I also cringed pretty hard when people would randomly bring up irrelevant games to the point of discussion. Read the room a little bit. They even said discussion about the game.
@@JoRo729i mean, to be fair, at the beginning they did say audiences can give their opinions of overrated games which confused ppl. It was not until colin got mad at the GoW girl and came back from lunch that he really explained.
I lost track of Colin after Kinda Funny, mainly because i wasnt really playing games during that time and only just got back into it a couple years ago. So glad he's found so much success even after all the BS that unfolded 🙌🏾
I was so happy Chris didn't "stand down" with his choice not because I hate that game but because it created the most discourse amongst the panel and audience. I think Dagan also got a similar response and that's what I appreciated most about this show. Thanks for making this show available to the public LSM family.
Cog was the most right, Dustin had the best presentation, Chris had the funniest, and the Moriarity bros took an L with their selections but they were well done and funny in their own right. Everyone thank Ben! ❤
I really don’t understand how Collin could arrive at that game being one of the most overrated games ever. Half of his audience haven’t even heard of it and it’s pretty much agreed on that game as a piece of shit.
I just watched the first Evening With Last Stand for the first time earlier this week. It was great! But the improvement in quality between that show and this one is amazing! P.S. Id like to offer-up that CDC has now become CDCDC
Another great live event!!! - I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, and I LOVED Dustin's presentation! The story is an absolute mess, but the games are fun to play, and I love old school Disney. - I can't really agree with Dagan's pick. Mario 64 was during the time when 3D gaming was just beginning. Almost all games at the time were ugly, but Mario 64 had great controls. - I didn't expect Colin's pick, but I completely agree. Altered Beast was absolute trash, even for the time. There's a reason the Genesis didn't become popular until the first Sonic game. - I love The Last of Us, but Chris still made some really good points. One more thing, I'm a massive fan of the Yakuza series (it's my favorite of all time!). Colin brought up Yakuza, and the name change. Well, the name was changed because of something that happened in the story of Yakuza 7 (Yakuza: Like A Dragon outside of Japan), so it wouldn't make sense to keep the Yakuza name. Also, the games in Japan have always been called 'Like A Dragon,' so now the names going forward are the same for all regions. I still hope Colin eventually gives Yakuza 0 a try one day.
Excellent as always! Dagan - I say this from a place of love… you’re funny, organically, so lose the papers! Would have much rather have watched you fumble recalling jokes from memory than seeing those papers! 😎
Eh, I look at Super Mario 64's polygonal graphics the same way as I do early pixel art, there's a certain amount of interpretation and forgiveness you have to allow. That being said, when I first played SM64 in 1996 it blew my mind, there was nothing like it (Dagan's take was certainly an odd one, we were all impressed by almost any large 3D world in the mid-90s). Personally, I always thought early Playstation 3D looked much worse due to the flickering and warbling. Also, SM64 controls magnificently, it's still one of the best feeling 3D platformers (minus the terrible camera, which was still innovative at the time).
Y’all should come back in August if you thought it was hot in February😂 I wish I could of gone to the show being only 20 minutes away but alas it wasn’t meant to be but I’m excited to finally watch!
Chris had the most right and best presentation. Colin and Cog had great picks. Dustin was wrong but right at the same time and I hate him and love him for it. Dagan needs be taken out back...
As a native Nutmegger (now a new Texan), I lamented leaving behind Stew Leonard’s, but now that I’ve experienced Buc-ee’s - I’ve never felt more at home.
Maybe I'm just in a mood, but the crowd was a little annoying. Are you there for the show or there to shout things and feel special? I like the Q&A stuff, but the random shouting came across like a bad stand-up crowd to me.
To be fair to Altered Beast - it was Game made for 8-bit systems and arcade boxes. On the SMS, we didn’t have a Bear level, but a Tiger. Tiger was awesome.
As a Kingdom Hearts fan, was cracking up at Dustin's slideshow trying to make sense of the series - the story is truly a mess, but it's so fun to play Also I agree that God of War Ragnarök was overrated, and incredibly boring for the most part lol
I'm surprised with Colin's choice. It was an absolutely massive game at the time, but it almost feels like it predates him. It feels like something that was more huge for someone me and Dagan's age. I just remember being wowed by how graphically impressive it was at the time. And honestly it's still does have a pretty kickin soundtrack.
I think the thing that makes The Last of Us amazing is that it does so many things so great. Gustavo Santaolalla's score captures every moment perfectly. Every performance feels authentic and raw. The train station and the underground tunnel with the clickers are genuinely terrifying. The clickers change the generic zombie design enough to make it interesting. Killing a human in the game feels more real than almost any other game. The use of environmental storytelling doesn't feel like a gimmick and adds so much to the world building while also telling impactful side stories.
I think the thing about Mario 64 is that we'd already seen plenty of ugly games on the transition from SNES/Mega Drive to the PS1/Sat/N64. The 3D0, Jaguar, Sega CD all had more than their fair share of ugly games. Honestly, even games like Star Fox and Vectorman are kinda eh. Mario 64 was good enough and had a move set that was basically a tech demo for everything to come. Even back then the N64s main appeal was having 4 controller ports and the same four or five multiplayer games that everyone wanted to play. If you wanted good graphics, you'd go to the arcades. I remember when Wind Waker's art direction was considered controversial. Great games dont always go the direction you think.
Dagan hits the nail on the fucking head when it comes to the obscene and horrifying move from beautiful 2D to early 3D. 3D created opportunities and certainly evolved, but the move from 2D was insanely unbeautiful
Was expecting to hate Colin's answer, but he's right. As a Sega child and someone who thought this game was so cool growing up, I 100% agree that it is not a good game. At all. Put side by side with other Sega offerings at the time like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Shinobi, the game is outright embarrasing.
I feel like Dustin should've just picked one game. Kingdom Hearts 1 is way too good and not overrated, but the overall plot of the entire series is overrated.
I'm amazed Colin didn't pick a Sonic game as his most overrated game. Of course he wouldn't because the original Genesis Sonic Games are some of the best platformers of the 16 bit era and he knows it. LOL.
Most overrated games of all time? Bethesda Softworks titles, hands down. No contest. There’s *something* there, but they’re so poorly developed, poorly optimized, janky, bug filled, glitch riddled messes that anything promising gets lost in the wash. In a perfect world, Bethesda would retain the writing staff-the people responsible for crafting the lore, journal and book entries, all that stuff-and fire literally everyone else. Scrap that pathetic, laughably outdated creation engine and focus on crafting a highly polished experience with insane attention to detail-Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great example. Yeah, elder scrolls is interesting and all, but after getting stuck in the stairs, falling through the map, or enduring the god awful clunky combat it becomes clear they’re overrated middling titles as they stand.
gonna watch the whole thing at 2x speed
5x speed or you didn’t even really watch it.
Dam it I was just gonna post that :P
You heathen
Make sure you’re playing a game while you do it. To maximize time.

Is there anything more cringe than the people in the audience shouting and interrupting one of the guys?
I also cringed pretty hard when people would randomly bring up irrelevant games to the point of discussion. Read the room a little bit. They even said discussion about the game.
Likely inevitable with the unscripted nature of an event like this. At least it wasn't too often.

On the whole, I thought they were pretty well behaved and didn't talk over anyone when one of the hosts were speaking. Seemed fine to me
It was a joy to be there and an honor to get a chance to ask a question. Also Dagan is most certainly the secret weapon.
Dustin really outdid himself in his segment. I have no excuse to miss the show in europe now
I actually love that Dagan gets a stand up routine at the beginning, i really appreciated the cosplay segment lmao

Wow Chris is a really good writer! Thoroughly impressed with his presentation. That was excellent and hilarious.
His other podcast The Snark Tank is much more comedy/improv focused. He's hilarious.
