Remember, Mike Johnson is a two-faced liar
And a traitor.
@@terjeoseberg990 emphasis on traitor
@@schloops8473 The MAGA wing of the party have been fully bought out by Putin. These people openly push Kremlin narratives and lies, witness Marjorie Taylor Green's recent public comment about not wishing to provide arms to the ''fascists'' in Ukraine. This means that they are shamelessly promoting the interests of a hostile foreign state against the interests of the USA and its allies. The word 'traitor' is an understatement.
The west's lack of enthusiasm to help Ukraine is making me sick. Getting on for literally. As a Brit living in Finland, whose Czech father had to leave his homeland after WWII when Russia rolled in I cannot fathom why this is and I start to seriously worry about the future if people don't step up to the threat.
There's a balance because states have to rearm and ones like UK didn't maintain the ammunition stockpiles as it was deemed that major land war was a thing of the past.
Thank you = absolute agree !!!
@@RobBCactive I can well see that many states have a lot of catching up to w.r.t. rearming. But really, how is it possible that has not been a priority for two years now? Especially after having watch Russia roll into Donbas and Crimea already in 2014? And how did they become convinced such a war would not happen again? Everyone in all the states of East Europe has been wary of Russia,. There is a reason Poland is armed to the teeth. There is a reason Finland has built enough underground bunker space to keep the entire population safe for a long time, indeed all new apartment building have to have bomb shelters in their basements. That is not a left over from the nuclear threats of the Cold War, that is with awareness that what is happening in Ukraine today could be happening here. There is a reason Finland and others still have mandatory military service. How on Earth did more western states fall for the charms of Putin? How on Earth did they not get the memo in 2014? It's mind boggling.,
I really could not agree with you more. I am physically disgusted and so, so angry.
@@StatetrooperBillyBill Oh! I’m so pleased that you,too are active on Ukraine’s behalf. Please share with us all the wonderful things that you do to help Ukraine! 👍👏👏👏
If the U S. Wants Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil wells, it should send the air defense and weapons it promised Ukraine.
Yea.. that'll get America on board. 😂😂
The people asking them to stop are the ones working to get them aid. $5 a gallon gas will make supporting Ukraine politcal suicide. It's not like they're worried about the extra cost for themselves at the pump, it's the damage to Ukrainian cause they're trying to avoid by asking them to stop attacking russian oil
The US didn't tell Ukraine to stop hitting oil refineries, that is russian propaganda. The US refines a lot of oil products and this would make the US international share bigger, ie more profits! Although I as a US citizen would like the Republikkkon party to stop being Putin's whores and allow the aid through!!!
@@ruks345, 72% of Americans support Ukraine. It’s only a few MAGA Republicans in Congress who are blocking aid. This is resulting in decreasing support for Trump and MAGA Republicans.

No appeasement to Russia!!!
I have just watched Joe Blogs video on Russia's dependency on aircraft for transport around such a large country - so the policy of attacking the oil refineries would also eventually curtail the production of aviation fuel essential for all these planes and bring the country to a halt.
🤣🤣🤣
Jonathan, I appreciate all your effort and solidarity with Ukraine. Thanks for all.

@@SiliconCurtain How does Poland shutting off its border with the Ukraine effect things?
If we had given Ukraine what it needed on time, this war would have been much less costly. To me that is not hard to understand but politicians don’t seem to be able to plan ahead or to calculate costs….shameful!
Exactly... Also, pro Kremlin reactionary influence in democratically elected governments is playing a major role in slow walking the funds and general obstruction.
Sad thing is, it’s all politics and money, but mainly politics.
The longer it lasts, the more it costs in lifes and money - on both sides. We have a wimp of a chancellor - Scholz. 😭
Weird.... my comment appears to be deleted. Was it because I mentioned the obvious truth that there are many pro Putin politicians who are becoming more and more vociferous in democratically elected governments, and are doing everything they can to slow walk and obstruct Ukrainian aid? 🤔
Why delete such a comment?
@@taymot2131 yes, let’s not forget the cost in lives, but our politicians don’t seem to take this into consideration. Double shameful!
My friend sent me a meme of 4 peopke in a canoe.

That is so infuriatingly the EU.
You voted for your leadership! Live with it!😁
Politicians and CEOs don't care about the loss of human life, as long as it's not them. Disgusting.
I totally agree Ukraine is doing the right thing and should not listen to the U.S and Americans should be a lot more helpful!
America putting theirt gas prices at the pumps ahead of Ukrainian lives disgusts me to the pit of my stomach. I guess we shouldn't be surprised though, they are terrible allies.
How about the EU does more? It has only delivered 30,000 of the 1 million shells it promised to deliver in 2023.
The US didn't tell Ukraine to stop hitting oil refineries, that is russian propaganda.
@user-xh2yg4uv9q
First, you're a zero off. EU managed to get 300'000 shells last year, and the unfeasable target is now set to be met by building and refurbrishing factories by joint venture in Czechia and Rheinmetall plants. Some faction is on it on the highest levels, i know certain countries have sent additional artilerry individually, but all that is partly classified obscure information. As Baltic states have virtually no heavy industry, they have a different plan. Estonia has actually sourced additional ~1M 155mm shells on open market recently, Latvia has made public all sanctioned Russian assets and asks rest of the Europe to do the dame and release them directly for funding Ukraine. Apparently there are plausible $28B which could be released out of total $200B estimated value.
These are just some examples, further development of which we have to follow up. And don't worry, we don't rely on US help anymore here, as it is still not clear will it follow the Russia's way or not in coming years. It has been jeopardised by methods outside the scope of this debate. EU on the other hand is certainly lethargic in real response and lacking a strategy, hindered by the fact there are ~50 countries apart from US involved counting themselves as Ukraine's allies. But the will of vast majority to stop this attack on everything we stand for and our nrighbours are not compromised here.
Somehow it doesn't work 1:1, considering how disarmed we are compared to US and how long it takes for it to change, given the bureaucracy. The strayegy of EU mostly giving cash and other aid, with US providing most of weapons has failed, not trough fault of Europe after the war started. There are too many factors leading to this situation to mention here. And of course, the sleepy inertia of institutions will cost us, but i assure you there is much more going on behind the scenes you don't (and shouldn't) see on MSM. In the end it will be Europe directly fighting Russia on the ground if we can't find a way to stop it.
@@user-xh2yg4uv9q, The EU appears to be waking up. They can and will do more, but it takes time. They should have already done more starting 2 years ago.
Thanks.

2:32 Thank you, Jonathan. I've been worried about the negative talk on Ukraine's lack of progress against Russia. Keeping hope alive with reliable facts is important since it's human psychology to accept the preponderence of talk with or without facts. Ukraine is certainly inventive and clever. I so hope the West realizes what it's giving up in not funding Ukraine sufficiently.
Russia is advancing, but they’re experiencing unsustainable losses doing so. Russia is showing the world how to lose a war.
Terjeoseberg, thank you for the information.
Ukraine has all the right to defend itself in whichever way it possibly can especially with no help from Eurpoe or the west.
Absolutely!
Thank you, Jonathan, for calling the U.S. requests "disgusting". If they were coming from a country like Lithuania that's giving Ukraine everything but its trousers, I'd sort of understand. But coming from the country that keeps saying "maybe this time we'll manage something... or perhaps the next time..." ergh.
Don't feel to superior. The EU promised 1 million shells to be delivered in 2023 but only managed 30,000. So how about you mention that the EU is also dithering?
I don’t believe that the US has told or asked Ukraine to stop targeting Russian oil refineries. Oil refineries do NOT produce crude oil. They REFINE crude oil.

I thought perhaps the current government in my country (United States) could fall no lower in their treatment of Ukraine, but they have: to have the gall to tell Ukraine to stop hitting Russian oil facilities. First we provide mostly only our old weapons that have either been phased out or are soon set to be. The few better weapons have limitations (Ukraine cannot strike targets in Russia). Then we renege on our promise to provide additional funds and weapons costing Ukraine thousands of lives and loss of additional land; however, the current government is obviously more concerned about oil prices and staying in power than they are about human lives. They also do not care about what a Russian victory will really cost the United States in American lives and money. They do not care about the future because they will no longer be in office. Slava Ukraine!
@jackcowan5001 They likely wouldn't be able to operate the more complex weapon systems as it takes years of training, and also support and maintenance. The failure of the counter-offensive was a prime example, tanks alone didn't make a dent as they didn't have support from other branches, esp. air force. There were reports that Ukrainian soldiers use google translate to read the manuals of weapons in the field and figure out how TF they work. Nobody questions the extreme valor of the Ukrainian soldiers but it's just not enough. No other military in the world achieved the level of integration the US armed forces have. It's a bummer, I'm in EU and we suck rectum.
Your country has lost much prestige and regard, as it can no longer be viewed as a reliable ally.
@@metternich05 Apparently, Denmark is dividing the sale of well-used F-16s between Argentina and Ukraine. The training of pilots is ongoing - Ukraine will need a barrier cap to efficiently defend against the drone threat. Even with the hampered logistics , the Ukraine Air Force people are doing an outstanding job.
Just wait till you see how they eventually turn their back on Israel.
The US Administration hasn't told Ukraine to stop hitting the refineries. They've told them they "don't support it". Yes, it is weasel. But it's not a stop.

Screw the oil companies!
It's almost as if all those countless millions of people around the world who demonstrate, use activism and push their governments to stop taking money from and be lobbied by oil companies begin the process of weaning our economies off oil were right all along..!
You articulate so well my feelings exactly. I’m not convinced Biden wants Ukraine to win, he was dragging his feet even before the MAGA GOP interfered. I’m not convinced USA would come to our assistance (UK) or any other NATO country.
It was the Democrats who hyper-polarized the House (208 Democrats and only 8 fringe Republicans voted to oust leader McCarthy creating a situation where the next leader would need the support of most of the fringe 8). It was the Biden administration that led the Ukrainians and other Eastern European nations to not use the lend-lease bill the US Congress overwhelmingly passed in 2022. The opportunity expired at the end of September 2023. It was the Democrats who linked the issues of border security and Ukraine aid after hyper-polarizing the House, knowing full well they wouldn't do anything to appease reasonable Republican demands to secure the border and deter the flow of illegals. These moves are the hand of Nancy Pelosi. She is a master of manipulation, and the Republicans reliably fall for it. Oddly, Trump was able to flip that on her often. As crazy as he is, he does have some skills. I think there is no doubt we would support the UK and NATO though.
On the oil prices, any time anything happens in the middle East; prices go up.
Thanks, Jonathan. Corporations dictate policy and laws in the US and probably the world. The only power they answer to is profit. The power they use is money. Donnie is under pressure and needs money, so he'll be easily manipulated. It's very depressing when lives are lost.

How unbelievably bad are we?
Oil prices have increased recently because OPEC has cut production, and there are currently events in the Middle East that effect oil prices. It has nothing to do with Russia’s oil refineries. Oil refineries do not produce oil.
You do a good job of explaining the real reasons for the increase in oil prices starting at 14:11 in this video.
If Russia interferes with oil exports from Kazakhstan, wouldn’t that turn Kazakhstan against Russia? Russia might use those pipelines as leverage to force Kazakhstan to sell them refined oil products. How many oil refineries does Kazakhstan have?

It’s so annoying that the west and US now say ‘restraint’ to Israel exactly as they’ve done with Ukraine
After 2 years of seeing Ukraine not being helped, perhaps it's time to take your fingers out of your ears about the UN and start seriously discussing how to end the gang wars anarchy.
Back under your rock, troll.
In another discussion about the rus economy the point was made that rus was running out of manpower for both industry and military. A Ukrainian in the discussion gleefully said that Ukraine was just trying to help russia with their labor problem by shutting down some refineries to release manpower for other uses.
An option for Ukraine to consider as a reply to US requests to not attack rus oil is simple,
"What have you done for me lately, say in the last 7 months? What will you do for me before the new year??"
Actually Ukraine has hit a few oil depots at ports, which has been noted as affecting exports.
Ukraine should also be attacking the shadow fleet in the black sea. I thought that ports would not allow ships/tankers in without insurance, even if only self insurance by someone like russia.
There is not only a "black fleet" for oil, there is also one for fishing, pillaging fish stocks all over the world. Long range international fleets, sometimes working with black fishing boats are what caused the african piracy problem, like Somalia. They came in over fished the stocks, "strip mined" the sea bottom causing the local fishers to have nothing to catch. They got no international help, so they had the choice to starve or go pirate ...
Iran may have used russian tactics, but with a 2 week warning, it seems to me that they didn't really want to succeed. Instead, they had to be seen acting after their consulate was bombed, but they didn't want to hit Israel hard enough to provoke an all out war. So they shot a bunch of missiles and drones over very long range allowing Israel time to get most of them. Honor satisfied, they just have to absorb the Israeli reaction.
The flood peak will vary by location, by local weather, will progress down the various rivers. There is no single flood peak date
Thank you for your report on this issue, I see it exactly like this. Ukraine has a right to defend itself and we in the western democracies must help it to win and to be restored and respected.
46:37 I dont know if it has anything to do with Macrons stance recently, but I firmly believe that leading does not only mean that you listen to the people, but also that you lead the people in spite of their fears, convince them of the path you lay out and have the courage and conviction to stand on principle and the moral good. Macron's stance now is firm, clear and morally just, and I think that anyone would fight for the freedoms my grandfather and many others have suffered for to retain or acquire.
I am really worried about lack of news and reports from Ukraine in western media.
Thank you Jonathan. Refineries are not crude E&P facilities! Few countries are buying refined product from russia!
The nexus between US oil interests and Kazachstan's westward pipelines across Ruzzia explains things. Thank you.
No it doesn’t explain anything!

Ukraine needs to get all Russian oil facilities.
The Ukrainians are so clever and innovative
I would like to hear you discuss the question, did Obama also consider Ukraine to be a part of Russia? Is that why he refused to help them in 2014? This has to be examined also, in the future. (While he's still alive!)
I am very worried when Russia seizes production facilities for canned food and mineral water.
Superb intelligence & information with delivery as we've come to know & respect!
First off, Sarah C.M. Paine points out that sanctions hobble countries in a different way than people seem to think. There is a *compound loss of growth* that results from sanctions. They are looking at economic future akin to *North Korea,* even with grey fleets, because the oil they export doesn't go for as much as it could.
I just discovered Sarah Paine last week. Incredible perspective. 👏🏻👍🏻
Russia on war mode. Whole country working 3 shifts churning weaponry out 7 days a week.
If the speaker of the US house stops allowing Trump to control him and the aid bill to Ukraine gets passed, maybe they will consider a reduction in targeting oil.
Trump and the GOP want oil prices to rise so they can use it as political narrative. That said, both parties stink.
re:RFU, & other YT acts against pro-Ukraine channels; This needs to become a legal case. All of us UAtubers need to band together & sue Google.
I cannot believe the White House thesis that bombing refineries will force crude oil prices to rise. If prices really go up, it happens due to these announcements, repeated by anybody who feels the need to say something about this topic. In fact Ukraine until now only bombed refineries. Refineries are no source of crude oil they consume oil to convert it to gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Taking oil consumers out of the market may decrease the price not increse it. Anyway Russia is currently connected to markets not very tightly, so the influence of what happens inside Russia should not influence international markets too much.
I don’t think the White House believes it either.
Lets face it, anything US touches never fairs well
That was great, thank you.
Such interesting items. I was wondering myself if Putin would take the Russian economy back to USSR system before long and it seems events are moving that way with forced nationalisation. Thanks Jonathan for keeping up with the information

How are strikes on oil refineries impacting the price of crude oil?
Any reduction in supply or even perceived supply allows producers to do their best to get prices higher. Capitalism at it’s very best.
They’re not having a perceptible effect on oil prices in the the US.

Very well put.
I think it’s so important to highlight France. The French somehow seems to be the real beacon of freedom how France stood up against Great Britain for the freedom of America and yet again we see Ukraine, struggling to be free and France is the one that stands up for it, and willing to fight for it, that says a lot to the world and Americans need to wake up. I am so disgusted with my politicians and how they have been conducting them selves and only for themselves and their own self interest.
If anything, Ukraine's hitting Russian refineries tends to decrease the price of crude oil. I have to believe that the US administration, including Lloyd Austin, are just managing the escalation, avoiding a Russian-American confrontation, because their comments are otherwise completely wrong. Ukraine should continue this absolutely terrific tactic.

Good title. 😊
The WH has been disappointing in its support, but the price cap has been very successful. For more than a year Russia has had to sell oil at a loss or at best marginal profits while significantly lowering oil prices for most of that time. Oil prices are not rising due to the strikes, but a bit due to news driven trading and mostly due to OPEC strategic efforts to increase oil prices.
RIGHT ON SLAVA UKRAINI!!
Always too little too late, now Ukraine are mobilising it can't be emphasised enough that its imperative they have the necessary support and supplies, thanks SC
Unbelievable and disgusting.
When the chips are down the US is a poor ally as was demonstrated at the start of WWII . When they joined the war , following pearl harbour, their miltary aid came at a price . Britain didn't pay the final installment of lend lease until 2006. Meanwhile 32000 locations were bombed in Britain which didn't finish rebuilding until the 70s and 80s. Needless to say the US finished the war a lot richer than when it entered.
OPEC could easily increase oil production to offset price increases.
Biden could also release oil from US strategic reserves.
The US has failed Ukraine, and they are paying the price for Biden's past dithering.
