- EDDIE COCHRAN'S GRETSCH 6120 GUITAR AT EDDIE'S MUM'S HOUSE
IN 1992 A YOUNG ROCK A BILLY BASS PLAYER FROM THE UK, CALLED RON ED, HAD THE PLEASURE OF GOING TO AMERICA TO EDDIE COCHRAN'S HOUSE TO MEET HIS MUM AND SISTER AND RON GOT TO HOLD EDDIE'S FAMOUS GRETSCH 6120 GUITAR
Eddie's mum kept it in a glass case for decades. She died in 1994 and the guitar is in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame museum now.
Can you just imagine what its like, to hold Eddies Beautiful Gretsch Guitar, It would be a Dream come true, Rest in Peace Eddie you can never ever be replaced.
Them boys were so respectful, you can tell the nervous tension holding it afraid of breaking a string!!!! God bless
A very moving video. Even through the screen you can almost feel Eddie's presence hovering around that wonderful guitar, as if his soul and his wonderful music have been absorbed into it.
Ive played guitar since 1964 and finally bought my first Gretsch - a 6120
very similar and of course that color. No othef guitars have this sound. Mine is a 2016 made in Japan wkthout the G branding .
thsnks for posting tnis!
This is awesome. I’m very glad it’s not in a museum. Hope it remains in the family, as it should.
It is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio with other Eddie's memorables.
Although it is specified as being on loan from the family. I imagine that they consider that's not only the safest place for it to be, but thousands of Eddie's fans will be able to see it.@@Tami9
Very respectful. Thank you for sharing this.
Im a lefty, always wanted a Gretch like Eddies but couldnt find the spare cash (yet) ive been to chipp'whiltshire...the crash site. An Emotional video ❤ big thanks for sharing.
That's really something to have the actual guitar. a Gretsch 6120, one of my favourite hollow bodied guitars, from 1955.
OMG, that’s my friend Ron holding a priceless guitar.❤️🎸
Awesome!!!
marvellous footage of the great man's guitar. loved all his music and songs.
fantastique ...... thank a lot ! ! ! !
Man that guitar one of a kind I love gretsch
There you go all you guitar lovers, look after your guitar and it will look after you!
Love this. Thanks for sharing.
What an honour! Great video
Legendary axe
Iconic Treasure
He was so young to die, imagine what he'd have done musically in the 70s/80s. His poor mum. So sad.
In the 60s even,he was so progressive. He would have took to the blues and r n b scene like a duck out of water
legendaire
🤩🎵WOW
Coolness
James Intveld is in this video
The true king of music. Thank you Eddie❤
Nope, that'd be Elvis. Don't even argue the point because you'd just sound stupid. Unlike you, I don't feel the need to make some pointed remark about another artist because I admire another, so I'm just pointing out a fact, not disrespecting Eddie Cochran.
poor old Eddie. taxi driver speeding
hi Ron didn't know you met Eddie Cochran's mother from Les
Hi Les glad you enjoyed it take care 😊
Holllllllll'y Shiiiit.
"Is that the original strings on there?...."
"Yes- they are the original strings"
Strikes a chord- - TwiNg!!!!
Whoops 🙄- Strings need changing
Sniffs strings... "these smell like Dave Dee's fingers!!" 😁
What a great video!! Just wondering if anyone knows because I’ve never heard it talked about. The “Clear pick guard” did he take the original and remove the gold from the back or make a new one?
yes he remove the gold paint and the Chet Atkins name
Eddie scrapped all the paint off the scratch plate because he didn't care for the Chet Atkins name on it
He didn't scrape it off nor did he fir the P60 pick up himself. He got the guitar shop to do it.
👍👍🇩🇪
Man i thought he might have played it
Play dat classic guitar lol !
Why is the saddle straight? It's usually slanted
Ritchie Valens borrowed that guitar from Eddie for his role in the film Great balls of fire " I think that's the name"
"Go Johnny Go" was the movie. Chuck Berry was intended to be the main attraction, but after Valens' death he became the biggest draw since so little footage of him performing was ever taken, and even less exists now.
That wasn't Eddie's guitar. That was just another Gretsch 6120. If you look closely, you can see that the pickguard isn't clear, and it still has the stock neck pickup. 2 different guitars of the same make.
As much as I’d love to see it in a museum. I agree, no no…no.
I would at least put the guitar in a secure vault because anyone could steal it.
And have it insured for a million dollars!!!
@@paulmcwilliams1709 It was the '90s, not necessary.
Why these people holding something so sacred, it should be in a museum
Definitely iconic and a important piece of music history.
Interesting wee video. I have no idea who the english chap is/was with the flattened vowels. . I always thought the daryl himan felloe was the only englishman with a hardon for eddie cochran. What's Jimmie Intvelds connection to the video i wonder....
It's Eddie Cochran's original guitar strap, and you are letting someone else put that on and put tension on it , oh no !
Looks like it was preserved pretty well at the time, i mean it was with the family and pretty much stayed in a case. You know that straps made out of leather right? Puttijg tension on it doesnt mean its gonna snap like a rubber band
@@knightfall9394 a 65-year-old guitar strap dries out and can break , everything dries out and comes loose
@@antoniosantorini9355 did it ever occur to that maybe they were properly treating the leather (you know you can do that right) if I remember right his mom just pretty much kept the guitar in its case so its not like it was exposed to anything
@@knightfall9394 why let other people touch it and get their greasy hands all over that guitar..you want to keep it un touched or you are rubbing away Eddies DNA
@@antoniosantorini9355 lol were they supposed to clone him, you seem really bothered by this, maybe you should reach out to the family and tell them how you feel
That should not be touched with bare hands, rather handled like papyrus rolls or ancient stuff in museums.
Should be wearing white gloves.
Why would you allow people to be holding this thing putting stress on the guitar strap putting their oily hands all over it.. should be in a glass case
Oh do shut up.
You're a total fanny, man.
