If you are looking for a true 64-65+ RA in a 95 inch form factor this is definitely not it. There is a gaping hole in the YONEX lineup. They would do well to develop an EZONE based 95 inch frame with a 16x20 string pattern. This design would retain most of the control of the 2021 VCORE 95 combined with the firepower that is typical of a true 64-65 RA.
Which is better the ezone or the babolat pure drive?
VCore Pro 97HD is the best frame I’ve ever tried.
Definitely deserved a better name though 😅
How does the frame play out? Can you hit flat shots? And just how controlled is the frame?
@@utkarshamar1841 I'm more of an aggressive baseliner. Can definitely spin the ball! Can hit flat shots, slice, volleys! Great stick
@@jameslu1978 how big is your swing? I have a pretty compact swing, and I tend to hit flatter on the forehand side.
I am confused between Ezone 100 and 100L. I tried the unstrung racket at a shop but didn't feel any difference. I am not sure between the two. My grip is G2
Do you know of a site that allows me to compare rackets. The v core 100 16/ 19 string pattern 280G red. this racket has a weird shape not egg or pear its more elongated head. Any where on the racket will tell me the head shape??
a heavier vcore 98 tour would be interesting
Would anyone recommend the Ezone racket for a beginner to intermediate player? There’s so many rackets to choose from I have no idea.
Enjoying your super informative reviews! Would moving from a babolat pure drive 100 sq in to a 98 sq in pure strike, assuming that both are 16x19, result in reduced spin potential? And is there a very noticeable difference in the extent of the sweet spot?
Lies again? YALE YONEX
I did this a few months back, and you do get slightly less spin, but the spin you do have feels much more controlled, thanks to the thinner beam. As for the sweetspot it is smaller, but you will adapt to it very easily
hi TN. is there a specific spec(s) that you look at to see if a racquet generates more/less spin?
Hi Paul, coming in a specific video very soon!
What strings You could recommend for ezone 100 and what tension?
Depends on the strings your running or combo of string So?
Yonex - great frames but often weak, poor quality grommets. Customer service - difficult.
Is Vcore the continuation of RDiS?
something in between the vcore pro 310 and vcore pro 330 would be nice (with open pattern). one too light, other too heavy.
Just buff up the 310 version.. i have the 310 and I use a double grip and use lead tape at 3 and 9
Is there a Yonex similar to the pro staff? Thanks, good review btw.
yep - the vcore pro line is similar to the pro staff line. both straight beams and focused on control and feel.
It s control frame but definitly not the same , Vcore pro its more like the ultra tour , pro staff is a little bit more stiff and more pop , and also has more touch and response i think , I have the sensation i cut more the ball with the pro staff . I think the isometric system it s very nice and more sweet but you loose a little bit of sensation . It s a different feeling , I think vcore pro line it s more like a prestige line if i had to compare .
the yonex 95 is the closet to the pro staff and yonex 95 comes with even more spin than the pro staff
Yes more spin but not the same . I think pro staff is very distinct . For me Vcore 95 is more like prestige with more spin and response , more "lively" . Very difficult to compare . Vcore 95 is a" babolat like" but in 95 with a think beam and more flex , it s a very particular feeling . The Pro staff is more solid , the prestige has a butter feel and is very sweet . Vcore 95 is more agressive but still very control and offer a better manuvarability.
Vcore 95 with lead tape plays like pro staff.
YAAYYYY :)
Which one is best for comfort?
all the yonex with the VDM technology . The Vcore pro 100 ( green edition) it s very comfortable , ezone it s good but more stiff , Still more comfortable than babolat ( a lot) .
Which one would you recommend to a flat hitter?
the denser the string bed the better for flat hitters so the Vcore Pro HD would be my first choice and Vcore95 my second
Vcore 95 is a solid racket, big fan. 97 HD is a great stick as well, pretty difficult to use and I’m a 5.5 ntrp if that helps ....
the HD is a beast! But i agree Ramz you need to have some serious skills to wield that stick but it will reward you with precision, touch and feel and some pop if you can generate some racket head speed. I only played with the Vcore95 once and didn't like it but need to give it another shot I think.
@@MMm-kp7lk definitely, the HD is really one of the most special rackets I have tried and I will always will keep an HD in my bag. For match play i prefer a stick that will give me a little extra help if I get tired or tense and the vcore 95 is the best of both worlds in my opinion if that makes sense. I would also recommend the new radical pro, might even be better than the vcore for me because it is slightly more forgiving but still provides so much controllable power. Can’t go wrong with any of the three in my opinion though..
@@ramz8248 I also played with the Dunlop CX-200 tour 18x20 that is a nice stick too but that would require some customization. I just hammer the ball w the HD; I only play doubles and have a second home at the net lol. I am a 4.5 that was lucky enough to get rated down to a 5.0 but former college player. I used to play w the ROK 93 so I put a premium on feel and control. I just dont like the pallets for head rackets; a component of rackets that people vastly under estimate in my opinion I can only play with Yonex, Prince, Dunlop or Wilson.
What is so bullshit is that in Australia its borderline near impossible to buy Yonex Ezone 98 Plus..
Vcore 95
If one of nerd friends have a choice to buy a Rds 002 tour, rds 001 mp or rd7...go for it, no doubt¡¡
ezone xi 98 or ai 98
Made NOT in China like bigger brands with suberp quality and clever engineering... YY
I seriously want Wilson and Head to move to Japan
@@jorgeandrescoppiano.5715 It would be even better if some were in Europa especially Head which used to make some lines in Oesterreich or Czechia not long ago...
What could be the best set up for a 2021 babolat pure drive. Strings, grip , weight , etc..?
You could always throw it in a fire. That would help.
I dont know why the other guy said that, play with what you enjoy. Maybe a softer polyester string could work since the Pure Drive is pretty stiff, I personally wouldn't add too much weight I dont think its necessary, and I really enjoy the Yonex Super Grap or Tourna Grip over grips
@@NickJ2473 💀😂😂
Ignore the hate. The pure drive has been a very successful racket at all levels, right to the top of the pro game. If someone doesn't like it, it just doesn't fit their game and for some reason that seems to annoy people.
Anyway, as for what works best with a pure drive, well, that's ultimately up to what pairs well with how you use it. Get two or more pure drives, ideally matched spec wise, and experiment!
I currently use a pure drive that weighs 328g unstrung with a strung swing weight of 343. I use a full bed of Signum Pro Firestorm at 51lbs.
This setup pairs perfectly with my heavy game. It's rather essential though to generate good rpms to control the power of such a setup, so not one for flat hitters.
Yonex is the best brand, change my mind.
BWEH
No, Dunlop & Head made better racquets...but now, Yonex rocks
I mean they do silly stuff like all other brands (recent Vcore paint job comes to mind...and noooo that's totally not subjective) but at the moment they are the best. All the other brands can suck it for producing everything in China and just cashing in...I could live with worse quality control than Yonex, but not with that pricing.
yonex fboi smh my head
@@jason6344shaking my head my head smh
Yonex all day
It is useless to talk about quality control of Yonex: made in Japan with 1% tolerance, where other brands (Head, Wilson, Babolat) are made in China with 5-10% tolerance. But Yonex marketing SUCKSSSS.
Such a fan of extended length racquets? Interesting? I think most pros would scoff at them.
Never understand the purpose of videos like this when the narrator really did nothing more than just reciting printed specs... What is the point?
