To anyone wondering, the reason people say earlier versions of fl “hit harder” is simply because newer versions have a limiter on the master when you first boot it up. It can be turned off in 2 clicks.
u can easily get rid of it in settings so when u boot it up its not there anymore

FL 10 has a limiter on the master and the gain is pushed 5.5dB (default) the new FL is at 0db by default, just crank it up to 5.5 dB

He knows plenty of clues especially using FL with soft clipping and levelling beats in an unorthodox way / going into the red diff kind of bang and FL to my knowledge did not do a phase test with 2 clipped tracks. Not saying he’s right but he also said 11 look’s different which is what lots of people like as well

As much respect as I have for Southside this is more of a culture thing. Notice he said “when I started with fruity loops it wasn’t on macs”. I think there is an unspoken hierarchy when it comes to what gear you have. None of it really matters if you have the ear to make your music sound to industry standard. Macs are by far better value, there’s a reason some of the highest paid producers in the world use Macs lol. The plugins and software are cheaper than PC. But PC can do things macs can’t, like upgrade RAM etc. If you know how to mix and master it don’t matter what computer you use! I have a Razer Blade Stealth PC and it’s my baby. But I love my MacBook Pro🔥💯the quality is on another level.

I was on FL Studio when he was in diapers. I had Fruity Loops but the name change. It's also called mixing. Many have pointed out that the template that opens comes with a limiter. Mac and PC are completely the same with FL. They use gaming computers because memory is customizable.

fl studio 11 has an option in projects where you disable the panning law. that's why the 808 distortion is not the same if you only use a soft clipper on the master

Fl 10 or 11 w triangular panning turned on, no master channel plugins w just a mid and high boost on the master channel eq - can give you a really loud and crisp sound - much louder than fl 12,20, or 21. If you actually test this and don’t just go with other peoples opinions you will understand it is true.

FL 20 on Mac has provided a much better user experience than FL 11 on PC for me personally. Less bugs, less crashing, etc. I’m still able to achieve good quality mixes in FL 20 like I was able to in FL 11
I’ve been using FL since 2009 and I can attest that mixing all depends on the ears of the producer. It doesn’t matter which DAW you use at the end of the day. I get the same quality mixes whether using FL 20 on Mac or FL 11 on PC. 🤷🏾♂️
And real FL heads know that FL 9 is the real goated version of FL because of the legacy blocks feature…..

There is no difference in Mac sound output or PC! All that depends on your external DAC I.E. your sound card! So if you believe what he saying your mind is playing tricks on you! 😂
Most ppl who make beats aren't building their own PCs so they're not out here looking into sound cards. They have to rely on the default given to them on what ever PC or laptop they buy which will most likely be a cheap one so it will most likely had a cheap sound card. So while there can be no difference between the audio processing of Mac and PC to most (especially earlier in their career) there will be an audible difference between Mac an PC. That perspective isn't inherently wrong
Its the soft clip limiter on the master. You can replicate this sound using Glue compressor in Ableton 🥱

Fl for windows you use mac to record music and faster processing it’s less delay and the usb is DAW ready most interfaces and mic are plug n play.
It’s because Fruity Limiter on FL 11 is left on by most of these producers lol. That’s not a good thing. Most of the time mixing engineers do something to counteract that anyway…

I used PC and Fruity Loops. Sonar for my DAW. I liked the program. I think people like different things and how it fits with their workflow. The Monitors have a huge effect on the sound. I never correct artists. I try to give them what they asked for. It’ll sound different after it’s mixed and mastered anyway.
