reminds me of when JoshScorcher got bullied for being a brony when he wasn't one
and then he eventually caved in and now it's one of his main topics
I'm glad to see someone said it.
When did he say that?
I like your profile picture
Its Potential History *Chan*
What? You say we should attach bayonets to our tanks?
*APPROVED*
I guess go *BANZAI* with Japanese tanks and try to stab American tanks..... Oh wait you can't, the Shermans have better armor. Okay so try to stab American soldiers?..
Yuki Takeda: It'll make a great chopping tool but brittle as a penetrating tool. So no tank banzai, but will be great for sashimi slicing
If only gunpowder haven't been invented our tanks would be mounting giant lances right now! Curses!
wait until Panzerjagd no Fantasia anime releashed next year
But what if it had spandau machine gun that fired fire arrows ???
This isn't the collaboration we deserve, but it is one we needed, and it's glorious.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
i personally hear Battotai.
Several commenters that are smarter than me pointed out that the rear hatch is probably used to remove the gun and that makes a lot of sense given how the gun is mounted internally and couldn't be taken out of the front. Thanks guys!
For anyone interested, I have a few albums of the inside of the Type 97 on my Facebook and tumblr pages if you want to take a look. Links are in the description.
If you are feeling brave, make a drinking game out of this where you drink every time I say "Umm". If you don't die by the end of the video, you win.

Very nice video on the shinhoto chi ha it’s my favorite world war 2 tank, it would be nice if some Japanese tanks can get some love and be completely restored one day.
Adam Hanes no offense, but you're mental
i saw videos of atleast two of them running
tataveve_angel 大火 You are correct there is one shinhoto chi ha running in a museum in Moscow Russia that was assembled form a bunch of destroyed type 97s and eventually they got all the parts to restore one to running condition and I have heard of a private museum in the United States having one in running condition as well though I don’t know if it’s a shinhoto chi ha or an original with the 57mm gun.
Agreed. Japan due to a shortage of raw materials tended to sweat the tiny details and micro design every aspect of their tanks and air craft. They weren't always the best, but pound for pound, they were great.
@@adamhanes4431 I saw one in Japan too but we were not sure if it was a replica a restored one

*LAUGHS IN SHERMAN*
So beign the Gunner is basicly getting spooned by a sweaty japanese guy in a metal death trap somewhere on an island.
there's a reason why gay chicken is the official sport of lower enlisted worldwide
@@bobmcbob49 it can't be gay chicken, none of these guys are chickening out! I sucked three dicks already
12:10 There were also AP rounds for the type 1 47mm gun which could in fact penetrate a M4 Sherman tank frontally at 800 yards. Around 800 yards, The AP rounds had 58mm or 2.28 inches of penetration. The frontal hull thickness of most m4 shermans was around 51mm or 2 inches so given the right ammo, the type 1 47mm could definitely penetrate M4 Sherman's from the front. This was sourced from U.S army's "20 July 1945. Report No. 12-b(52), USSBS Index Section 6" report.
If it was using the very rare Japanese type of APCR. In most cases of tank battles I can't penetrate the Sherman. A similar battle that took place where 3 Chi-Ha and 3 Sherman's. When the last Sherman turned it's fron armor below 500 yards. It didn't go through.

Another tank meme video? Time to get the lotion ...
"It puts the lotion in the turret basket"
Wow, that special guest thing really surprised me. Super congrats for ascending from fanboy to friends (or at least acquaintance) with THE Chieftain.
So, uh, it looks like this tank's asbestos internal lining is still intact. I hope you were careful not to disturb it!
yeah, only in the very front, we made what we had to do quick and got out when we realized.
Amazing how they used that stuff all over the place for decades and people didn't just keel over dead every time they got near it, considering people seem to consider it somewhere in the vicinity of chlorine gas or radioactive waste. Unless every Japanese tank member in WW2 died of lung disease after spending days and weeks in those machines, I wouldn't worry too much.
he even included the track tensioning this is truly a wannabe's hatch
This was actually really good. Well done! Great job!
Thank you for your channel, I find it to be educational and entertaining, especially when you do what can be done on more obscure subjects and topics.
This feels like a big improvement from your first Inside the Hatch video, and it was very enjoyable, overall!

I love that you make videos about the Tanks of Japan so we can see them and not only the classic one.
the part with "here in my garage" was so funny!!!!!!
Your videos keep getting better and better, and the intro was great
It is still nice that you are giving Japanese tanks more love than other people
Finally I made it to the new upload without being 1 hours late. A thing with the Chi-ha and most japanese tanks was that the gun could be independently moved by the gunner. the guns had mounting for horzontal trunions allowing the gunner to aim without needing to turn the turret. this kinda helps with the engine "problem" you've mentioned earlier. the updated Chi-He did away with this and switched to a gear operated.
I feel really jelous seeing you do all these tank videos. too camera shy to go down rosemead tank museum a mile away from home.
Hope you do a video on the US tank destroyers especially the M18.
Ryan To Wait what how did you live? I thought you committed suicide along with the others in Manchuria? And yes all the Japanese in Manchuria committed suicide even the children.
Um, what?
Ryan To In WW2 the Soviets invaded Manchuria during the late year of WW2. It is also when Japan lost their stepping stone and eventually crumbled and every Japanese citizen in it have commited suicide
I think you have me mistaken for someone else's comment.
Ryan To I dunno your profile seems shady.
Thanks! Been waiting forever to see something on Japanese tanks!
I really like these types of videos boi, keep it up

Nice job. Really like the video. I love building Japanese armor and this will be my go to source.
Meme tank! Meme Tan- oh wait he's serious.
Congrats on getting the Chieftain to do your intro!
Here in my garage, got this new type 97. Fun to drive around southeast asia. But do you know what i like more than this type 97? knowledge! so head over to skillshare 2 git sum!!11!1!!!
this tank is too tight I couldn't imagine it. great video by the way :)
OH MY GOD! The absolute MAD LAD got tank Jesus to actually do a collab!!!! Im so jealous!!!! Great video as always
I have to say I love what the Japanese did for ready ammo storage in this tank. Rounds are packed in through a door in the back of the turret, then pulled out the other end through that box to load during combat.
I think it'd be interesting to do a video on what kind of requirements someone would have to meet in order to operate a tank.
Dude! Do more videos! Excellent!
But that hatch at the back could be a hatch to lift out the gun? So it's maybe for maintenance.
In thinking so too now that a few people have mentioned it. I wasn't aware this was a feature for rear hatches on tanks of this era
Great vid!!
Great video
Favorite collab ever.
Good stuff mate
This tank is so cute
Try being the gunner or loader
Miss me with that spooning shit.
No idea why they decided to put 3 people in the turret when it can barely fit 2.
Hmm all I see is a burning wreck.
@@americana_incarnate1717 at least not as bad as an early ronson
Silvia Christandl
Don’t make me laugh. The M4A1 could take on anything in 1942 , and was quite decent in 1944 considering that most of the german forces were StuGs and Panzer IVs. The term “ronson” was assigned to it after the war, as the company never had a catchphrase until many years after the war, and the soldier used “zippo” lighters anyway. It also was one of the safest tanks to be in during the war, only losing 0.6 men per destroyed tank.
And you say the Chi-Ha was better? The Chi-Ha would shoot shells at it, then have them all bounce as if it’s fighting a tiger. While I do have some respect for Japanese equipment and even tanks, this is completely absurd.
I was not expecting this collaboration
I knew this channel would blow up back when you had like 10k subs
Kudos to Cheiften for chipping in. Nice vid, hope we see more Wannabe Hatches
i enjoy the vid cheers mate.

hey! Shinji, Get in the Chi-Ha!
oh, and may i humbly request Czech tank video?
You remind me of Tier Zoo in your commentaries while not on camera."Featuring 'The Chieftain' " in the title would definitely give you a lot of hits :)
great video
Finally, another episode of my favourite anime
Very cool you got the Chieftain to colaborate on this one. I have to agree with you about how the japanese tanks are often overlooked and we could use some more information on them. On the other side however I would like to see more information on how lesser known tanks that served in the pacific theatre fared against the Japanese onslaught. Tanks like the M3 Lee/Grant, Matilda, M3 Stuart, M2 medium tank, and the M2A4 light tank. One of my books says the M3 Lee/Grant did fairly well against the japanese but doesnt say why. My guess having all those guns on board would come in handy against a Banzi charge.
Getting to do a colab with the Chief himself, total fanboi moment :3
Dammit I went there a while ago after your Ha Go video now I really wanna go back!
Holy fuck, you're collaborating with The Chieftain, a nice significant emotional event.
The back/front/side/commander's position is DOMINATED
