I actually disagree with the Muppet retheming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. I actually think this retheme actually could work and I’m kinda excited for it. Aerosmith has nothing to do with Disney and there have been rumors or allegations about some of the members assaulting people. What I actually think they should do is there is a villains show coming next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, so since they are retheming it to Muppets, have the villains show there for a couple years until villains land opens in Magic Kingdom. Once it opens, take the villains show out and either get rid of it entirely or move it elsewhere and then you can put Muppet Vision 3D in there and keep it permanently. That way we still will keep Muppet Vision 3D but just in a different location. I actually think that would be perfect. That way The Muppets can still have their own little land with two rides.
I suspect Rock n' Roller Coaster will be the last attraction we'll see using real-life celebrities. Their bad behavior keeps coming back to haunt Disney. The characters are a much safer choice.
Finally someone noticed the “Monsters Inc” suspended coaster is being built in the backstage parking lot, and is not replacing anything. Nothing in the area needs to close until the roller coaster begins testing. Meaning, there will not be a capacity issue, for the primary brunt of construction. I am not much of a Muppets fan, aside from Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, but think the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster retheme could be fun. Mainly, because it is the most bonkers idea to come out of imagineering, since the “Monsters Inc” ride at Tokyo Disneyland. Rock ‘n Roller Coaster has been in desperate need of a re-theme, due to everything about it (aside from the track layout) being outdated. As for the Animation Courtyard, while in desperate need of gut job, at least “The Little Mermaid” show is finally returning. Curious to see if part of that show’s delay was due to reconfiguring the theater. As the layout, especially the entrance, would need to change for the rest of the area to eventually become an expansion plot. Whatever franchise does go in there, should be something ambitious and really special.
I love the new Monsters square. To have two Monsters rides (Rollercoster which is so exciting, plus a 3D? show at the theatre as yet not shown) plus the opening up of the space with the tree square is really nice for the feel of the land. I agree with you with the two restaurants, you nailed it I think. I see them doing a very themed cafe'ish thing at the Pizza place too in the spirit of Minions cafe, Roundup Rodeo, Pym Test Kitchen etc with the same heavily themed food
Most of the comments here are saying that they don’t really care if they get rid of the Muppets show, but I really don’t like them getting rid of it, and would only be OK with them replacing that with the monsters Inc. ride only if they move the show over to a new spot
@@TheNobleWay well sorry if I’m being a jerk about anything or whatever but I’m still not really happy about them just outright getting rid of it and not having it somewhere there for people to go and watch i’m fine with them working with what they got and putting it where they know it can work, but I guess I’m just one of those that’s looking at how things were or how things are now with what we got with rose tinted glasses I guess 😢
@thecrazydisneyparksfanatic921 but honestly.. when is the last time you did Muppets 3d? I'm guilty of this myself..I go to Disney once a year and I love the Muppets but I haven't done 3d in ages.. it's not on the top of my list..I do it if I have time to kill while waiting for my next fast pass.. We, the fans of the attraction didn't treat it like it was our favorite... or even top 3... so this is what happens. They look at the numbers and see that less than 10% of the park guest on any given day get on Muppets 3d... so.. of course they're gonna get rid of it. Honestly.. we brought this on ourselves. We didn't treat it like it was a park favorite... so we can't act like it's our favorite now.
The problem with both Muppets and Rivers of America/Tom Sawyer Island is.. Disney watches the numbers. Most of the people outraged saying how much they loved those attractions(Muppets included) haven't been on them in years.. I'm guiltily of this myself. I love Muppets.. and go to Disney World once Year.. but I haven't been on Muppets in years. It always has the lowest wait or a walk on.. no one does Muppets anymore unless you have some time to kill while waiting for your next fast pass. So they look at the numbers and they're like.. no one's doing it anyway..replace it with something that'll bring in crowds . Then they're surprised when we're all upset.. but maybe it's our fault.. If we liked Muppets sooooo much.. we should have appreciated it more. Now. It's too late. It's honestly what we get. It's a lesson learned , Appreciate things, and people while you have them.. cause .. they might not be around forever.
Just a thought, I think that if they do the move of the Muppets over to RNR, there's a theater back there. After they run the villains show that theater could easily be converted to Muppet vision 3d without a lot of remodeling. They could also add a proper courtyard out front of RNR and maybe a gift shop and at minimum a couple of food kiosks. Muppet vision may not be gone forever.
also the muppets replacing rockin roller-coaster is honestly one of the best things disney has announced and from online I'm hearing alot of other people really happy about this news. It is perfect and there are negative things that surround Aerosmith and it's not disney and putting another rock group that is not disney wouldn't make sense this was the best choice.
I am a little surprised they did not give us more Monsters University for the courtyard area. The way it is in the concept art it still looks a lot like Muppets Courtyard. Also, still weird that Monsters is in MK & now HS. Maybe they are planning to close Laugh Floor? Dr. Teeth for Aerosmith is actually a great idea!
Seems like they did pretty much everything in the muppets space to reduce cost with basic retheme, aside from demolishing the building in the center and building the new coaster.
@@TheNobleWay Agreed. A basic re-theme... that's the problem. If you are going to build a land, then give us your best. The ride itself looks great but if I walk into that land & it just looks like repainted Pizza Rizzo's, there's going to be a problem. Come on Disney...
@@TheNobleWay - To be fair, as good as “Monsters Inc” is as a film. It is not nearly as iconic or merchandise worthy as something like “Toy Story”. It is a franchise worthy of a great ride, but not necessarily a full land. So, it is understandable Disney would re-theme a mini-land to fit the suspended coaster.
The coaster looks like it is being built on part of a current parking lot. My guess would be that they leave Muppet Courtyard open until they have the coaster building almost complete. Then they shut down the rest of the area and do the major retheme as the last phase. They are doing the same kind of thing in Dino Land USA. I'm also wondering if they could eventually connect the Star Tours simulators to the Monster's Inc area? It sits right behind Pizza Rizzo. Now that Smuggler's Run exists, Star Tours is not needed and is out of place. Put Mike, Sully, and Boo in the driver's seat. I also hope that they put Muppet Vision 3D in the recently closed Cars Theater and dedicate that entire area to Muppets. And Please - relocate the Miss Piggy fountain back there.
Those are quite likely guesses! Makes sense - I know Star Tours is super cheap to operate and keep replacing the videos but you are right it is definitely out of place! 👍🏼

Yeah it’s just a personal preference - I’ve never been a huge fan of muppets in general so the attachment to that IP is pretty low. I think a lot of other people love it! 👍🏼
Well, I don’t love the removal of Mama Mel roses or Muppet vision 3-D, I understand that this was basically inevitable. The animation, courtyard location just seemed too easy and too good to be true. The execs and their offices back behind there are too valuable to them right now. Personally, I think it will take relocation with nicer newer offices to appease those guys… For them to finally demo the animation building and build something new. I do like the Muppets taking over rock and roller coaster… I think they’re the best fit of all of Disney’s properties. They don’t wanna have to pay a licensing fee to anybody to use for the ride, Disney IP = free.
Yes, we are all devastated and heartbroken that Burbank is destroying Jim Henson's last project. However, the GOOD news is that Burbank is saving the "Star Wars Launch Bay" for now. Yay!! So obviously they valued that location more than Jim Henson's MuppetVision 3D. You see?...every horrible, dark cloud...has a silver lining!
What I find interesting is that they say they are exploring options to try and preserve MuppetVision. I’ve seen a few theories: 1) The Villains Show replacing Lightning McQueen Academy is just temporary until Villains Land opens. Once that ends, MuppetVision is relocated there. It would also be right next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which fits theming. 2) MuppetVision is relocated to Epcot’s Magic Eye Theater. It’s already a 3D theater, so they would just have to slightly modify it to add the various Muppet animatronics. The theater currently just shows Disney and Pixar shows that you can readily watch at home. Replacing it with MuppetVision would certainly increase attendance in that space. 3) They simply add MuppetVision to Disney Plus, and call it a day. I’m not sure how this would work, when the show relies on in-person theatrical elements like Statler and Waldorf on the balcony, Sweetums walking into the audience, and the Swedish Chef shooting at the screen.
Yes for sure - it’s odd to me that they haven’t given more details on how they are planning to preserve it - I would think if they had a decent plan they would have announced it at the same time to reduce fan outrage - or perhaps they didn’t so they could gauge how bad the outrage would be and then decide if they wanted to really go through the effort or not. 👌🏼
Of those two options, the only place I see maybe working is next to Lightning McQueen since there are way too many specific elements to the show. Again, I don't understand why this is their decision when Animation Courtyard is right there.
