My first Adidas bat review. A 2012 Pellara Elite XT V4

  • Here is my review of this Adidas Pellara Elite XT V4 released around 2012. Kevin Pietersen used this model in different versions at his peak. So here are my thoughts on the bat provided by Joseph H, a local collector here in Adelaide Australia.
    If you can fill in the history of Adidas bats in the video comments I'd be grateful as I do not confess to having much knowledge of the batmakers Adidas used.
    Generally really happy with this video, despite some issues with backdrop lighting and operation. Plasma TV died outside the home, so I ended up buying a TV for the home and moving the LCD outside. Tried it as a backdrop #fail. Badly crooked.
    Thanks to Joseph for being so patient. Doing some cleanup for him as thanks. Top Guy.
    Also many thanks to all the well wishes to the channel. YOU ARE ALL AWESOME!

    I do this as a hobby and do not make any money or get paid to create the videos. So owners of the bats cover the return freight costs of bats sent in and I do not always accept a bat for various reasons and do not run a bat-knocking service as the time it takes to create content is considerable.

      I’m not entirely convinced this model was due the the handle. Other models most likely. I’m betting they shopped around to get the bet price.

    Hi Marc another great video and so good to see you back and I mean that, I’m aware of the health issues however you are looking good so hopefully a full return to good health is close, in regards to Adidas they had a number of companies manufacturing for them back then so very difficult to be 100% but I believe that’s a UK made bat looking at the shoulders and toe but could easily be out of India too.
    Never been a fan of brands who don’t manufacture themselves so I avoid and never recommend as I find the quality differs massively so avoid them, look forward to many more videos from you landing soon I hope in the uk so stay well bud.

    Review quality is still top notch mate, like riding a bike. Hopefully you recover well soon mate. Stickers are crazy lol I'd be pulling 70-80% of them off

      Thanks David. Use a hairdryer, pull across the grain and remove glue with mineral turpentine. Then you’ll be stuck with the outlines of all the stickers due to UV bleaching. So follow that with some aggressive sanding and et voila’ a bat that feels totally different to what you felt when it arrived. 99% of these issues resolved by methodically testing in store who you will run it and stay off internet sales and marketplace lol.

    From the stickers on the handle under the grip, it looks like it might have been made by S.G

    • @CricketBatInfo
      @CricketBatInfo  Рік тому +1

      Ok. That’s a big possibility i did not consider due the the handle’s rounded almost GN like knob

      Yeah id agree, SG use good quality cork inserts in their handles like these ones

    I was wondering whether you'd somehow have this bat's or the Incurza's (Ian Bell of this time's) stickers? I absolutely love the look of the stickers on this bat 🙌

      @@CricketBatInfo definitely positive I enjoy the reviews of older bats as there was more variation in shapes and profiles which I think doesn’t happen as much today, remember 30 odd years ago so many different trains of thought from different batmakers on how to make a bat. They weren’t afraid to try something different, I miss that. Many of the modern bats can be a bit similar. With regards to the bat i do like some of the features but not others.

    From what I can tell (top of the handle & 2.9 sticker) it was made by SG. They did something simular for Kookaburra UK. The only thing throwing me off is that they usually use grey tape on the bottom of the grip. The press is usually on the soft side

    • @CricketBatInfo
      @CricketBatInfo  Рік тому +1

      Yep this sounds more than likely. SG make a great bat in the mid to top ranges. This one feels like something close to a Kooka too

    • @chivan1993
      @chivan1993 Рік тому

      @@CricketBatInfo SG are my favourite Indian brand too! I prefer a softer press I usually use a Keeley made bat

    • @CricketBatInfo
      @CricketBatInfo  Рік тому

      I used a Keeley-made Newbery back ages ago and think the soft feel of a Keeley was a lot to do with the forgiving handles they had. That said it was they only handle that ever broke on me(apart from the GN fusion that actually destroyed its shoulders). Knocked a few since that too. The press itself was medium like a GN. SG/Kookaburra were always softer. Keeley had special hydraulic triple roller press that had three rollers at increasing pressure.

      @chivan1993 Рік тому

      @@CricketBatInfo I think you’re right about the handles! I live in London so I tend to pop down to see them. After a few years of use I feel a lovely whipping in the handle. I’ve not had a handle break on me just yet, but tk has always offered a lifetime warranty on the handle.
      I really like the feel of a Keeley or Salix! Soft and well balanced
