10 Best Places to Live in Northern Ireland

- What are the best cities to live in Northern Ireland? We don’t often hear about Northern Ireland as much as we do the three other provinces because it’s the least discussed. If the 4 nations making the kingdom are ranked in order of popularity, we could go like England, Scotland, and, Wales. That’s why many people don’t have an idea of what living in Northern Ireland, the fourth province of the UK is. This time, we want to discuss the 10 best places to live in Northern Ireland.
This will prove that the part of Ireland that remained in the UK since 1921 is not faring badly at all. Please enjoy the discussion about the best places to live in Northern Ireland.
10. Newtownards
Newtownards is a town, townland, and civil parish in County Down. It’s not far from Strangford Lough, another one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland that would be discussed later. Newtownards is at the northernmost tip of Strangford Lough. It is also 10 miles east of Belfast on the Ards Peninsula.
When Newtownards hit the headline on July 17, 2021, it was about the townland of Ballywatticock toward Mount Stewart, where temperature peaked 31.2 °C at 15:40. Besides that, it has a very low crime rate. The town has a lot of beautiful spots that can add colors to the quality of life. Places such as Movilla Abbey, Somme Heritage Center, and Mount Stewart attract people to this town. The town’s residents are also entertained by sporting activities such as rugby, cricket, football, and motor racing. It is one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland.
9. Fermanagh
Ireland's Lakeland County of Fermanagh is the next of the 10 best places to live in Northern Ireland. It’s one of the six counties of the region, bordering the Republic. The county is renowned for its boating and fishing. Once a legendary dry plain, Fermanagh was believed to have magic well at its center with widely held tales of two lovers. Of course, the story around it makes the county. The lakes of Lough Erne stretching through 50 miles over the county were believed to result from bubbles from the water.
If you live in Fermanagh, you’ll be living in the roots of some famous people, including writer Rudyard Kipling and former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Ulysses Grant. Enniskillen, which we shall talk about later, is the county town of Fermanagh. You don’t generally hear about crime here and the cozy place has enough amenities.
8. Ballycastle
Let’s next consider Ballycastle, a small seaside town in County Antrim. Deriving its name from the Irish expression “Baile an Chaistil,” the “town of the castle” is on the north-easternmost coastal tip of the region of the United Kingdom. Its harbor plays host to the ferry to Rathlin Island quite visible from the coast.
Anyone living in Northern Ireland and desires a harbor town to live near the coast should consider living in Ballycastle. If you’ve ever heard anything about the best places to live in Northern Ireland, you’ll realize that Ballycastle is frequently mentioned in such lists. According to The Sunday Times, this seaside town is one of five places in Northern Ireland considered the best places to live in Britain. The publication crowns it as actually the best place to live in the province. It receives accolades for offering a better quality of life to the majority of the residents in areas of education, health, crime control, and house prices.

#northernireland
Has the person who made this video, ever been too Northern Ireland?
Oh no the pronunciations are beyond awful, should have done your research
Haha this was a joke lol
Very good video ty
Holywood in Northern Ireland is spelt with one L and it's not to be Confused with Hollywood in California spelt with two Ls.
Come on ffs, Loff, Mackerafelt and then Bango!? 😂
They don't know how to spell
It gave me a good laugh though 🤣
Few big ones left out imo, jordanstown is a perfect place to live (you could add it as newtownabbey). It’s a 15 minute drive from Belfast yet very suburban, there are great primary, high schools and a university within a 5 minute drive of wherever you live there. Plenty of shops, Abbeycentre being the biggest shopping centre nearby.
The commentator's pronunciation of many of Northern Ireland's towns is hilarious.
It's one of those bot voices
Strangford Loff 😂😂😂
Shocking AI commentary.
😂😂 the meaning of Ballycastle is all wrong to. In another video it was laugh kneea lough Neagh
His pronunciation of the names is absolutely AWFUL a total butchering of the names.
He needs to study up on this as it is a total insult perpetuated by the English.
It would help if the towns were pronounced properly
The name is Fermanagh, it's one of the Counties in Northern Ireland
When the euphemistically called Troubles started reporters from the BBC and ITV were despatched to cover what was happening in places such as Mageera, Strabain and Co-aliceland.
When Wonnacott was still hosting Bargain Hunt I recall him being in Belfast, by the Laygan river: on Antiques Hunt the contestants were travelling through A-hog-hill.
Osman on Pointless still sometimes gives us Banger.
A hog Hill was another great one.
Holywood is such a lovely friendly place and I definitely recommend staying there
As someone who has lived in Holywood my whole life I totally agree
@@Yasmin-ue2yq yes! I lived there aswell and everyone seems to know one another or are very friendly.
Did you ever visit a chip shop called Georgias?
@@Yasmin-ue2yq yes in Holywood! So sad it shut down.
I know, aidy, me and my friends still get sad when we go by it.😔
Loufff Erne!!!!! No its a Lough
Holywood, Co Down, has the greatest concentration of charity shops for a small town.
And ive never heard Bangor called Bangoh.
How did Omagh and
Newtownards get on to that list, you know he's not from here, couldn't say half the names
You missed Portstewart ghosh can’t believe you didn’t even mention it🙄🤦🏽♀️
I've lived in Co. Down all my life and never heard of Strangford loff lol
This guy's names and criteria all over the place, He lists a whole county next to a village and a lot of intermediate settlements.
This has to be an AI voiceover. I human could fuck up that many names of these well known places.
Magherafelt is not in Fermanagh 😵💫
Magheravela is.
I recommend Kilkeel and Newcastle. Most of N.I is very scenic though.
Kilkeel….. aye…
I have cycled from Belfast to Kilkeel via Newcastle, so I agree with your comment
I swear that man has never set foot on Northern Island. And I bet he never even visited Stranford Loff..
or Bango !
I can't decide if the funniest thing is a) calling Bangor, Bango; b) showing a picture of HMS Belfast in London as if it's in NI; c) mentioning Ulster as a place to live in NI.
And, how could I forget, 10 "cities" 😂
This is dumb. The list has towns like ballycastle and hillsborough. Then the whole flipping county of Fermanagh. And the pronunciations were really bad, you should read it yourself rather than getting a bot to do it!
@Amanda Dan shut up
7:21 im sorry, BANGO?! i think you'll find theres an r at the end good sir
What about Bangor and Comber
Here's a cracker: during the ad breaks of The Hotel Inspector there is a chance to win a two night stay for two at the Culloden Hotel, Holy Wood, Belfast!!!
What's a loff?
Could you make a video of the best cities to live and work in the UK in 2022?
Dublin, the capital of Northern Ireland, is a fantastic place to live too. My friend Dawson told me to meet him at the Castle, before we went to Mackaraafeelme for tea😅😂🤣😳😉👍🏻 Sorry for any offence caused. Spearmint mountains are a background beauty too.. What a treat🤔
Dublin? You mean Belfast.
@@richardbrown2334 Oh ok...You sure it's not Bushmills
The last time I was there, I met a jolly fella called Dawson Castle.
I was later told his real name was Simon from Castle Dawson. Sorry for any confusion 😳😉
7:57
"Since 2019, when the Sunday times named it the 'Best Place to live in Northern Ireland', it has become so famous as the 'Best Place to live, work and visit in Northern Ireland'.
What a thought provoking sentence
Is this video a piss take?
Wtf, you showed Whitehead about 5 times but never featured it. It's your damn thumbnail for god sake lol
Ards made it on the list 😊
What about the ards peninsula or was that included on the list already under ards. Bangor not on it 😂
Very clear and friendly description. Thanks.
You obviously don't know the first thing about Northern Ireland! 😂 This whole video is incredibly inaccurate to say the very least!! 😂 p.s I'm Northern Irish & have lived here my whole life. This guy is clueless! 😂
Almost every video he puts out is full of errors and uninformed opinion. I wonder if it's deliberate to stimulate comments, or if it's just that doing any basic research is far too much to ask.
@troy ,I got a job in HSC and I want to know which city is preferable for an oversea African nurse, am a Catholic too. Please suggest for me thanks 👍
Soweto.@@julianacaroline3656
Nice to hear something nice being said about our beautiful wee province for a change but Omagh? Seriously? The pronunciation of the town names is hilarious. Strangford Loff? A well connected Loff 🙏 give me strength. Belfast, Derry and Ulster are also good places to live? Northern ireland is Ulster?
Nothing wrong with Omaggh. very friendly with great countryside and gortin glens
@judelyons1 I lived in Dromore for many years. Never found Omagh friendly. Tyrone is one big bog. Had to drive to Gortin Glen or Necarne Castle to walk the dogs and Gortin Glen is tiny. Tyrone is just one big bog. Just my personal opinion. No offence :0)
Strangford loff?
What a load of absolute nonsense.
None of the 10 mentioned are Cities
The talking robot should be unplugged for not promoting Portrush and Ballycastle even higher. The north Antrim / Derry coast is one of the best parts of the UK (but for how much longer will it be in the UK after Brexit?) Lovely part of the world whoever it 'belongs' to.
Can't we say one of the loveliest places in the British and Irish Isles?
@@jamesbovington8218 No because the British Isles is a term which includes Ireland. As far as the narrator is concerned he did a good job to attract non-Irish citizens to the province, which is surely what business wants.
What a hoot! Dodgy photography and numerous pronunciation mistakes, and a script seemingly cobbled together from an old Sunday Times article by someone who has never set foot in "our wee country". Snort!
Northern Ireland isn’t one of the provinces of Ireland. It consists of six counties within one of the provinces.
Bango? And what's a Lof?
Has Donegal been expelled from Ulster?
@@myapinion7532 he literally said "belfast derry and ulster are great to live in in northern ireland" this thing made my brain ache
@@myapinion7532 Hi. Thanks for being upfront. No one can know everything I certainly don't. The fact is that Cavan Monaghan and Donegal are traditionally Ulster counties. Northern Ireland is an artificially created political entity Ulster is traditional and historic. Northern Ireland might have had more legitimacy if it had included all of the province of Ulster.
@@anonymousleftwingtroll7677 Yea, l was getting dizzy with all the mistakes. They need to do their homework before making their videos. 😊
@@jamesbovington8218 He said 'While Belfast, Derry and Ulster are good places to live in Northern Ireland...', so l was just meaning that Ulster is the whole area, not a town or city within Northern Ireland, as it implies.
Who from Belfast plz tell me
I am but no longer live there...still in NI though
Please someone teach these voiceover people how to pronounce names properly, if you don't know then research it 😖
You’re having a Lough.
Belfast , Derry and Ulster ? are also good places to live in Northern Ireland ??? Someone needs to revisit the "Learning Canteen"
and learn about the geography of a region before making a video full of mistakes and mispronunciations, embarrassing !
Don't emphasise the 'g' in Magherafelt.
Newtownards doesn't have a low crime rate now
Too true with the feud.
Did a computer just randomly select random towns? These are NOT the best places to live
Oh please don't pronounce it as Northern ISLAND - it is Northern Ireland. 😏
It’s the northern part of Ireland
I enjoyed lough pronounced as 'loff' as well
@@martinburns5404 no don’t you ever dare say that…… I’m warning you
there's no different in the pronunciation of that for many people.
WHERE IS LARNE
Lough is pronounced loch, as in Scotland.
Spent first 32 years her left 37 years ago and won’t be back.
It’s Royal Hillsborough
This is a wind up isnt it?
Belfast, Derry & Ulster!! 😂
Don't know where you got your top ten from. Lol. Also before recording you should have got advice as to how to pronounce the places. Lol
Four provinces of the UK? That's a new one!
I think the nicest place to live in North Ireland is probably Australia
Strangford loft. Good God.
i think it's fur-muh-naar
Dublin
What? No Craigavon? Just joking!
It's not a province! Its just a region.
Wheres moira, Ballinderry and agalee
The locations could be right, but the order was clearly wrong. Fermanagh should have topped the list, something so self-evident, it’s probably not worth mentioning.
NI isn't a province it's a constituent nation.
You showed the ugliest spots imaginable in Ards.
Lol I saw Corry St and I think East Street
I like the sound of this place Bango. It has to be better than the dump I live in now, Bangor. I wonder if Bango is near Strangford Loff?
And how great is it that Newtownards made the list and Bango...I mean, Bangor didn't? I can imagine the angry gnashing of teeth.
Both towns are absolute shiteholes, by the way.
ANTRIM TOWN OP
Stay where you are.
The spelling and pronunciation was bad to say the least.
Portrush at six lol. It's a dirty seaside town with nothing in it except families of Belfast folk who've been renting the same caravan their granny did 40 yrs ago over the 12th fortnight to escape the bands.
Pronunciation is so awful and how did he pick these places. Why is Newcastle and Warrenpoint not on the list??
Whatever the hype about the Northern Ireland backwater I like to quote Churchill who in 1922 commented: " The whole map of Europe has been changed … but as the deluge subsides and the waters fall short we see the dreary steeples of Fermanagh and Tyrone emerging once again.”
...dreary...'nuff said!!!
Wasn't behind the door during WWII. Told Devalera (Irish Republic). If they helped Britain during the war he would give him the 6 counties. Basically told to get on your bike. Churchill was chased out of Northern Ireland.
Funky off
Edited
The entire county of Fermanagh. Like are you having a laugh. Not much research done for this video.
Even the stock images he's using are full of sectarian fleg shit and closed shops.
I turned it off when it said newtownards 😂😂😂
Ridiculous pronunciation
Your pronunciation is absolutely hilarious
nope
Newtownards! 😂😂
Makes me laugh the way English people pronounce things 🤣🤣🤣
Where's Portstewart on the list??
If you're from the Northcoast you'll know its far nicer than Portrush
Was thinking the same myself. Take omagh otf and get portstewart to the no1 spot
Is this video satire?
Bollux.
Must be a piss take!
I just wanna say that portrush is a beautiful place to live.
None of them
Belfast is actually decent for the most part. Good nightlife and friendly people.
But what got me was on weekdays how the city centre felt absolutely deserted during the working day, then everyone appeared from nowhere to go out for lunch, then they went back to work and the city was deserted again. Didn't seem to be much in the way of cars, or people going shopping or just walking about. It was quite eerie.
That and public buildings like courts, police stations etc. looking like fortresses. The police stations I saw in Belfast were more secure than some of the military bases I've seen here on the UK mainland.
@@mxbx307 Mate I've literally lived in Belfast all my life. It's shite.
