I saw this in theatres and during the whole climbing on the dresser scene this guy stood up yelled out "F**k this! That's a f**kin banshee!!! IM OUT!" Best theatre experience of my life.
I remember being 10yrs old and I was sleeping in the same room as my older brother and he had his girlfriend staying for the night, he had not watching anything horror related that night, he woke up at 3:00 AM screaming at the top of his lungs while looking straight across the room at me so I didn’t know what else to do other than scream just as loud as he was, turns out he was having a night terror, to this day it still gives me chills thinking about it💀

Can you refresh that scene in my mind? While The Conjuring is my favorite horror movie to date, The Conjuring 2 left a stale, and forgetful taste. While I can remember The Conjuring perfectly, the second one is like a blurr in my mind. The nun was great, but that was about it.
I believe they’re referencing the scene where Lorraine has the vision of the nun in her home. It appears at the end of the hallway and she follows it into a room where Ed’s painting of the Nun is hanging up.
James Wan is just a genius...the camera work is just perfect, the tension never let go and the atmosphere is amazing ! Usually in a horror movie, you have fake jump scare that deflate the tension...Not here ! No fake jump scare, no cheating, meaning the tension stay the same...Simple but effective !
From the Saw franchise to Dead Silence to Conjuring and Insidious, and even Invisible Man and Aquaman, Wan and Whanell are great on their own and phenomenal together!!

The Conjuring brought a whole genre of horror back to life, the possession ghost genre ! Big change, put them in the past to remove the technology or cellphone factor. Before it and Insidious, the dominant horror genre was torture porn and found footage. Now it's that genre and the psychological horror that is predominant like Hereditary or Midsommar...
And the craziest part about that is James Wan directed the first Saw, the first two Insidious films and the first two Conjuring films. That man is a horror *master*
I've been to the Warren's Occult Museum and saw the doll and everything. I felt something swipe at me from a conjuring mirror and Tony Spera rushed me out of there. One of the daughters in the story, Andrea Perron, wrote a book of the full experience growing up there. Apparently they had to tone it down for the movie so they could get an R rating. Her book is "House of Light, House of Darkness" and it gets a lot crazier than the movie.
I know nikki gets very emotional and is very expressive with her emotions. But god damn I am glad you guys did react to this movie. Steven I know what you meant when you said your arms were ready. I am in tears from laughing listening to Nikki swearing her heart out lol.

When I was young me and my sister shared a bedroom. Our parents had just moved us into a new place. We would see the bedroom doorknob turn, heard voices, heard knocks on the door outside late at night. My legs were held down in bed one night. We heard a knocking in our closet, heard a woman and man speaking in German like they were having a conversation. It was crazy stuff, we'd stay up all night with the lights on. I saw a "ghost" one morning outside, another time in broad daylight me and mom both saw one walk right by the window outside. We ran outside and nobody was around. When I was married I heard a knocking on the front door, it knocked 3 times, nobody was there. I saw a shadow figure run thru the hallway from one room to the kitchen on another occassion. Nearly all of us in my family have witnessed something.
My late Grandfather knew the Warren’s very well. They were penpals of sorts for decades before meeting face to face many times in the 70’s and 80’s. He said that they over exaggerated the minor incidents and greatly downplayed the major incidents. He told me that they feared that if people knew the full story of the true horrors they’d faced that it would bring these innocent people to the attention of things of true malevolence. He thought there was a certain safety in ignorance. They only told the tales they thought were safe to hear (a terrifying thought) and that could earn a bit of coin to fund the rest of their work. Thats just what he told me.

You notice how most haunting cases are from the east coast. A lot of historical documentation of cursed Indian burial grounds, haunted mansions, demon possession/and witchcraft. It's a scary place

If you haven't seen the movie Sinister, I would recommend...Has an incredible sound design and is one of only a few horrors over the last 10 years that has stayed with me. Scott Derrickson of Doctor Strange and The Exorcism of Emily Rose fame directed the shit outta this and just the very first image sets the tone perfectly~!
@@alakesbrahms806 This is my personal opinion, agree to disagree. When I saw this movie, I had just saw The Conjuring with my buddy Dan. We were somewhere in middle school when this happened. The Conjuring scared the absolute shit out of both of us. Gave me straight chills to my spine. I absolutely loved that feeling I got from that movie. We decided to then watch Sinster about a month later together. I love the concept of this movie, don't get me wrong. I just feel like it was horribly executed. When we finished the movie, I felt absolutely nothing. I was never scared. I never got chills. Remind you, this was back in middle school. I use to be traumatized by these kind of films. I once saw a trailer for the movie "mama" as a kid and it haunted me for 3 years straight. The conujuring was amazing and delivered. The Sinister didn't deliver anything for me, and left me with nothing to really remember about it other than the films and tree. The Sinister was not a scary movie imo, it was horribly executed. But hey, that's just me. Maybe I need to rewatch it as an adult, but if my former child self didn't get scared I don't see a point. I was a fucking chicken back then, and I love the feeling of those chills. The Conjuring had so much atmosphere to it aswell. Never felt any of that. The cheap jumpscare at the end just added salt to my veins aswell. Fuck that ending. Overall, I was expecting a horror movie to give me chills. Instead, I was left with an empty basket. It lacked atmosphere mostly, and was easily predictable. I found the main plot interesting, but it fell flat along with everything else towards the end. Fuck it im rewatching it
This and the second Conjuring movie are two of my favorite horror movies. (I haven't seen the new one yet) The scares are great, the acting is amazing and Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have such good chemistry that I want to see them in everything together.
Fun fact: everything in this movie is accurate except he ending the real ending was when they perform the Exorcist they pull the demon out but something went wrong during the performance and the demon was was released in the air and the husband had a enough of it so he kicked the Warans out the house and the family was never heard again
The family that went through that, went through way worst than the movie showed The oldest sister did several interviews on what took place,they couldn't move right away because they didn't have the funds.
When I see threatening wall writing in horror movies, I can't help but giggle at the thought of a giant, red, scary demon, crayon on paw, just scribbling scary notes and waiting to see the people's reactions 🤣

It's easier with company, I watched insidious when it first came out in my bedroom alone on my laptob at 2 am with headphones on and the lights off, and I can't remember which scene it was exactly but I fuckin threw the laptop across the room, shouted, turned on the lights and woke everyone up in my house, never doing that again 😂
The Conjuring films tend to be dramas involving families and the Warren' family with a bridging horror story between. I love Vera and Patrick as Lorraine and Ed Warren, they do it so well.
Drinking game: one sip everytime Nikki says "no" a shot everytime she says "fuck(ing)" Edit: I'm 3 minutes in, don't play that game you'll probably die.
Another great "based on a true story" movie is The Exorcism of Emily Rose, starring Jennifer Carpenter who was fantastic in it. Really, really scary!!!

One of the horror movies that is more than a horror movie , it was well written , amazing directing , amazing acting A masterpiece like the shining , hereditary, the Exorcist and psycho This should have been nominated for Oscars

Genuinely this is the movie that made me do research into the Warenns. I love this movie so much. I've always been into the paranormal and I never knew of the Warenns until this movie. But reading through their literature is honestly amazing. Even if you don't believe in this sort of thing, it's a great read.

goes like this 'based on true events' yeah somewhat, their are people who back them and say the experiences are real but then there are folks who call them con artists, you always have to research (info is out there) but honestly it's what you believe, there is a lot explained and a lot not explained. that's why some are conflicted when it comes to them.
I just saw an interview with the oldest daughter. She wrote a book about her experiences. She said it was way worse then the movie. She seemed credible but you're right you never know.
This reaction was hilarious!!! I remember the first time i saw it i thought it was so good. I grew up in a haunted house and it was some of the most miserable/best moments of my childhood. Glad you guys finally saw it!
also fun fact: the people who this happened to and the real life lorraine warren (rip) said this movie was super accurate and they left out a lot of even terrorizing scary moments because it was too intense for audiences.
I love the ones where Nikki has had her wine quota prior to watching. See John Wick movies for reference. Also a fun game to play is a drinking game where every time she says “bitch” you take a drink.
The best way to not get scared by watching horror movies is by thinking that you yourself are Madara Uchiha and the Ghost or Demon is just a low level Shinobi who relies on stealth because in a face to face, you would destroy them.
This is one of my favourite horrors, next to The Exorcist, Insidious, Sinister (most disturbing) , and The Nun…which you should really watch if you're committing to the Conjuring films.
That intro with the text scrolling over you guys was great! Edit: Yeah, this movie is scary and tense but it's also really well made and awesome. The jumpscares feel earned and there's rarely a cheap scare. I love it. Edit: i wrote that just before Steve said basically the same hahaha

This film sets the gold standard for a quality, actually scary horror film. Not many out that can stand up to it.

I absolutely hated Sinister. I thought it was one of the worst, new modern horror movies.

@@alakesbrahms806 This is my personal opinion, agree to disagree. When I saw this movie, I had just saw The Conjuring with my buddy Dan. We were somewhere in middle school when this happened. The Conjuring scared the absolute shit out of both of us. Gave me straight chills to my spine. I absolutely loved that feeling I got from that movie. We decided to then watch Sinster about a month later together. I love the concept of this movie, don't get me wrong. I just feel like it was horribly executed. When we finished the movie, I felt absolutely nothing. I was never scared. I never got chills. Remind you, this was back in middle school. I use to be traumatized by these kind of films. I once saw a trailer for the movie "mama" as a kid and it haunted me for 3 years straight. The conujuring was amazing and delivered. The Sinister didn't deliver anything for me, and left me with nothing to really remember about it other than the films and tree. The Sinister was not a scary movie imo, it was horribly executed. But hey, that's just me. Maybe I need to rewatch it as an adult, but if my former child self didn't get scared I don't see a point. I was a fucking chicken back then, and I love the feeling of those chills. The Conjuring had so much atmosphere to it aswell. Never felt any of that. The cheap jumpscare at the end just added salt to my veins aswell. Fuck that ending.
Overall, I was expecting a horror movie to give me chills. Instead, I was left with an empty basket. It lacked atmosphere mostly, and was easily predictable. I found the main plot interesting, but it fell flat along with everything else towards the end. Fuck it im rewatching it

This and the second Conjuring movie are two of my favorite horror movies. (I haven't seen the new one yet) The scares are great, the acting is amazing and Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have such good chemistry that I want to see them in everything together.
The real Annabelle doll is a raggedy Ann doll. Which kinda makes it creepier haha

Exorcist they pull the demon out but something went wrong during the performance and the demon was was released in the air and the husband had a enough of it so he kicked the Warans out the house and the family was never heard again

The family that went through that, went through way worst than the movie showed The oldest sister did several interviews on what took place,they couldn't move right away because they didn't have the funds.
The Conjuring Universe films are similar to the MCU films in the sense that they're all connected, a few of the films have end credit scenes too.
Just imagine if James Wan and Jordan Peele did a film together

It's easier with company, I watched insidious when it first came out in my bedroom alone on my laptob at 2 am with headphones on and the lights off, and I can't remember which scene it was exactly but I fuckin threw the laptop across the room, shouted, turned on the lights and woke everyone up in my house, never doing that again 😂
The Conjuring films tend to be dramas involving families and the Warren' family with a bridging horror story between. I love Vera and Patrick as Lorraine and Ed Warren, they do it so well.

Genuinely this is the movie that made me do research into the Warenns. I love this movie so much. I've always been into the paranormal and I never knew of the Warenns until this movie. But reading through their literature is honestly amazing. Even if you don't believe in this sort of thing, it's a great read.
Brother said it in the very beginning: "Better make sure my arm is ready..." I knew exactly what he meant.

goes like this 'based on true events' yeah somewhat, their are people who back them and say the experiences are real but then there are folks who call them con artists, you always have to research (info is out there) but honestly it's what you believe, there is a lot explained and a lot not explained. that's why some are conflicted when it comes to them.
I just saw an interview with the oldest daughter. She wrote a book about her experiences. She said it was way worse then the movie. She seemed credible but you're right you never know.
This reaction was hilarious!!! I remember the first time i saw it i thought it was so good. I grew up in a haunted house and it was some of the most miserable/best moments of my childhood. Glad you guys finally saw it!
also fun fact: the people who this happened to and the real life lorraine warren (rip) said this movie was super accurate and they left out a lot of even terrorizing scary moments because it was too intense for audiences.

The best way to not get scared by watching horror movies is by thinking that you yourself are Madara Uchiha and the Ghost or Demon is just a low level Shinobi who relies on stealth because in a face to face, you would destroy them.
This is one of my favourite horrors, next to The Exorcist, Insidious, Sinister (most disturbing) , and The Nun…which you should really watch if you're committing to the Conjuring films.
