    Great video, thanks for the tip! Worked great in my RHD e30.....lots of clearance between the booster and the intake manifold.

    Had an E90 booster in the garage for 3 years waiting for me to do this mod! Thanks for the video.

    I used an E83 X3 booster. All the holes for the hard brake lines are on the correct side. You still need the adapters for the brake lines like the above list. You will need a 2002 reservoir if you plan to use an M50 throttle body. If you are using an m52, you're all good with the stock E83 booster. I got the booster from a junkyard for 30$ and the fittings from autozone for around the price listed above.

    • @chadp9133
      @chadp9133 3 роки тому

      How did you get the E83 booster to fit? Did you have to modify the firewall? I bought and X3 booster/master and it doesn't have the same bolt pattern as my stock E30.

    • @WLguitarist
      @WLguitarist 3 роки тому

      @@chadp9133 You will have to take off that plate with the 2 long boltscrew that is suppose to be bolted into the firewall. Then you will be left with 2 screws that would fit into your existing screw holes (Yes, only 2 bolts will be utilize). The shaft will have to be shaved/narrowed down to the right size so you can reuse your E30 connector, I used an angle grinder. You will have to use your stock E30 booster and measure how much to take off the shaft of the new booster and where the E30 connector will seat so that it matches with the brake pedal travel. Lastly, you will have to rethread the shaft to appropriate threading. Other than that, it's pretty simple and it works really well. I've been using this setup for 2 E30s already and I love it. I honestly feel like the brake system feels a lot better, a bit more modern feel.

      @@craigvalentine1547 I am not sure about other peoples setup but for my setup it feels better. I don't have ABS, so I am unsure how this booster will do with cars that have ABS.

    Great video, just got one to put into my e30 320is with the stock engine. How is the breaking effort now after the upgrade, is it easier to stop the car? How is the vacuum hose setup, just connecting it to the existing no-return valve?

    Wouldn’t it be possible to use a bolt and nut and washers as spacers to connect the e90 brake booster to the pedal assembly?

    • @unixnerd23
      @unixnerd23 3 роки тому

      That was my first thought. The clevis pin lets it all move freely, a nut and bolt would put tension on the pivot unless you used a bolt with two nuts tightened against each other (and use nylocks or thread lock). It's also more compact in a tight space.
