Don't go there on a bike - I was fined £75 for riding 20 meters into a prohibited zone - no visible signs, never been to Bedford on a bike. Basically £3 a second. Accosted by two jobsworth council enforcement herberts who issued the ticket. After telling then I'm not from the town and never been on a bike - no warning told me to appeal - fat lot of good that did - refused out of hand, Money making scam from a council who dont give a f**k about genuine people who are not louts - in this case a 71 year old pensioner.
I agree. Bedford Centre is a total nightmare as simply so confusing. Even lorry/delivery drivers say the same. I spent over an hour 1 Sunday early morning, e.g. 8am, attempting to drop off clothing to a charity for the homeless earlier this year when the weather was really bad. Never found their location. But, after stressful hour spent trying to find them decided to go home. Unfortunately, being rather stressed out, strayed into a bus lane for seconds, no buses or much other traffic around at that time either, but received a £60 fine. Told to appeal but no excuses accepted - what was the point? Money making scam imho!
