(And I remember thinking this on the night) He has what looks like an earpiece of some kind in his right ear. If you are going to see you're favourite band and get that close you're not going to wear an earplug are you? Again as I said earlier I may be way off the mark but that is how it seems looking back.
I was there too. Based on seeing Green Day a couple of years ago at a festival, either it’s deep setups all throughout a tour, or they just enjoy bringing fans up. Either way, they put on an awesome show for their fans.
No, they bring up guitarists all the time. It's a show tradition they've been doing regularly since like '97. Tbh I assume he didn't take the solo because he wasn't confident in the solo, I wouldn't either.

I don’t know man there are some pretty bad guitarists they bring up sometimes. Especially at the show I went to in 2021.
