- Baltimore and Ohio Railroad - Last years of steam. The end of steam on the B&O came in the late 1950s. In 1957, the B&O announced that it was going to retire its fleet of steam locomotives and replace them with diesel-electric locomotives. This video in memory of a railroad that forever will be remembered as a survivor and putting customer service above all else.

would wee see the B&O have steam Excursions sometime .
Celebrating the 150 year anniversary of the B&O, Chessie System ran a steam excursion program around its entire system in 1977 and 1978. So a long time ago.. maybe someone else knows about later events or something coming up? B&O Museum??
Beautiful video 🎥
❤🤩❤️
B&O railroad is my second choice but my favorite is PENN CENTRAL
Penn Central - a short life yes, but with a long fine history in the companies forming it..
I just ❤ Trains 🚆
So do I!
I Can't See Why They Can't Bring Back A Couple Steam Lines Back. 😊
I second that!
In essence, they have. The Big Boy and the 1309 for two examples. Now if by lines you mean actual railroad companies using steam for actual revenue operations, forget about it! No remaining infrastructure and in any event they would never get past the environmental activists. That ship sailed in the 1950’s.
Some great shots but the voice and pronunciation of the narrator was a real distraction!
