The Domain is back with another Halo Infinite Mega Construx video!
Halo has partnered with Mattel to produce Mega Bloks / Mega Construx toys for over 15 years. This has spanned the release of Halo Wars, Halo Reach and Halo 4-Infinite. With this, they have produced thousands of toys and tens of thousands of pieces.
Mega Brands was formed back in 1967 out of Montreal, Canada. In 2009, they acquired the licence for Halo, originally branded it as "Halo Wars: the Authentic Collectors Series". Soon after, this was dropped to just "Halo Mega Bloks", before its third rebrand into "Halo Mega Construx", a more adult take on the licence. This lasted up until roughly 2021, with a final rebrand into simply "Halo Mega". What comes next for the brand? Only time will tell...
Halo Infinite was delayed from 2020 to 2021. In that time and after it has seen a multitude of issues and delays, but at the heart of this lies a true return to form and a gorgeous campaign. Halo Infinite Season 1 and 2 had a long extended life but Season 3 returned to the original promise of 3 month long seasons. With the return of Forge, Halo Infinite seemed to be in a largely completed form. Season 4 and 5 hit hard, with excellent releases of Firefight KOTH, Infection and dozens of quality of life improvements. Unfortunately, the seasonal format would come to an end with the Spirit of Fire update, dropping the formula all together to be replaced by operations. It's hard to say what the future holds for Halo, but you better believe I'll be along for the ride.

I was able to get a assault on high ground that is still sealed in perfect condition (i sold my old halo sets when i was much younger but still kept some halo sets that i couldn't get rid of). I opened the box and it was all still sealed with everything, including the old poster card saying "WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU" and it was just one of the best feelings ever

Man I remember going ham on all the OG sets back when they released, I have a bin somewhere with a literal ton of the first wave of blindbag figs as I was so callous with my spending I just bought them to see what I would get. Seeing the first gen hog to the most recent Halo show hog is just amazing with how they've improved.
Those S1 blind bags are going up and up in value!
i remember getting this at 11 years old in Dec of 2011 for Christmas so nostalgic & good times when life was so simple 😭

I'd love to see more sets like Flood Firefight, that set was like a tressure trove of parts and background pieces for set building. Mega parts are pretty difficult to get now
I left it in the back car window as a kid. It never stayed together after that.
The pieces also melted…..just from the tank treads.
Over the course of many years, the tank treads literally melted some of the Lego into goop.

I still have a copy of the Ariel Ambush sealed, by far one of my favorites. It’s what introduced me to Mega and it was my first Mega/halo set back when Mega Bloks released their first Halo wave. A lot of memories in that set.
This takes me back to when I had a couple sets as a kid, hornet versus covenant vampire and the Anti-Armor Cobra and then they all got destroyed by someone I used to call a “friend”, and all the parts were lost. I wish I still had them. But it’s nice to see that you could still get a hold of the scorpion and has it really been 15 yrs! Wow
Yknow something about the box art I just now noticed on the back. The sets are displayed how you would select units in Halo Wars, idk how I missed that but nice touch

Absolutely love these video of the old sets. Absolute legend. I still kept one in sealed mint set and remains as one of my trophies. Hope MEGA realized the love fans have for these sets

Great video, definitely my favourite type of content. I, like many others wasn’t collecting in the early days so missed out on all of these set reviews at the time. 15 years later I find these nostalgic reviews more interesting than reviews of a current sets. As a side note I was just thinking the other day whilst looking through my collection how great it would be if Mega released an updated version of this set with current building techniques, parts and figures just like they did with Aerial Ambush set, having the old and new Aerial Ambush sets displayed together is the ultimate testament to MEGAs progress over the past 15 years and I’d love to be able to do the same with this OG Scorpion.
Dude it would actually be the perfect set to remaster! I'll make sure to mention this to them next time I can.

This was my second Mega set ever, right after the UNSC Turret set that came out at the same time.

Just the other day I opened my grizzly tank set and my Sabre launch site sets and have been building those, I miss the older sets feeling to them with the detailed backgrounds and other art stuff happening via deatials of the set itself, dioramas with other sets mashed together, the messages of we want to hear from you, and so much more. I look forward to sharing more stories and maybe one day showing off my Halo collection as a whole. I've been working on stuff for stop motions, so I am thinking about starting a UA-cam channel for it and getting some out there. Maybe sharing some thoughts I have on older sets and some ideas I have for new sets they could make I'm sure would have everyone excited.

I think that this is the best scorpion because it looks think a call of duty scorpion and the box art it is just so good but I think it could halo had a extra elite it just a great set sadly I never got one but I did get the new scorpion but I see this scorpion for like a 650$ but there it is a great set

How is the build quality I know old sets tend to fall apart easy?
It’s only when the treads are out and not on anything that they will last for a long time but when it’s on something (like the tank) it will break someday
Sometimes the build quality is poor but this one snapped together like a DREAM

I remember watching you and your friend open up that massive haul 6 or 8 years ago and you guys got this custom figure with articulation and then that was shift...a year later they became articulated

I’m not plugged into the Mega community enough to know if this is a hot take, so sorry if I offended anyone lol, but I really prefer these sets to the newer ones - especially the old articulation figures. While the armor swapping and increased poseability the new guys have is nice, they just look so plasticy and cheap compared to the old ones, which had the metallic paint and black washes and were just so detailed. Honestly I still keep peripherally aware of Mega Construx since I am still a Halo fan and do think the new sets are okay for what they are, but I collected the entire clash on the ring figure series and it just wasn’t the same 😔 I know this is a pipe dream but I hope someday Mega will go back to the more realistic look (also I’d love to be wrong, if there are any newer sets that still have camo bricks and paint detail please let me know)
Anyway wonderful video, thank you so much for posting! It makes me wish I hadn’t completely destroyed all my old sets, because I had the OG covenant Wraith, the red Troop Hog, and the white Rocket Hog, the OG brute chopper, and probably one or two more I can’t remember (there’s pieces I know I have that aren’t in any of those sets but I can’t remember what set they are from). I imagine rebuilding them in this day and age, needing replacement parts and stickers and so on for anything that’s been lost/damaged would be impossible to get.
Thanks for stopping by! You’re actually alongside a strong percentage of people who still prefer the old stuff and no one can ever doubt how good the washes and paint apps were. Hope you eventually dig out and rebuild those old gems!
@@thedomainhalo I’ll give it a shot someday, but I know for sure some of the pieces are broken/missing and some of the stickers are gone. Is there any way on the secondary market or from Mega themselves to just buy the specific pieces you need? (Similar to how LEGO has pick a brick and Bricklink)
