Im also gonna add this: was absolutely not expecting the AI stuff in this project. Love the response from you Night Mind on real artists. Truly appreciate it as someone who is in art college. Its so true how in the early stages, we had no idea *how* damaging it really was.
I want to say its a critique on AI, but at the same time….I don’t think it is. Its very conflicting. When is Ben coming back into the picture?
Generative AI as a refusal of personal development is a great point and I hope creators heed it.

Right? Still, it feels very natural. A traumatized guy who either got no or extremely poor therapy, doesn’t have anything resembling a support system, latches onto the idea someone who’s so rich and powerful that nothing could ever hurt them. Yeah, I could definitely see someone like that actually existing and trying to recreate that for themself

Thank you for the explicit denial of AI voices during your disclaimer, Nick. Trying to be a voice actor is hard enough as is but seeing projects increasingly use AI to basically replace the field was so incredibly disheartening I almost gave up a few times and even now my will to continue is pretty busted, so it's very uplifting to see people who feel so strongly against AI and AI voice work in particular. Love from the state of voodoo and gators

I feel like if it were just another project he wouldn't have made the effort to make a whole video telling people to stop messaging him about his other works. It seems to me that people recognizing him was always meant to be part of the story.

I was having a shit day, but this upload literally made it 10 times better, bensplayhouse is really underrated and used a format that is so extravagant for its time that i just... love it. On AI replacing the jobs of artists and other creatives, I totally agree with most of what you're saying. Unfortunately, due to the multiple incidents in the US of Japanese translators flagrantly rewording original dialogue in manga and anime in an attempt to reflect their own social and political agendas, I have to say that I'm all for AI temporarily taking over those jobs. At least until the idiots who think their ideology is more crucial than the producing the author's original story.
Thank you SO MUCH for summing up all my feelings of extreme unease about generative AI. Its being pushed by the same kind of techbro grifters who were pushing crypto and NFTs not long ago, & as a copywriter and video creator, the thought of companies lazily replacing me with an AI drone is terrifying and depressing, & the thought of data scraping & my content and words being used for training AI models to then replace me altogether is *bloody* scary. & this isn't even getting into the extreme amount of energy used to run generative AI programs.

These are folks that should know the trials of starting from the bottom. And to just let a computer do it. Pathetic. Other than that, thank you for bring this unfiction to me.

On the topic of ai voices I think Suda51 is an interesting creator to look at. For no more heroes a ai voice was used to introduce each boss but for no more heroes 3 a voice actors performance us used to announce each boss and declare their death, a voice filter is used but it sounds so much more visceral.

I was once convinced that AI could be used sparingly in creative applications, like for inspiration while writing a book. From my experience, even that much is too much. I didn't realize that immediately. Some of the ideas it gave me were implemented into my book, and once I had finished and reread it, I went back and started to cut out the things that didn't work. At a certain point, I realized an entire rewrite was in order, because none of the ideas the AI gave me actually fit into my story. I deleted half of the novel and am slowly rewriting it, this time without ChatGPT's "help."
AI is not a tool for creatives, and this web series perfectly shows that. It's a method of collecting and sorting through data (most of which isn't actually collected for science but mined from the internet, copyright be damned) and the resulting "product" is only a tool in the minds of delusional people.
