You're supposed to keep the scooper warm, so the ice cream releases easily. When I was a kid, Thrifty ice cream counters kept the scoop in a separate container full of hot water.
They (Thrifty) has a little hot water reservoir for cleaning and heating the scoop continuously through use. You should be cleaning your scoop even if it's a different kind.

@@armagerwien my brother was a scooper, it's true they used water, but it was cold water.
Exactly what the person before me said. Thriftys always had the scoop sitting in a bin a freshly flowing warm water. Y'all didn't use it right
I recall they would keep the scoop in warm water to work properly
Dip in water first. Always works 14 years of scooping at Thrifty.
Yea you guys did it wrong you're suppose to go straight down on it not scoop it from the side
Yes, so we will have to give their technique in using this scooper. A 👎🏾

WORKS EVEN BETTER THE MORE FROZEN/COLD THE ICE CREAM IS AS WELL
Best scooper ever👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thriftys ice cream is still the best. Definitely childhood nostalgia
Yesteryear’s ice cream cones probably accommodated that scoop shape. It obviously worked years ago.
Because you weren't using it correctly - you need to dip it in warm water between scoops.
Not how you use a Thrify Scooper! It's supposed to be dipped in hot water first!
You leave the scoop in warm water.
Not how it's done.
Thanks for the comments. I'll try it again with hotter water, I used tap water.
