Deadliest Roads - Congo: • Deadliest Roads | Cong...
Landlocked and shrouded in historical mystery, Laos is home to dozens of forgotten tribes who reside in its vast rolling mountains and impenetrable jungles. One of the last standing communist countries, we travel along the Ho Chi Minh trail that was used to transport weapons in the Vietnam War. The countryside is still littered with bombs dropped by the Americans and travelling requires vigilant drivers.
We adventure in trucks, on the back of elephants, by car engine-powered speedboat and often on foot. The stakes are high for these courageous drivers, and the pressure is on for a safe passage in ferocious conditions.

Laos 🇱🇦 Landlocked and shrouded in historical mystery, Laos is home to dozens of forgotten tribes who reside in its vast rolling mountains and impenetrable jungles. One of the last communist countries, we travel along the Ho Chi Minh trail - used to transport weapons during the Vietnam War. The countryside is still littered with bombs dropped by the Americans and traveling requires vigilant drivers.

    1. The Capital and largest city is Vientiane
    2. The official language is Lao with Hmong, Khmu, and French also spoken
    3. Laos is a socialist state and the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. At the heart of the Indochinese Peninsula, Laos is bordered by Myanmar and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, and Thailand to the west and southwest.
    4. The government is a unitary Marxist-Leninist one-party socialist republic
    5. The climate is mostly tropical savanna and influenced by the monsoon pattern.

From 1964 to 1973, the U.S. dropped more than two million tons of ordnance on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions-equal to a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24-hours a day, for 9 years - making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita in history.

Who's the narrator please? Is it Tim Wright? I missed his voice in Myanmar. He always changes his voice and intonation when speaking as different people in the video. He doesn't waste words needlessly but give the viewer such a sense of calm, feeling like I'm right there, in the truck or what have you. All the staff need to be highly praised for their bravery and unique talent. I can't get enough of Deadliest Roads! What an eye opener. We are very spoiled and have gotten too soft. Damn I am a security guard in Los Angeles and sometimes I feel I have it bad and struggling. but when I see these documentaries it makes me appreciate my job and my life a bit more. We all go through tough times but we have to remember it can always be worst. someone out there is literally walking miles and miles to get to work or just to make some money for their family. We are blessed here in the states.

This mindset is why the United States infrastructure is crumbling, the government is crumbling, and society is crumbling. We're too complacent. We see awful third world countries and go "Boy we sure have it great!!" Instead of seeing how we can make our country even better.
Yeah, we have it good. But we've gotten too comfortable and it's not going to stay that way forever.

I hope they love and treat those elephants well. I can see how we Americans and Europeans may see this as a hard life but when your whole life revolves around having food and love of a close family there really isn't anything else we really need. I'm jealous to be honest
