Man the unknown regions is becoming more and more fascinating to me every day and I find it one of the most interesting and unexplored parts of Star Wars and I can’t get enough of it and also great video stupendous keep up the great work
Blech.... no words... ugh... shudders. Sometimes, just having a vivid imagination is utterly terrifying! I can see this as real, as just waiting for us all.
Unknown Regions is the Mordor to the Star Wars Galaxy. The Mnngal Mnngal, The Chiss Ascendancy/ Imperial Remnant, Sorcerers or Rhand, Yuzhan Vong, Starweirds, Nihil Marauder’s hidden Fortress, Endalaan, Iokath, Illum, and Rakata Prime.
Mnggal-Mnggal is a favorite of mine: I’ve been working on a concept wherein the ancient evil would be encountered, and took inspiration from a number of sources.
In my SW fanfiction I used mnggal-mnggal as a pseudo-antagonist against one of my characters during their early years before they grow into the main antagonist of the latter novel. The disturbing aspect of the short story i felt, is that my character is pretty powerful and in tune with the force at this time (nearing Anakin ROTS level), but just this mere weakened essence of mnggal-mgnnal is enough to challenge him. Mind you in this story, it's not so clear that the essence is exactly mnggal-mnggal, so much that the character senses there's something more to this force-imbued object that was mentally manipulating him(put him basically in a force-matrix/genjutsu for 5 years in his mind, but 5 weeks in real-time). What's I thought felt scary about this is that the object was just laying dormant on that desolate planet for an unknown amount of time, waiting for some another source of power to feed on. Thankfully due to plot armor my character made it out and destroyed that thing :) anyhow, great video Stupendous Wave, yet again another banger in the cosmic horror realm of Star War Legends deep-space lore :)
So, in the latest Thrawn novels, he is always of course hinting at those terrible things out there he needs to protect the Ascendency from by having a strong organised force to combat it in the known regions. We still don’t know what it is, but I guess it isn’t this as they already know about it? Zahn never refers to this, I guess it’s in comic, but it just raises more questions. What could be worse than this??
And here I was thinking of using Abeloth as an overarching BBEG in my Star Wars TTRPG. This would be a much cooler BBEG if I can figure out how to work it in. Maybe make it like The Flesh that Hates SCP as a start or something... Very creepy bio though!
@@tigertank06 I mean I think it depends on your definition/view on what is evil/worse. Abeloth, to my understanding, is technically a being of malevolent intent and actively seeks to cause as much harm as possible to the rest of the galaxy. This Mnggal Mnggal sounds more like a force of nature similar to the Gravemind/Brethren Moons where they aren't inherently evil, they are only following their nature to incorporate as much bio mass into itself and spread across the galaxy. It just happens to be that the means the Mnggal goes about doing this is quite abhorrent. I could be/am most likely wrong though as I dont know everything about either entities though, thats just my view on the two.
This reminds of that one episode of the Next Generation where Troi crashes on a unexplored planet, the others have to get past what is basically a puddle of pure, sentient evil.

Not entirely sure why the celestials couldn't exterminatus the place though. You'd think they could just deorbit the planet and let the sun deal with it.
I wish you guys would do a summary of the legends events between empire strikes back and return of the Jedi. I think they’re many fans out there like myself that don’t read comics and don’t understand why Luke is so defeated and then so confident in the beginning of return of the Jedi; all with no master to complete his training
Mnggal-Mnggal is one of those galactic horrors that fits in the vein of HP Lovecraft like the Flood from Halo etc, I like it. I also don't think Mnggal-Mngall is evil. It just is. We're probably pretty evil in the eyes of ants, whose colonies we destroy without even thinking about it when constructing buildings or cutting down trees etc.
One hell of an Elseworld story would be one where Admiral Thrawn joined the Empire and was in FAVOR of the Death Star. Due to its capacity to destroy an entire planet in one shot, it might actually be able to deal a serious near-fatal blow to Mnggal-Mnggal.
This is so close to being the flood from halo and it Would be cool to see this brought up again in new Star Wars stories. I’m sure they have stuff like this in Star Trek and 40k as well. It’s Interesting how every sci fi universe has some kind of infectious being bent on destroying life. Almost like it’s humanity’s greatest fear.
the Ing and the X-parasite from Metroid, my advice, create a predatory but mortal parasitic being that is designed specifically to hunt mnggal-mnggal. one which the young stage look like a certain hovering jellyfish with teeth, absorbing the very energy which keeps Mnggal-Mnggal alive. Once that parasite is gone, the artificially created one can remain on its planet. just in case.
That requires a species with the scientific capabilities of the Chozo. My suggestion is to abandon life entirely and create some kind of synthetic army to destroy it. Maybe make them out of some kind of liquid metal so that they can do a better job than a droid.
11:22 No, I would be worried that a Death Star or Starkiller Base would just spread it around the system and possibly onto the DS or spotter ships. probably better to use a few interdicters to slowly pull the planet into a decaying orbit around it's Star.
Would be funny if the explosion spreads the thing even more to all directions infecting nearby planets, moons, stars, asteroids, etc or even the death star it self xD.
This is a great story.. perfect for Halloween!! I wish that they made Star Wars movies like this rather than what we got for the other 3 ( you know what I mean).
The Deathstar blowing up the planet might just slowly spread frozen droplets throughout space. They could get stuck to ships and be spread through hyperspace to other planets. It's probably better to just leave well enough alone and avoid the solar system the creature resides in.
problem is the creature is not content with being on it's own little planet and is trying to spread throughout the galaxy. Honestly, give it a few thousand years and it probably will consume most of the galaxy if left unchecked.
I'm going to admit confusion. So, WE, as external, well-informed observers, get to know these details of Mnggal-Mnggal, but how well known is it in verse? It's often called the Unknown Regions for a reason, and even "regular" beings that live out there, like the Chiss, are extremely secretive; look hiw long it took for people, and us, to even find out what Thrawn's race was called? If the Empire knew about it, I'm a little surprised the Emperor didn't try to weaponize it, but if the New Republic did, and they eventually possessed ships on a similar footing to Star Destroyers, how close do you need to get to bombard a world from orbit? Decommissioning a ship? Rig it with explosives, ala the Lusankya, and droid-guide it in? Can Mnggal-Mnggal even affect droids? Where I'm going with this us, I guess I can see various peoples not wanting to emulate the Empire, and wholesale destroy a planet; Nam Chorios is the source of the Death Seed Plague, and it hasn't been obliterated, but if I DID visit the Droch homeworld, I'd find orbital defense batteries, with some of the biggest guns in space; even the Empire didn't want that spreading, so why hasn't the MM world been blasted, or even just forcefully quarantined? If important people know about it, why do they do nothing? Why hasn't some crime lord made it their own Great Pit of Karkoon, to be violently rid of troubles? Why hasn't some droid on the run gone into hiding there? Why hasn't the world been wrecked...more do than Mnggal-Mnggal has already done, and can it separately Infect other worlds to such a degree, or would bits of it, so separated from the mass, die in those other worlds, like it's Zombies do?
Based on Mnggal-Mnggal's appearance as described, I suspect that it may be a nanite-based hivemind. Which would make sense if it is indeed a creation of the celestials and not an extradimensional being as speculated.
What if it's both? An extra-dimensional being or consciousness summoned by the celestials, be it intentionally or by accident, and then bound to a physical form of Force-based techno-goop. That's a wild thought.
This reminds me of the Halo Gravemind. Thankfully this extra dimensional horror is far less virulent. I think a good extermantus planet killing weapon from Warhammer 40k is needed here.
Mnggal-Mnggal: I cannot be stopped. Grievous: Good luck. I'm behind a million Super Battle Droids with flamethrowers. Commander Cody: Good luck. I'm behind a million Blaze Troopers with flamethrowers. Palpatine: That's adorable for someone in range of the Death Star.
So what I’m hearing is that if someone were to teleport an isolated super-star into it, it would suffer a death so agonizing that it would surpass the force wound on Malachor 5. If I could, I would gladly hear it suffer under the heat of a star for fun. Me like when things go on fire. It make me happy :).
My greatest question, does this monster have access to the force or does it wield some alternate form of strength? How would a force wielder fight against it? Truly a mysterious and powerful creature.
I think Mgnall Mgnall was created as fluid of reincarnation. Obviously it went wrong and instead of the celestials being reborn they were absorbed into the hive mind. Would have been great if this is what the 3rd series of movies was about. Like it’s just Mgnall Mgnall at the center of all the plot. Like imagine Rey and Kylo fighting exactly as they are against Snokes guards and in the background we see a blurred out shape of black ooze take form where the decapitated body of Snoke was, just waiting for them to finish their fight lol…. “You think you are special? Chosen? I have consumed all those chosen before you by the “force” and I’ll destroy you as well!” It spits out 30 lightsabers of different eras “choose your weapon, Jedi and Sith , or add yours to my collection, fight together or stand alone, it matters not for I am the end and the death of all things of this galaxy.” Operation Cinder and the death star WAS to prune and destroy worlds corrupted by the Mgnall Mgnall. Like rebel wins were actually empire retreats knowing Mgnall Mgnall was there.. You could even do its origin story for Red Harvest as the prequel… makes total sense as this monster is a manipulation of the anti force. So it can pretty much gas up both sides of the force to its benefit/ negate all their advantages… all of it was just to get the galaxy ripe for the taking and only a “grey Jedi” has the power to defeat it. A balance of the force. Kylo and Rey. Kylo sacrificing himself to become the embodiment of the Dark and Rey consumed by light to be its avatar on some ritual on Mortis in some epic battle… it’s the real reason the force broke itself in two in the first place, to be better prepared against Mgnall Mgnall, the life eater
"Sir, we are approaching a world with zero sign of life on it, and dead star ships orbiting around it." *After a Death stare and a brief moment of silence* "Hurl it into the sun."
If this thing is more dangerous than Abaloth, how come she was the one locked behind a ring of black holes? You'd think that if this thing, and the planet it called home was so dangerous, the smartest thing to do would be to try and create an artificial (or even real) black hole close enough to the planet to destroy it and pull it in.
Current all conspiracies have been conspira/truths unfortunately, the world is stranger than sci-fi that's certain, especially when one has hundreds of experiences, that many shows and movies, tuned into this world, galaxy and realities.
I can only imagine if the Death Star shot at the creature, and blew it up, it'd cause even more chaos than it already has over its lifetime in the galaxy. If it's so resilient, I bet fragments of it would survive on chunks of the planet it infested, then spreading across the galaxy, crashing into planets, without life, and with life. Planets that would be valuable for resources, or scouting outposts. I doubt destroying the planet it's on, or that it is, would very wise
I love the horror elements of Star Wars, it's such a perfect combination that sets it apart from other sci-fi horror
Its because unlike Alien,Dead Space Star Wars is for the family not just adults so horror in it is a bigger deal.
honestly that would make for better content if they wanted to make more movies or series shows

Yeah. I’ll stick with symbiotes taking over my body. Mainly Venom, Scream, Lasher, Agony, and Poison
Sounds like the King in Black, Star Wars version.
This was my thought as well..or lovecraftian
Can it wait until this gets a full book series spanning dozens of books
Planescape cross-over: It came from the Grey Waste...a creation of the Baernoloths! Whether it got away from them or they released it is unknown.
7:42 fascinating 🧐
Are there any notable figures in Star Wars that have encountered this entity?
Also, atomizing this entity seems like the way to go.
Could you do a video on all known lore/a deep dive on the celestials in Star Wars?
Noll Noll makes me think of a bad splice of zombies, the symbiote from Spider-Man and Venom, and that thing from The Raft in the Creepshow 2 movie!
My greatest question, does this monster have access to the force or does it wield some alternate form of strength? How would a force wielder fight against it?
Truly a mysterious and powerful creature.
The Death Star would be the perfect weapon against that planet.
The Celestials aren't Force sensitives, they are aspects of the Force
Maybe Palpatine had a reason for those superweapons? That abomination is reason 1. The 2nd would be the Vong.
So it’s basically John Carpenter’s The Thing 😂 💀
Id be team death star if it was promoted to blow that world up
I wonder how this creature feels about droids and other artificial life in SW.
Interesting invention!
Palpatine’s space gun woulda been the best weapon against such a planet
I think Mgnall Mgnall was created as fluid of reincarnation. Obviously it went wrong and instead of the celestials being reborn they were absorbed into the hive mind. Would have been great if this is what the 3rd series of movies was about. Like it’s just Mgnall Mgnall at the center of all the plot. Like imagine Rey and Kylo fighting exactly as they are against Snokes guards and in the background we see a blurred out shape of black ooze take form where the decapitated body of Snoke was, just waiting for them to finish their fight lol…. “You think you are special? Chosen? I have consumed all those chosen before you by the “force” and I’ll destroy you as well!” It spits out 30 lightsabers of different eras “choose your weapon, Jedi and Sith , or add yours to my collection, fight together or stand alone, it matters not for I am the end and the death of all things of this galaxy.”
Operation Cinder and the death star WAS to prune and destroy worlds corrupted by the Mgnall Mgnall.
"Sir, we are approaching a world with zero sign of life on it, and dead star ships orbiting around it."
*After a Death stare and a brief moment of silence* "Hurl it into the sun."
Just realized there's also enough messed up stuff in Star Wars to start the apocalypse if anything went wrong.
That's is the first time anyone said the death star had cleansing power
This Thing Reminds me of the Flood and its Self-proclaimed "Gravemind."
Sounds like Mug Phow needs a visit by the Death Star.
space zombies 🤖🤖🤖
Current all conspiracies have been conspira/truths unfortunately, the world is stranger than sci-fi that's certain, especially when one has hundreds of experiences, that many shows and movies, tuned into this world, galaxy and realities.
You think something like actually exist!!!?😬😱
we need a star wars movie about Mnggal-Mnggal.
I think I speak for all of us here that this would be the one case where destroying planets infected by this parasite wouldn’t be a waste of resources
Here’s the scariest part of Mnggal-Mnggal, he is Abeloth’s brother and the most clever of Tilotny’s children
Carnage is the evilest symbiote. No. Knull is the evilest.
The entity.
