First 23 days - can I paint 30 faces in 30 days?

- Day 23 or 30 and still going strong! I'm taking part in (and teaching on for the first time) the Sktchy 30 Faces 30 Days challenge in April 2024. Have a flick through the portraits so far. Some I was really pleased with and some...not so much. But you learn so much from each.
Let me know which is your favourite and whether you would like to see a demonstration of any of the techniques too.
It is a big time commitment to do this challenge, so on quite a few days I have just had to take massive short cuts. I am in awe of the brilliant work done by so many of the students and the talent of the other tutors.

So many beautiful pages. It's amazing what can be done with watercolour. I really like the first portraits with different coloured backgrounds- it's quite fun to see the effect of just another colour. I especially like no 3 - background really changes the whole painting

There are loads of new portrait painters doing the challenge and they are learning so much! maybe do one a week, not one a day?

I saw each of these on FB when you posted them as you did them, but this was fun to watch you flip through and explain a bit more of how/why you did what you did in each painting. As always, inspiring!

I think they are all great but thank you so much for showing us the ones you aren't so happy with and explaining why. Faces are incredibly difficult, especially if the source picture is there as well.

Bravo even before you finish! I had so many favorites that I simply couldn’t choose without looking again and again, which I didn’t have time to do. But I do remember that I especially loved the ones you did for your tutorials. But also many of your others. Well done you for hanging in and making it worth your (and our) while.

I have really tried to copy the other artists techniques on some days and it’s hard to do
It is great to see all your paintings as a flip through. It is really hard to paint each day one watercolor portrait. I am still behind. But now I can choose which one I want to paint this day. I already started with the drawing yesterday so today I didn't paint your "rainbow boy". But he will be a lot of fun I think.
I felt we needed a few light hearted ones!
I did this a couple of years ago ... really great experience .. Wanted to join again but work got in the way ... Good work Liz

Beautiful- I am about to embark on my first portrait. Trying to complete 30 in 30 days sounds like a good challenge. Practice makes perfect ( or better anyways- lol)
ye, you learn a lot. check out Sktchy. You get lifetime access and there are previous challenges available
Good on you for keeping with it! I stopped trying to keep up after day 7. I enjoyed the lessons (especially yours!), but the pace was too stressful. I plan to do all 30, but maybe only one a week

Hullo Liz, thanks for sharing your experience with this challenge! I have struggled with challenges before I have only finished InkTober once! Within the days allotted that is. You following other artists styles or technique is quite brave. I am looking forward to seeing how you finish! Hang in there and we will be watching!

Love your flip through and your lessons. Great to see you as one of the teachers also tackling it. I'm about 10 days behind but that's ok. I'm doing this for fun after all!
