Same! I was actually shocked that this was Bomb Jack all the time, the same game I had on my gameboy when I was 10 years old. It had a very different plot and maybe because of the black and white gameplay. I never realized that this was Bomb Jack when I played it on the NES when I was 5 years old. Now I'm 26. Lol
I loved how Tecmo took its arcade titles and gave them additional depth when they translated them to the NES. Bomb Jack, Rygar and Ninja Gaiden became full on adventure games instead of arcade titles. Solomon's Key was the only title that stayed mostly the same, but they did add a lot of new features to it.
absolutely i think it was the fact my mind at age 5-6 couldnt process randomly spawning enemies, usually in other games they are in a plane of existence that i can walk towards and that i could see coming but having a seemingly infinite number of enemies spawn out of nowhere in a box like maze of a play area was nerve wrecking
It came to me that I played 3 games mostly in my childhood years, now I think of it for some reason. They were: Mortal Kombat 3, Street Fighter 6 12 peoples, and Super Mario Brothers. I would definitely play one of these three arcade games every day. Hey there are the days.

I would’ve beaten this game when I was a teenager. I had the game genie in and I was trying to beat it. But my dad at the time was expanding our driveway and patio and building a shed. He wanted me to help him with those projects and I hated helping him with projects. If I didn’t do something right like he wanted I would get yelled at. I still have PTSD from it.
