I was there for the anniversary live stream where they announced they were cancelling Aranea's, Lunafreya's, and Noctis' DLCs. We expected more info on the four DLC that were planned for that year, as well as more Multiplayer content. What we got was "Happy anniversary to XV! By the way, I, Tabata, am leaving Square-Enix immediately and the DLC for Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis are cancelled. Oh and the only reason Ardyn's wasn't cancelled alongside them is that it's too far along for Square-Enix to feel comfortable scrapping it. Thanks for being fans of this dumpster fire of a project that we managed to put out something for and buh-bye." and the live stream ended. As you can imagine, it was one hell of a gut punch. It's definitely up there in terms of painful live stream announcements I've been a part of. I don't think there were any rumours before the live stream about what was going on behind the scenes that would give people a sense of bracing for impact. It was out of left field. The parts of chat that were there to celebrate were completely lost. However, for a bit of positivity in my post: Darin de Paul was amazing as Ardyn. I'm so glad they kept him on from the movie. Also amusing that while you the player are seeing Ardyn as himself, everyone else in the DLC is seeing the mook he possessed, including Regis, which helps keep the story timeline "stable" by making sure Regis doesn't recognize him come Kingsglaive the movie. All of the DLC we got were clearly done with care even if the team exploded.
Mike skipped the credits from the ignis DLC verse 2... Ardyn was alive after their fight and the end is Noctis going to fight him with ignis having his sight and Ravus alive best ending imo
Ignis' DLC is definitely the standout among the DLCs that we got. After the disappointment that was Episode Prompto, Team Ignis definitely stepped up their game here. I loved how they showed how powerful the King's Ring was like how they showed it in the Kingsglaive movie (although Ignis was very lucky compared to Nyx). I both love and hate Ardyn's DLC. On the one hand, just seeing him zip around Insomnia, hanging out with Ifrit while collecting hats for fun is definitely on brand for him. On the other hand, I wish his motivations and past was more prevalent in the main story, and not just in the DLC. The dude got dealt a very bad hand, and Bahamut definitely did him dirty.
You know, FFXV being this mess is yet somehow my favorite FF, it is just so emotional and the characters make the journey be something really unique compared to others FF.

39:20 is good stuff
It's the same dev team, just without hellish development
