Love this video. You're very real and to the point. Dog purse is a massive plus. I'm about to get the balls to busk after 15 years of music and 30 years of life, so this helped a lot.
Thank you. So inspiring. My Fishman loudbox charge has just arrived. I love it. I will be hitting the road myself soon to busking for first time. Playing and singing makes my Soul come alive. This lockdown has made me get back into my passion in a big way. You can stick the 9 to 5 I'm going doing my passion. Getting my head down learning some songs now. Should be ready to hit the road in week or so. Keep on rocking X 😊
Informative! I've been busking for 11 years and I've found a Backpack Gig Bag, a Roland Cube Street, and a milk crate on the back of my bicycle gets me to and from most anywhere... I have a looper pedal, and instead of using a Mic Stand, I use a Harmonica Holder to grip my microphone. It's a bit straining on the neck, but it sure beats lugging around a full mic stand. Fat Hats!
This is really interesting! I currently have a Roland street cube but am thinking of upgrading to the Roland Steet Cube EX, I might have to check out the Bose now!
The Street Cube Ex is great...but didn't make me happy until I replaced the woofers (bass speakers) with Jensen 4-Ohm speakers. They not only give the amp appreciably more bass and warmth, but also a tiny but more volume, despite even being a couple hundred grams lighter! A really worthwhile mod to make, and totally easy. I got the idea from a fellow musician, who got it from PianoManChuck here on UA-cam. After watching his video, be sure to check out my comments below it, where I explain a way to change the speakers even without using a soldering gun. The whole project took less than 15 minutes, and the speakers are cheap (I think I paid about EUR 35 for the both of them). Now I totally love the Cube Street Ex!!! :-) So get yourself a used one, mod it, and smile. Oh, and if you don't like the way your particular mic sounds through the amp (many sound a bit too harsh because the amp somewhat overdoes it with the treble, or not full enough in the bass if your mic cuts the bass too much), try others. It's worth it in order to bring out the best the amp can deliver.
@@scottbecker3485 Haven't had the pleasure of using the street cube ex yet (only the street cube) but do you know if the shure sm58 comes through well on it? Thanks
Mick Dwyer I‘ll fire up the Street Cube Ex later on today and see (I think my old SM58 is lying around somewhere...). But based on my experience with all other mics on this amp (about 8 in total), I‘d say that if your voice is anywhere similar to mine (somewhat baritone = lowish), then you would only be happy with the Street Cube Ex when singing through an SM58 (which, when held close, pushes the lower regions in a nice way) if you swapped the woofers as I detailed above. Otherwise, the amp will sound a bit weak, lacking „chest“ energy. As for cutting through, it has oodles of treble on the knob, so no problem getting any mic to cut through. More of a problem to keep certain mics from sounding too sharp. Before testing the SM58 for you on my modified amp, I will say that - for busking - I have come to love and exclusively use my Bose S1 pro. It has a much easier-to-carry size, packs a solid punch without breaking up when you scream into it, a very pleasing sound and doesn‘t need to be modded to sound great. My Street Cube Ex is sitting around at home, unused, because I still love it enough to not sell it, but it‘s just not getting out with me any more.
Mick Dwyer A few minutes later.... :-) Found the old SM58 and plugged it in. Very easy to cut through with that sound. Had the bass at about 1:30, the mids about 11:00, and the treble about 1:30. Reverb straight up, and channel volume about 1-2:00. Loud and clear! Still, I prefer the „meatier“ sound of the Bose S1 Pro. And repeat that the bass on the standard Street Cube Ex is not at all enough for me. The standard amp sounds a bit tinny.
Hii are you able to share the details of which battery you use and which inverter? I've been googling it , but not sure which specs will work for this kind of set up 😅
Hey thanks for your comment! I've got links in my description to a battery and inverter which would work well. The ones I have in this video are no longer available but the ones linked are what I'd buy now if I were replacing these items. I also have an update video about how to wire your inverter, link in the description too! Thanks again much love x
You should look into getting a Ridgid brand tool box on wheels. It's a lot sturdier than trolleys, and since the amp is enclosed inside the box, it will be protected from the elements. When you first open the box up, it will be partitioned inside, but that can come out, and it fits an acoustic amp perfectly. I'm in the US. I don't know whether you have that brand in the UK, but I'm sure you can find something similar.
Been busking about 8 years, playing violin and other instruments 69 years and am 75. Been through similar changes. Funny stories, hah? I use a power wheelchair and modified the back of it to hold my Roland Street Cube. Then drape a heavy duty bag to hold the Roland Speaker and cords, pedals etc. Use a RockPals generator 250 watt because my speaker runs out too quickly. Getting ready to snake my pedals together with portable 5-pedal input battery bank. QUESTION: You said your amp doesn't have reverb? I think the reverb on my Cube Street is just fine. Whatssup? Keep up the great work, you get an A+ from an old teacher. University of California, 1981 With blessings and love from Patricia to a beautiful and gifted young Brit. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
I live in Australia and I have been going busking for almost 20 years. I spent most of that time homeless, riding bicycles with trailers, sleeping in a car, camping and fishing. Today I'm 45 and have finger injuries. I always played an accoustic guitar with no amp strumming as loud as I can, and singing with no mic. My voice has held up but due to playing a cheap guitar, with high action, pressing down hard (because I am strumming hard) I have caused micro injuries to become a real injuries in my fingers. If I wish to continue to play guitar, I have to change how I play. Anyway it's good to see people getting out and enjoying busking. Its a great life.
Hey Nick, sorry for my slow reply I just spotted your message. What an amazing life you’ve had and such resilience from you 🙏 I love that you took the music with you through it all and sorry to hear that you’re not able to play the same way anymore. Hope you’re keeping safe and well 💜 x
@@ccampbellmusic thanks for the reply.. I feel very lucky to have had busking as my career in life. I have played to a lot of people, in a lot of towns over the years. It has taught me so much about people, myself and what music actually is. It has taught me what is important in life and how to stay happy. I feel good when I play and sing, and I enjoy the independence the money brings. I encourage anyone who wants to be a street performer to go for it. I have also been profoundly deaf since I was a teenager, so I have an assistance dog, a whippet that comes busking with me. He is always the topic of conversation. I went busking a couple of days ago, I took my bike, the dog in the bike trailer, and guitar. 🎸🚴🐾 Oh yeah...I forgot to say, I am super proud of you for going busking.
@@ccampbellmusic instead of using a 300w power inverter and a lithium battery, can you use a power generator... by charging the power generator in house then using that to power your instruments? im new to busking.. and asking.. because im not sure if that can work? i kinda want to know if its possible so then i can do that aswell
Amazing set up. Love the inverter idea Seb has one in his car which I've had since they were kids and needed to plug in all their chargers. He has a mains subwoofer in the car nowadays. By the way it's a bungee you are using not a cable tie!
Great video Char, loved your Bose sound system when we came down to The Smoke. It's hard to travel light when you're as good as you, I know, I'm rambling again, lol, but it's good to see you getting more equipment, and the bicycle is a must. Next time I come down, you'll have to let me have a go on it, look mummy, no hand's, lol. Keep Em Coming Gal😜
What an absolutely FANTASTIC video! I have a Bose L1 and was wondering how to power it - now I know! Thanks Charlotte. How do you connect the inverter to the battery?
"Then I gave myself a new problem to solve..." - Love it! :-) It's inspirational to see how resourcefully you've upgraded. Perhaps worth mentioning in this context that Fishman is hitting the market with a new version of its much-loved Loudbox Mini, called the Loudbox Mini Charge, which is identical to the original, but with the addition of a battery (4 hours of operation at top volume) and Bluetooth for playbacks. It still comes in under 10 kg and is rather compact, so might be an option for some. I own the standard model (no battery), and can describe its sound as very loud and full (great bass, very punchy, smooth), and also quite transparent (with a bit of treble added). It has built-in reverb (both channels, only adjustable in terms of the amount, not the type of reverb) and chorus (on the guitar channel, only). It has slightly upward-tilting face to it, which helps, and you can tip it a bit more with a board or towel rolled up underneath. I love it a lot, and plan to sell my Mini for a Mini Charge when it materializes.
+Scott Becker oh wow this is really good to know Scott! I love my current amp but I got caught in the rain the other day - luckily all is fine but it got me thinking about what I’d do if this amp died on me! It’s good but I think I’d be interested in tying something different when the time comes, hopefully not soon though! I’ll check out the Fishman for sure :) thanks for watching :)
Charlotte, I‘m delight my little tip might help you one day! And if you ever want to instead consider a Cube Street EX that sounds significantly better than the way it comes from the shop, you might want to read my reply to Megan below. (Hope I got the name right from memory.) There I describe a way to swap the woofers for a much fuller, richer sound. :-)
Hand carts and suitcases are made for hard working condition use. Check the weight limit for the hand carts and wheels before you use them. Anyway what's the total weight of the equipment you're hauling around?
Hopefully these comments won't be taken the wrong way. We all love Charlotte the person. If we can help her in any way, we will. When your Streets Of London video was shown on FPL, I had a lump in my throat when I saw the comments from people. So many people love you for who you are as a person. Hopefully the weddings you did this weekend went well, and they will live happily ever after. If you go to Portugal for the couple who proposed a few days ago and made me cry, I wish them all the best as well. As I said at the time, you couldn't have scripted that. By getting emotional, you proved that you are a normal human being with feelings. You are more than forgiven for making me cry by uploading that particular video. Love and Respect from Sterve xXx
I've got really excited when you mentioned your bike :D When I got home from London the very first thing my mum asked me was "Have you asked her if she settled on a name for the bike?" Thanks mother. Yes, I'm well, the flight was great andI'm still alive. But I guess your bike is more important than that :'D
Charlotte, I use a very similar voice pedal but mine has a battery powered option as well. In addition to reverb and correction, it has some cool voice doubling and octave capabilities too! It's exactly like yours except it's called the TC Helicon Duplicator. It's also green, which is my favorite color, so I give it a 10 out of 10! Check it out. BTW, cool setup. I use a Fishman mini Charge for my PA. I love it and it must have some nice preamps built into the 2 channels because it really makes my guitar and voice sound better and more refined. I have been looking for something with a little more power though...maybe the new Alto Uber FX or the JBL Compact. Anyway, happy busking!
Just watching this back as im starting to get into busking again and am considering taking it seriously this time. DANM GIRL you started with the Cube street amp. thats WAY above my bracket right now haha. sticking with my iphone duct taped to my guitar and a small single speaker for the tunnels haha but wish me luck little Songbird xox
That is awesome hun, one nice little setup :) I have a roland street cube, great little amp.... Erm, I don't busk, only been learning for 3 years (started late at 35), but it's great to take over my sisters and carry around the flat for practice anywhere :)
Just made sure I was following all your socials :) I've not been to South Bank, or London come to think of it, for donkeys. If I had my health I'd certainly come and see you perform!! I'll have to buy the 3 cd's on your site as soon as I can, love supporting indipendent artists who show as much passion such as yourself. Haha, there's a guy called 'Seasick Steve', he made his big break at around 66 years old, so I still got time yet :) I'm not very good at singing or playing, but enjoy it a lot, find it very theraputic, write songs I have no idea how to sing or put music too and still dream of getting well and making a living with music. Only been brave enough this past year putting up videos of myself singing and practicing. Since I started out I've made no end of 'musical' friends online, you're all such nice and wonderful people, it's like having an extended family :)
At age 64 l think l am going to start busking for fun. A local busker let’s me do a song or two and it is very well received . How long do you get with your set up each time.
+Bryan Harrison yeah I picked the golf buggy idea from another busker! It usually does me about 4/5 hours of playing but I've never tried to play longer than that in one day!!
I'm currently on the hunt for a portable power supply to power a big looper pedal, a couple of fx pedals and Korg Volca Sample. I've come across a couple little ones before like Volta, and Mooer make a battery aswell. But I'd love something more powerful like this so I can forget about it dying on me. Any suggestions anyone?
Hi Charlotte! I’ve bought a Power house battery and have a maplin inverter as well but I can’t seem to find a way to safely connect them, would you be able to tell me how did you do it?
Hi Ela. I asked Charlotte same question some time back. She kindly answered. However, mine has a hum sound now when attached to battery n inverter. So, follow more recent advice from Charlotte in below comments,,; remove the top plastic that covers the pins on battery (where the T bar connects) then simply attach the croc clips from inverter.
Hi Ela sorry for my late reply! I got a friend to help me with a bit of DIY on the wires. A bit unorthodox I think but we cut them both in half and then connected the inverter’s wires and the T bar wire by touching the red to the red and the black to the black and taping them together. As the comment below said, I’ve heard this can cause a hum, and I decided to unscrew the top of my battery and reconnect the crocodile clips to the inverter and it works much better. Might make a video about this to explain a bit better!
Dean Colvin Thanks a lot! I was struggling to figure out how to take off the very top, sticking out bit without actually leaving the battery open so I went for the wiring option at the end (found a friend with good DIY skills :))
Charlotte Campbell Thanks a lot! After all I went for the wiring option and it seems to work fine for me. I’m really curious though to see how you managed to connect it with the clips, looking forward to your video!
This might be a silly question but I was wondering what the cube’s volume level is like? Do you think it would be ok in a busy square or would it be drowned out? Love this video by the way, it’s super helpful! 😊
Thanks Lauren!! I think the cube would serve you fine even when it’s busy and loud, I rarely cracked the volume up to full on my cube, there was always more to go if I needed it! X
I have a fender acoustasonic amp that I will either do the battery and inverter, it’s a 90watt one so wonder if your battery and inverter will work to power it?... or get the Acus one street battery powered amp. I love my fender amp though and the battery powered amps sound kinda thin. Hope you have a suggestion for me. Keep up the good work.
Charlotte Campbell just an update... I acquired an “Acus one for street” battery powered amp. Honestly this thing is amazing ... I’ve never experienced clarity and true instrument tone from any other two channel amp I’ve heard or used. Only downside is it is 15.5 kilograms. Thanks for the reply. Will probably still get a inverter and battery for the Fender to play dodgy areas 😂
could you please tell the exactly model names of your inverter and battery, and how long does it last playing? thank you very much - the bike idea was superb
WELL! I am about to do an update video because this was a while ago. But battery is Power House Golf Buggy battery and lasts 5-6 hours for me. And the inverter was from Matalan which has now closed down so I recently bought a new one from amazon which was really good! The first one that comes up when you Google inverter!
So would they let you on the tube with a bike trailer or do you just travel by bike now? I'm grappling with just how much is practical to take on the train. I calculated that a guitar, amp battery and inverter will weigh up to about 50kg - not exactly light! Then there is the issue of what to do with it all when you are out and need to heed the call of nature! That has to be difficult!
Haha no I don’t take the bike on the tube! Choosing how to transport yourself is such a tough part of busking because it is all so heavy and in London taking the tube with a lot of stuff makes you public enemy number one! Hope you figure out a convenient way! The bike works for me but sometimes it causes more problems than it solves...
@@ccampbellmusic how many watts does your bose l1 speaker use up? ;o i have an 800 watt power speaker.. idk what that means exactly in terms of what battery and inverter i should be getting then idk how to recharge these things, please help ,_,
Hey Charlotte. I am currently in the process of upgrading my "wheels". Can you please tell me how is a granny trolly called and where did you buy it? :)
Hey! Nice one! If you're in the UK you can get the "granny trolley" from most markets - local stalls and shops that sell kitchen essentials - probably the proper name for it is a shopping trolley, grocery trolley or sometimes "trolley dolly". Online they seem to be quite expensive but from most markets you can get them for about £20! Good luck xx
Informative video...things changed so much in the past year.. I use to use a hand truck like yours, then switched to a foldable wagon for the beach, and now a foldable beach tall cart, that will hold a mic stand and speaker stand straight up. I also own the Bose L1 compact.its great...but now I have the LD systems Maui 5 GO. Built like the Bose, but totally battery operated but the battery is in the array "stick". It has a built in mixer but it also has no reverb. Otherwise its great! I sing at nursing and assisted living facilities one hour or so almost every day. Im looking for a reverb pedal that is battery operated. Would you know of one? I would like a pedal that I can power from a power bank that charges laptops and such but need a USB to 9volt input. Any ideas? Do you have to recharge the golf cart battery? I also have the Bose S1 speaker comes WITH reverb and battery lasts 11 hours also bluetooth. My wireless mics are all battery powered. I just need something for the reverb pedal. Thanks Barry entertainer in NYC
this is the best video! I have had trouble with how to transport my Roland street cube around and the suitcase idea is definitely what I will do. what sort of size suitcase would you recommend? thank you for this! xx
Hi Charlotte Great video and great solutions. I’m about to start busking (at the age of 69) and found your video very helpful, but can I ask you for more information regarding your battery and inverter? What size is the battery - amp hours? What make is your inverter? Can I also ask how long the power lasts when you’re on a gig? I intend to use a Yamaha 400i pa, or Maui5 pa, a couple of microphones and a saxophone plus backing tracks. I haven’t mastered the art of both singing and playing, in fact, I haven’t mastered the art of either. Thank you for your help. Regards Jim Charlton
Hey Jim! Really great that you’re starting your busking journey! My battery lasts me about 5 hours and the inverter was from Maplin which is now shut down, but the most basic inverter from Amazon will work.
Please may I ask you something. I have just bought my battery it’s similar to yours with the t bar and I got an inverter that’s a 1000 watt as I need to power the big Bose L1 model two with sub. The issue I have is what cable did you get to connect the inverter to your batter as the t bar from the battery has a plug on the end and my inverter only has like a spade connector that’s fits to the inverter but not sure how it connects to the t bar on the battery. Help help 🤣🤣🙈
Hey Wallace I am so sorry for my late reply!! I really need to make an update on this because I didn't explain it well in the video at all and I didn't expect many people to watch this really as I didn't have many subscribers when I made it!! SO BASICALLY I had to cut the wire from the T Bar and rewire it to connect to the inverter. So I cut the crocodile clips off and connected the red one to the red wire (inside the T Bar cable) and the black to black. And then taped it up! I will do an update on this later this month but I hope that makes some sense and you're able to fit it together nicely! xxx
@@ccampbellmusic Hey Charlotte no worries at all Happy New Year and lets hope and pray we can get back to some form of normality and get busking again. I got an inverter in fact i have two a thousand watt pure sine inverter and i have 500 watt modified, both work well even the modified which is meant to give you buzz in the speaker, mine seems to work perfectly well. I took the T Bar out the equation and got some bolts that fit the post holes and screwed that on permanently, and crocodile clamps on the other, a bit messy but i get around 6 hours running my speaker and my pedalboard / looper. So all working pretty well at the moment. However thank you for coming back to me. Stay safe 🤗
Charlotte, Please how many amp hr. and watts is the battery and long will it overate your speaker? Your speakers how many watts? Thank you so very much.
Hi, Have only just seen your video, do you still use the same equipment? Did you consider the Roland Street cube EX? Or the Bose S1? Both great units. Have a happy day and greetings from a Campbell from New Zealand. Mike.
Hey Mike! Great timing I actually just made an update video about this, check my description for my recent update about using the Bose S1 :) I think its a fantastic amp! Lots of love from a London Campbell! xxx
How do you get an inverter with the correct type of connector (i think its a t bar connector) for a golf buggy battery? Most inverters I have seen have crocodile clips
Great question. Originally, took the crocodile clips off the inverter and rewired the T Bar connector (red to red and black to black) so that the wire fit my battery. However that required folding the fraying wires around the “live” parts of the inverter and unfortunately sometimes they came undone which was causing me trouble so I ended up unscrewing the cap that held the T bar connection (on the battery) to expose the metal prongs inside and reconnected the crocodile clips to the inverter and I clip them onto the exposed prongs and it works best this way for me. I hope that makes some sense :)
Cool I hear what you are saying I think! Maybe the frayed wire ends could be crimped onto to some metal terminals which could then fix to the live bits of the inverter. I havent seen an inverter yet but I think they would have a screw post for the red and black terminal so the metal terminals could potentially work (they probably cost a couple of quid at the most. I thought about trading my AER 40watt amp in for a battery powered one such as the Loudbox Mini Charge but I think a 22ah golf buggy battery and inverter may be a good compromise as the sound is excellent on the 40 watt amp. Thanks. I fully intend to get busking soon.
Jonathan Beech haha good I’m glad that made sense! Yeah I think the crimping would be a good call but yeah the red and black posts on the inverter are pretty obvious when you see the inverter! X
Jonathan Beech no I took the cap where the T bar connects off the battery. But the T bar was connected to a wire which I discarded and used the crocodile clips and wire that came with the original inverter
Hi Charlotte I also busk and have had similar journey I also got an investor and a lithium ion battery. How many amp hours is your battery and how long does your set up stay powered before you Invergorden starts to scream..does it scream after a few. Hours link mine does lol 😂 ? Thanks.
Hey Charlotte! Thank you for this great video. :) Why didn't you go for an AER amp? And why a golf buggy battery? Why not just a car battery, or motorbike battery?
+Djinn Music thanks for watching! I tried the AER and it just didn't sound quite right for me, although I know most people rave about it! Also the golf buggy battery was the most compact option and at a good price so I went for that :)
Hey there, thanks for answering! Yeah I know the feeling, people adore Takamine, and I just can't understand why. When it comes to sound I guess it becomes very personnal. I have another question about the battery, You bought your's on power house golf's website? It's 16Ah/12v do you know if there's a minimum Ah required?
No worries, finally I bought the Powerhouse battery like you. :) I'm still trying to figur out how to connect it to the converter. This part you didn't show...
Hi Charlotte, i read on the internet that you use an EC Card reader while you are busking. I'm busking too and i'm looking for one. I wonder how it works. Can the people type in a certain amount they want to give you? Cause i think if i would use the Card reader "Sumup Air", i'll have to type the amount first in my mobile app which is connected via bluetooth with the cardreader. But i can't do that while i'm playing. How does it work? How is your solution? Would be very thankfull for your help. Greetings, Fly
Hey sorry for my late reply! Just caught this! Yes I do! Mine works by setting a certain amount and then when someone taps or inserts their card and pin, after the payment is received it refreshes to that same amount again. I wish people could input their own amount but I don’t think the technology exists for that yet! For now, the Repeat Pay option on izettle is the best I’ve seen!
@@ccampbellmusic Cool. Thank you. I just ordered a zettle card reader. I downloaded the app already. The cool thing is, you can even accept card pay without a cardreader, only with your phone. Didn't know that.

Hey there, love the video so I went on to buying the same power set-up with the power house golf battery and a 300w power inverter. Only problem is the speaker is making a buzzing noise :( any ideas why?
+Danny Sweet heya! I have no idea why that would happen. Sometimes I get a buzz when one of my pedals is slightly loosely connected. Does your amp make any kind of buzz when it’s plugged into the mains? I also had trouble with a faulty inverter when I first did this (kept saying no battery when I knew it was full charge) I replaced the inverter and it worked straight away! Really sorry I can’t be of more help!
I watched this over and over as well, because I was looking up ideas for busking and powering my loop pedal which needs a battery. I wonder why you guys didn't just get a power inverter?! Great video!
Apparently there are two types of power inverter. Pulse width modulation types have an erratic and less smooth power supply than the slightly more expensive true sine wave models which may be the source of your problem. The True sine wave inverters cause less of a problem with amplification interference. bit.ly/2rH6QiO has an interesting post on his blog about set ups for busking.
I'd imagine this could be to do with impedance, if the output is higher than the input of the receiving device etc. I may be wrong, but when you connect devices to speakers etc having the input volume lower and the output volume higher helps a lot.
Hey I'm sorry for this incredibly late reply! I need to make an update on this as I got a lot of questions about it but I had to cut the wire from the T Bar and rewire it to connect to the inverter. So I cut the crocodile clips off and connected the red one to the red wire (inside the T Bar cable) and the black to black. And then taped it up! I don't know if that is a great explanation but I hope that makes some sense and you're able to fit it together nicely! xxx
That's a tough one. I check the weather a lot in advance and tend to avoid going out on days that say any rain at all to avoid getting caught in it. Some buskers I know carry a black bin bag with them always to cover their amps if it starts to pour down so could be a good idea for this?
Charlotte Campbell thnks! Love your videos, your so cute, and light years ahead of me busking. I'm kinda new at busking, I got tired of playing smokey bars for 9 drunk people.lol I've been busking without an amp at all recently and boy is it challenging! I have a street cube on layaway. Hope to be amplified soon! Thnks love! I subbed ya ;)
Hi, great video! Maybe someone already asked this, but what Bose is that? I'm looking into something beefier than the cube street, and that seems perfect. thanks!
Hey Charlotte! Thanks so much this it's so so helpful, I've just started using a golf caddy battery - things seems to keep getting heavier and heavier! Can I ask, how easy is it to ride your bike/trailer round London with your stuff in tact? I want to take my piano out with me but I'm nervous about negotiating the roads round London with all that stuff!
+Poppy WS hey! Really glad you found it helpful! To be honest, it’s not that easy riding around London. I really don’t cycle far as I keep my stuff in storage close (ish) to my usual pitch, so it’s really just to get it there and back which was enough of a struggle for me! It is about a 20 minute walk each way (less than 10 minutes on my bike!) but I’m a very nervous cycler, I think any further I’d be very anxious about aggressive London drivers - especially the taxis - they HATE ME! So I’d think hard about how far you’re travelling and confident you feel!
Charlotte Campbell I’ve heard it’s ruthless cycling round London, my friend got knocked off and broke his arm! That’s good you’ve found a route though, good on ya! I’ve bought a 2 wheeled trolley where I can pile my stuff up so I’ll see how that goes! Cheers for the reply 🌈
There are some portable power supplies you could check out one of them i found was by flash fish which is about 4 1/2 lbs it has 2 outlets one is a 2 prong hole and the other a 3 prong hole. Has 3 usb ports and has dc outputs. I stumbled upon this on a youtube review because i needed a power supply that was able to give me what i needed for the reason that i just gotten a zoom g3n peddle but later discovered it wasnt battery operated😠. So i found one by energizer which hands down i would go for but its specs showed me otherwise. It said on a full battery that it would only give about 90% of life before recharging im like nope. Now this one by flash fish it can power cell phones laptops bipap machines, multiple items at once as long as it does hit pass the amount of watts it allows. Using it for my peddle it gives me about a week with out charging depending how long i play usually 2 hrs play time. The size of it is about as big as a adults lunch box so yeah its perfectly sized to were its not bulky and wont be in the way.
Yeah it is. When i told my dad about it he got me this for christmas. Then he tried it out and liked it. He was talking about getting one for himself. Only one small flaw about it but still worth it is on the usb when charging your phone or anything, the first 2 usb ports charge phones faster than the 3rd so it will take up at least 2 life bars of the flash fish if you use one of those 2 ports i dont remember the amount of power it puts out the 3 port gives normal power so it will charge slowly. Second thing is when the battery runs down it does take a while to charge i think like 4 maybe 5 hours or so.
@@rudy-dx3vx That's ok though I tend to charge my battery over night so 4/5 hours charging would work for me :) I know what you mean about the USB, my lithium battery has a USB option but I find that if I'm using the T bar it makes the USB port inactive and sometimes even makes my phone battery go down quicker!! So weird! Thanks for the heads up on this, always good to know the options out there for batteries!
Yeah it has 3 usb ports. The 1st 2 ports are Q.C. ports meaning quick charge whuch charges your phone quicker the kast port is a 2.4A, not sure what the A stands for but it charges slower. When the generator runs out of battery you have 3 ways of charging it 1. plug into a wall. 2. Charge it in your car or 3. by solar panel. Which is pretty cool.
Sometimes I do, I have both. This video is about 4 years old now so I have upgraded since then but I use this Bose L1 for some pitches and the Bose S1 if I need to travel on the tube to a gig/busk. The S1 battery lasts about 5 hours x
@@ccampbellmusic cheers Charlotte ...I never ever comsidered busking must be liberating to just be able to sing what the hell you actually want to sing ... If I sang blowers daughter at a gig or something for eg they would either fall asleep or complain...lol...
Hey Charlotte. I know this is an old video of yours now, but I am looking into upgrading my 30w busking amp to something with a bit more guts as my approx 6 year old unit is struggling a bit now and I've always had to push it to almost max volume to be able to busk with it when there's any sort of outside noise. During my researching I came across Bose's S1 Pro portable amp with built in lithium rechargeable battery and reverb. Just wondering if you'd heard about it? Almost what model Bose do you show here and are you still using it?
Hi samatha YES so this video is pretty old and I've actually upgraded now to THAT VERY AMP! IT'S AMAZING. Highly recommend! It's the best of both worlds and youll love it!
@@ccampbellmusic Haha. Great stuff! I've ordered one, but it's currently on backorder. There was a sale, so I got a great deal, but I got in about an hour too late when they'd sold their stock on hand. Will have to keep struggling with what I have for a little while, but hopefully sooner rather than later I will have my new one!
Heather Sweeney hi, I don’t own a street cube but am looking into buying one and I know that it has at least one guitar input and one microphone channel, I don’t know if it has more than that though 😊
I'm curious, what size battery are you using. How did you figure out how big of a battery you needed? I have an HK Audio Lucas Nano 608i on it's way to my house and would love to use it for busking. I have been looking at car batteries, but the lithium batteries seem a better way to go. How long can you play with the battery?
+Kirsten Ray hmm I'm not 100% sure I went off the advice of fellow buskers! But it's a lithium golf buggy battery from a website called golf house and it lasts me 5-6 hours :)
Hey I'm so sorry for this incredibly late reply! I think flying internationally with a lithium battery is a no go and I've heard of other performers trying it and being stopped and having to surrender their battery! That said, I flew last year with the Bose S1 Pro which has a battery inside and it wasn't a problem which I was relieved about! I wouldn't recommend flying with the loose battery as it looks a bit suspicious I guess...
Hi Charlotte! Great video :) Just wondered how long you can run your system on a full charge? Have just upgraded to a Fishman sa220 which is very similar to the Bose L1 so just wondered how long I could run mine for on the same battery?
Thanks for the info.. btw, what power house battery did you buy? They have quite a few options and I'd like enough power to do two 2hr sessions with a 35w amp.
Hi Charlotte. I’m a new sub here. Inspired by your work. :-) passed by in summer at Lnd Eye. Quick ?What is the exact make/ model, spec of lithium bat you use plz hun? Thanks 🙏🏻Dean.
Love this video. You're very real and to the point. Dog purse is a massive plus. I'm about to get the balls to busk after 15 years of music and 30 years of life, so this helped a lot.
Aw thanks Stephen! Good luck with your busking ☺️
Well? How'd it go? (Or did you chicken out?)
Love the video. I use a simular rig with the TC-Helicon Duplicator Vocal Effects Stompbox and a Bose S1-pro. Cheers !!!
This video made me smile :)
+Frank Li aw I'm glad thanks Frank :)
Me2!!! ❤
Best of luck with your playing Steven! I hope you are smashing it and the lockdown restrictions aren't stopping you!
Im going solo from a large Blues band and so it would be great to hear what your set up sounds like.
very cool video, I agree totally with the granny trolly, I use a very similar one (very comfortable)
Fat Hats!
My budget is 70-150 for a vocal amp? Pa or karaoke machine. Please advise
This is really interesting! I currently have a Roland street cube but am thinking of upgrading to the Roland Steet Cube EX, I might have to check out the Bose now!
+Morgan M-James definitely if you're not cutting through on the street cube check it out but I think the cube is a brilliant amp!
I am very impressed that you inverted the golf cart battery!
Brilliant, mate!
Haha thank you!
@@ccampbellmusic awesome thank you!! I'll check that out ☺️
You should look into getting a Ridgid brand tool box on wheels.
QUESTION:
You said your amp doesn't have reverb?
I think the reverb on my Cube Street is just fine.
Whatssup?
Keep up the great work, you get an A+ from an old teacher.

Thank you so much, lovely to hear about your set up and thanks for the words of encouragement! Sending lots of love from london!
🎸🚴🐾 Oh yeah...I forgot to say, I am super proud of you for going busking.
you did great. i have a cruiser bicycle and use it for shopping. amazing how much i can put in the two baskets. front and back.basket.
I love to hear people using their bikes in inventive ways :) awesome!
@@ccampbellmusic instead of using a 300w power inverter and a lithium battery, can you use a power generator... by charging the power generator in house then using that to power your instruments? im new to busking.. and asking.. because im not sure if that can work? i kinda want to know if its possible so then i can do that aswell
This is amazing! im looking forward to starting my busking journey soon :) learned alot, thanks!

Hello there fellow busker! Thanks for the cool update. Nice equipment!
Thanks Ben sorry for my super late reply! Happy busking!
Amazing set up. Love the inverter idea Seb has one in his car which I've had since they were kids and needed to plug in all their chargers. He has a mains subwoofer in the car nowadays. By the way it's a bungee you are using not a cable tie!
Love it Charlotte!
I'm gonna try my hand at busking soon and was looking at various amp options.
This little tutorial really helped!

Glad to help Darren! Good luck! ☺️
What a lovely video. With your happy, engaging presentation, you will go far !!

Awesome set up! I busk myself, and enjoyed watching your evolution, though your upgrades.
Thanks so much Oscar ☺️
Impressive dedication to your craft!
Check the weight limit for the hand carts and wheels before you
use them.

I've got really excited when you mentioned your bike :D
When I got home from London the very first thing my mum asked me was "Have you asked her if she settled on a name for the bike?" Thanks mother. Yes, I'm well, the flight was great andI'm still alive. But I guess your bike is more important than that :'D
+Apfelschiffchen hahahaa your mum is brilliant! you can finally tell her the name!
Your truly amazing Charlotte, keep safe on the bike mind xx
+Vincent Swan thanks Vincent! Will do, always got my helmet on!
Are there cordless options now like battery powered amps?
Ah nice those TC Helicon pedals are always brilliant! Would love to check out more and see what they all do! Happy busking to you too Lee!
Just watching this back as im starting to get into busking again and am considering taking it seriously this time. That is awesome hun, one nice little setup :) I have a roland street cube, great little amp.... Erm, I don't busk, only been learning for 3 years (started late at 35), but it's great to take over my sisters and carry around the flat for practice anywhere :)
+TristanJClaxton it's SUCH a good amp for busking and more as you say :) good luck learning! Wonderful to learn how to make music at any age!
Sooo cute Lottie! Where'd you get the battery and inverter? I need the same to power my Roland drums for street beats.
I got the battery from an online golf store and the inverter on amazon! ☺️
At age 64 l think l am going to start busking for fun. A local busker let’s me do a song or two and it is very well received . How long do you get with your set up each time.
good on you! Enjoy every second and I wish you a world of luck on your busking journey! xx
And I thought buskers travelled light ;) The golf buggy battery is an interesting idea. How long does the charge last?
+Bryan Harrison yeah I picked the golf buggy idea from another busker! It usually does me about 4/5 hours of playing but I've never tried to play longer than that in one day!!
I just needed 10 sec to know that your videos are awesome.... Very good job !! You got a new subscriber in sweden !! Good luck

Hi Ela,, do you have any hum or extra noise problems with the present connection?
love your setup. could you send the link to where i could get the battery and inverter you use
Thanks Anthony! I’ll put a link in the description asap :) I’ve been meaning to do that!!
Great video, was the golf cart battery uber pricey? Online looks like 160 quid. Also which Bose PA did you go for? Thanks a mill.
Many thanks!!
Hey Dirk! So sorry for my late reply! Yes the inverter would definitely power your fender amp, it’s a 300w inverter ☺️
@@ccampbellmusic thank you very very much! You are great

Hola amiga !
Grear information. Was wondering if you could share the data of your bike trailer ? Where to find one & the price ? Gracias
The bike works for me but sometimes it causes more problems than it solves...
i have one question! isnt the bose L1 more than 300 watts? how can you use it if you have an inverter of only 300 watts?
Harry Dila No, the bose L1 is 200 watts. So a 300 watt inverter is sufficient.
Brilliant Video 🇬🇧🏴
I have the new cube Street ex it's light as.
It’s a great amp! Best of luck ☺️
I'm using a Vox cube with reverb for my flute.
Sounds good to me :) I play flute too! D

Thank you for sharing! Really nice video.
Can I ask, does your trolley at 0:38 break when you travel with it?
Hi. How long does the 300w inverter with golf house battery work on bose L1?
5-6 hours usually :)
Thanks

Hi Charlotte
Great video and great solutions.

Hi Richard! My amp is 130 watts and this battery tends to do between 5-6 hours! xx
Thank you Charlotte
Hi, Have only just seen your video, do you still use the same equipment?
Did you consider the Roland Street cube EX?
Or the Bose S1?
Both great units.
Have a happy day and greetings from a Campbell from New Zealand.
Mike.
Hey Mike! Great timing I actually just made an update video about this, check my description for my recent update about using the Bose S1 :) I think its a fantastic amp! Lots of love from a London Campbell! xxx
You got my like with "Wellcome to my video every day". Beautiful!!!
Haha thanks a lot Paulo☺️
My budget is £70-150. Should I get a karaoke machine or a pa. Singing Machine? Ibiza sound pA
The Ibiza sound Pa looks like the best of both worlds when you're looking for a PA /karoke machine! Good luck! xxx
Dog purse.. First time me see. Wow am so impressed by the way you evolved to carry all that stuff.

Hi Charlotte, very informative video thank you so much! Wondering how you connect your inverter to the lithium golf buggy battery?
Did you find out?
@@stephendarwin2154 I didn't sorry.
Did you take the plastic T bar off the battery itself to reveal the red and black posts? There seems to be no obvious way on mine :|
Thanks.
Haha yes it beeps SO loudly it’s HORRID! It does give me a good 4/5 hours though which is pretty good :)
Charlotte Campbell how many amp hours does it say on the battery? Thanks
SOVRA it doesn’t say anything, it’s not really meant for amps it’s a golf buggy battery so it doesn’t have any info about power time for amps :)
Hey Charlotte! Thank you for this great video. :)
Why didn't you go for an AER amp?
Hmm I really couldn't tell you. I just know what I've got and that it works! Sorry to be a bit useless!
No worries, finally I bought the Powerhouse battery like you. :)
I'm still trying to figur out how to connect it to the converter. This part you didn't show...
Charlotte Campbell Hey Charlotte, what's your power inverter? If you could answer me today, that'd be wonderful thanks.
Hi , do you still use the battery and converter ,,which is the make of battery and the name of converter ,,or which s the best to buy. thanks
Hey Stephen! I have all the links in my update video (link in the description!)
@@ccampbellmusic thanks 🙏
@@ccampbellmusic Hey Charlotte, have the Zettle card reader 2 now. Where do i find the repeat pay option? Can't find it. Can you help me? Would be great. Thank you in advance. 🎸👏
@@flybrokati Hi Fly! Sorry for my late reply! So the Repeat Pay option needs to be requested, you just need to contact Zettle and ask for Repeat Pay to be enabled on your account and they'll be able to do that for you within 24 hours! Hope this helps! And best of luck with the Zettle 2 xxxx
what kind of battery do you use? a golf body battery?
A golf buggy battery ☺️ from powerhouse golf the website!
How did you link the the converter to the golf battery ? Did you just tape it together ?
Hey I'm sorry for this incredibly late reply! I need to make an update on this as I got a lot of questions about it but I had to cut the wire from the T Bar and rewire it to connect to the inverter. So I cut the crocodile clips off and connected the red one to the red wire (inside the T Bar cable) and the black to black. And then taped it up! I don't know if that is a great explanation but I hope that makes some sense and you're able to fit it together nicely! xxx
@@ccampbellmusic i actually did exactly that and it works perfectly lol!
How long does your speaker last off the golf battery I want to try this but not sure how much time I’d get out of it
5-6 hours usually x
How do I protect my street cube from sudden rain shower if out in the streets busking? Thnks
I'm looking into something beefier than the cube street, and that seems perfect. thanks!
Hey James :) it’s a Bose Compact L1 PA system. Not battery powered as the video says but it’s reallllllly good. I also recommend the AER amps!
Hi There, cool video. Just wondering what re-chargeable batteries you used with the street cube? also, were they 1.2 or 1.5? thanks :)
Hmmm I bought them from amazon but I can't remember what they were called! Sorry! Any AA rechargeables will work though!
How long did the street cube last you with the rechargable batteries
It varies but I’d say 4 hours or so!
Ohh this is interesting to know thank you! Just had a look at the flash fish it looks amazing! x
Do yo not use the bose s1 now? is it loud enough? How long does battery Last? What is the meaning of life? etc.,
Sometimes I do, I have both.
Hello there. I was wondering, could you share with me the make and model of the lithium battery and inverter you use please?
I also want to know
@@crevisb1969 same ;-;
Could you give spec of the battery, or model number please
Awesome mate ... Thanks
Thank you for watching :)
Will have to keep struggling with what I have for a little while, but hopefully sooner rather than later I will have my new one!
thanks, just wondering does the cube have multiple inputs (eg one for a guitar, one for a mic) or do you need a seperate connector
Heather Sweeney hi, I don’t own a street cube but am looking into buying one and I know that it has at least one guitar input and one microphone channel, I don’t know if it has more than that though 😊
@@LaurenWhit.e thats perfect thanks
Yeah this is correct from Lauren! One for guitar and one for a mic! Xx
Heather Sweeney thank you for clarifying 😊😊
I'm curious, what size battery are you using. How did you figure out how big of a battery you needed? I have an HK Audio Lucas Nano 608i on it's way to my house and would love to use it for busking. I have been looking at car batteries, but the lithium batteries seem a better way to go. How long can you play with the battery?
+Kirsten Ray hmm I'm not 100% sure I went off the advice of fellow buskers! But it's a lithium golf buggy battery from a website called golf house and it lasts me 5-6 hours :)
Awesome.
Thank you for the video
heyyy any idea what to do if ur flying international?
Hey I'm so sorry for this incredibly late reply! I think flying internationally with a lithium battery is a no go and I've heard of other performers trying it and being stopped and having to surrender their battery! That said, I flew last year with the Bose S1 Pro which has a battery inside and it wasn't a problem which I was relieved about! I wouldn't recommend flying with the loose battery as it looks a bit suspicious I guess...
Thanks!
Hi Charlotte!
Great video :)
Just wondered how long you can run your system on a full charge?
Have just upgraded to a Fishman sa220 which is very similar to the Bose L1 so just wondered how long I could run mine for on the same battery?
+Felix Simpson the only time I’ve ever fully run my power down was when I went over 5 hours but it was practically 6 hours so pretty good I think!
Charlotte Campbell wonderful thank you for the info hope to catch you playing sometime!
Thanks for the info.. btw, what power house battery did you buy? They have quite a few options and I'd like enough power to do two 2hr sessions with a 35w amp.
I bought the one that was £149! It does me about 5 hours usually!
can you link that inverter please
+James O it’s the standard 300w inverter sold at Maplin in the uk :) link now in the description!
What was the name of the battery?
