Finemolds Type 97 Japanese tank (Shinhoto Chi-Ha Early Hull). Full build with terrain base and US Marine figures from Masterbox. The tank is built in Japanese three colour camouflage with yellow disruptive stripe. The US Marine figures are painted in the beach camo scheme and blue / green HBT uniform. The terrain base is made from AK Interactive Beach acrylic paste mixed with a variety of diorama materials including static grass. All of the colours used are shown at the relevant points in the video. You can buy the kit here: www.hlj.com/1-...

I find these types of videos very calming and therapeutic. Also I like to see what I can add to some models when I start the hobby more.
Thanks. Glad to hear you're getting into the hobby more.
The dobermans are among the best pieces of the entire scene! GREAT JOB.
Thank you Lawrence - that's especially good to hear because I almost decided to leave them out!
Great job on the diorama looks so realistic And I like how you added the Dobermans it reminds me of my dog he’s a Doberman and his name is Rex
Thanks mate, much appreciated!
Workflow, voice, result - superb.
Thanks buddy
Amazing diorama. Keep up the incredible work 👍
Thanks a lot!
Excellent work and thank you for posting this video showing your techniques. I'm a novice model maker and this will really help me to get started.
Thanks Curt. Good luck with your model making!
The weathering looks great!
Thanks mate
Nice diorama ! 🙂
Thanks mate - I'm glad you liked it
Superb diorama , excelent work , great painting and weathering . The action... make belive I am there and watching the event .🏆🏅👍👏👏👏
Thanks mate, much appreciated.
Very, very nice dio I have to say
Many thanks Nicole.
Stellar job on both the diorama fixtures and the model tank.....great colours and textures giving the feel of the story. Really like the camo job on the tank and the painting of the figures...human and animal! Your commentary is always interesting and you have a quietly spoken and calm way of telling the story....thank you.
Thanks Robbo - I appreciate your comments :)
Wow amazing
I can watch Hours by hours
This video i like it💚✌️
Great art hand painting
Thank you! Cheers!
Tank looks great - love the Japanese camo, great job. Base looks really good - looks just like I imagine the PTO beach heads to look like. Great job all round.
Thanks mate, much appreciated. I think I'm going to do a few more Japanese tanks once I've cleared out the stash a bit.
Nice background music. Really nice touch of adding canines with the Marines. You don't see that often in dioramas. The dogs look great to me, nice blending of their colors.
Thank you, Henry. I've got a few kits that include animals (dogs and horses especially), but they're tough to paint. Glad you think these ones look decent.
Hi..I love your build and scene..Also great video.Clear and descriptive..Can I ask where in the U.K you got your Fine Molds kit from..Can’t find a supplier in the U.K only Amazon prices.!..Thank you and all the best.👍
Thank you mate. I got the Finemolds kit in either Singapore or Japan - I can't remember which. I think it may have been ordered online from HLJ actually.
did you know american tank crews actually used to prefer using HE shells for Japanese tanks over AP as the armour was so thin the HE shells would penetrate the riveted armour often only and inch thick and explode inside the tank and rupture it internally, whilst the ap would often pass right through them not doing much damage.
Nice work on the build, feel like it should be on Tarawa? looking at the uniforms and diorama
Hi Sam. Yes, I think I did read that somewhere. I knew the armour was super thin for sure.
Hi Matt, great job. Love the way the terrain is not covering the base completely, gives it a really cool look. Hope to catch up soon mate, stay safe 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Unusual subject and perfect esecution, Well done!!!
Thanks!
Keep the good work up
Thanks, I'll try!
It's nice painting work. I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you !!
Thank you! Yes, I'm very happy with the paintwork on this tank.
Interesting subject and wonderful work, I do like the impressive job on the ground...
Thanks Phil. I want to do a few more bases like this - not really big enough to be a diorama, but something to display vehicles on rather than just a shelf.
Love the diorama it’s very nice
Thanks Jackson
I’ve not seen 1/35th Doberman’s before and didn’t realise they were used by the US forces in the war. Enjoyed the video especially laying in bed watching on a Sunday morning with a cup of tea. A nice looking dio by the way and look forward to your next build.
Thanks Simon. I didn't realise the extent to which dogs were used either. Really interesting stuff.
my only critic is the impact area should have some marks around is almost unnotisable, even the bazooka leaves marks arround the hole, also the tank has a ammo rack at that point, but we can say they were incredibly lucky,
but the diorama is quite nice
Hi. I thought that too, but I've also seen images like this where the hole is quite clean (although the tank itself has a bit more damage). commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:American_Sherman_tank_after_destroying_a_Japanese_tank.jpg
Nice job! Nothing to worry about not having Vallejo. You are better off using Tamiya. I wish I could get my hands on a Fine Molds kit of ANY kind. But, I can't. Great subject matter, too. Japanese armor is kind of a forgotten or over looked subject. Enjoyed it, my friend.
Thanks Stephen. Yes, I find Fine Molds quite hard to get hold of too. I think I ordered this one from HobbyLink Japan. They're not cheap kits either, although they have the best range of Japanese vehicles I think.
@@ModelNerd That's good to know. Dragon has a few Japanese armor kits, but; those are usually out of stock or backordered.
素晴らしい!
Thank you :)
*The tank is highly detailed, i didn't know this brand and it seems to be very good! Nice diorama, dogs under army service are not really shown in model. 👍*
*A little miss : the mud should have cover the road wheels of the tank. Great job finally!*
Thanks, glad you liked it.
One dislike from knocked out tank crew.
Haha
Wow really nice job on the tank and the figures! The dust effect came out much better than the lee. Though, I found a slight flaw: since the Japanese vehicles were lightly Armored, the American tanks mainly used APHE shells (armored piercing high explosive) which broke into fragments after penetration. If it was a APHE shell that knocked out the tank then there would be more damage to the vehicle and maybe a fire. Also maybe you could add little marks around the hole to represent fragments melting the metal slightly. Other than that, Amazing work!
Thanks for the comment and the info. I made the shell hole and then sort of backed off it for some reason. Certainly some smoke would look decent.
Hi there, wanted to comment a little on your model. You said there was a 75mm sherman round penetrating the side of the chi ha, although there was a hole, it didn't really look realistic. I suggest watching "the night shift modeller" for more techniques on this matter. Also try adding a bit more rust and chips on the tank. But overall very nice model :D
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I'm a fan of Night Shift's videos. I didn't want more rust or chips because I don't think they reflect the state of a lot of vehicles in the field.
@@ModelNerd I see, as always I look forward to your next models :D
in my opinion, i think you should have kept the sausages on, it would have gone with the beach scenery.
I'm trying to think back to this kit and what this comment might relate to! :)
The dogs look ok . Steve U.K.
Thanks
Good work..The Dobermans Are a Good idea..my next Project is AFV Mamoot Rommels Staffcar..A Englisch car in Germans Duty smile
Thanks Christian. Nice project - I have the British version of that AFV, the Dorchester. It's fairly near the top of the 'to build' list.
I think it'd be better if the figures have eye contact to one another
IIRC I was going for a look where they are posing for a photograph, with the photographer off-scene
Thanks for video. Just subscribed , like armor . Looking for channels such as yours to give me more interest. Apricate your work Nick
Cheers Nick, appreciate your comment.

On your comment in the handles (timeframe 1:25), according to the following link the model seems to be correct and the instructions wrong.

Great build!
Thanks! (Sorry for my slow response - because your comment contained a link (even a UA-cam one!) the UA-cam spam filter grabbed it and I only just noticed)
Здравствуйте, мне очень нравится, получилось классно) хотел спросить, а будет ли в будущем диорама для австралийского м 3 ли? :)
Thanks. I might make a diorama for the M3, but I don't have Australian figures at the moment :(
@@ModelNerd хорошо, спасибо :)
NOT BAD DOGS AND MARINES ARE V GOOD TANK OK .
