Really good video..!! Was burned back in 2005 and flown by chopper to 'Augusta Burn Center' where the good folks there saved My life,,.. They had the 'Masters' going on there an there was a small engine airplane that had to make an emergency landing on Washington..!! Thank goodness that no one was hurt..!!
Okay, so I'am moving to Augusta, mid September, and I was wonder what is the city like.. Oh, and what about Hertiage Apartments.. Please inform me ASAP!
@Freewayjim The track you saw is still used. I've had to wait for that train at least 3 times in the last year, and I don't even go downtown very often. It acutally crosses over the Savannah River.
@Freewayjim I was guessing that track probably wasn't in use anymore. If it was somehow still in use, it would be very interesting, since so few cities still have active 'street-running' for trains anymore.
I visited Aiken, SC last year. I was very fortunate to watch "Wheel of Fortune" during a hotel stay, watching it on channel 12 (WRDW-TV, CBS in Augusta). Good video!
Nice video and awesome music! Hamilton, OH's "Main Street" on the east side of the Great Miami River is High Street. Also, at the end, you put "Produced By FreewayJim". Did your son come or not?
Thank you very much for the kind words, I never thought of it that way before regarding the cultural and historical record record of the roads and places but you are correct, pretty cool! Thanks for watching.
@Freewayjim Thanks, I'll have that in mind for my future videos. I wonder if you mounted the camera, with the left/right tripod legs outside the middle part, where you put the car in Drive, Reverse, Low-Gear, 2nd Gear, Park, etc., with the middle leg down to that part of the front car.
sincere THANKS!, @Freewayjim, your hours & hours of work in producing these "insiders'" views' of various cities and routes is a Godsend. I am one of many who want to say thanks! and keep up the great work. This is a fantastic resource for thousands of people. Did you know that you were also adding to a historical and cultural record of these roads and places? Awesome!
It is state law in Georgia to have your headlights on when raining or fog. Newer cars have running lights, lights that are illuminated while running or driving. Most older models don't. And on sunny days like this on, you can run the risk of forgetting to turn the headlights off manually and run the battery down. I know I have a time or too.Great video, Jim! And I live here!
@MrMarkingston Yes, of course there is! how else do all the bluebloods who play Augusta National come and go? :) For the record it's a bit outside the city, south of I-520 off GA-56.
The best pitstop I've had for a road trip, we ended up staying here for 3 nights. Washington rd off the 20, waffle house, the twin peaks, lake thurmond, the motel 6 and the friendliest people in the world.
@FreewayAndrew - All my tripod legs are on the passenger side floorboard, I have it just right wether anyone is with me or if I'm filming solo, If you have the right kind of tripod this works perfectly.
@bokkey45 I bet Jim filmed Savannah, as well as Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, and Jacksonville, FL that weekend as well, so he may be editing a bunch of footage. :)
@Tomahawkin17 most of Atlanta's streets were never really like that though - Atl was a railroad outpost when Savannah and Augusta were booming. Though Marietta St in downtown kinda reminds me of Broad, without the trees. Not sure about this comment though - yes there are lots of skyscrapers in CBDs, but what about the other 129 sq mi in Atlanta, most of which make up one of the lowest density cities in America? Atlanta has more breathing room than most cities, and more than most people realize.
The Krispy Kreme you see on the right when the video starts is the same one where Phil Mickelson went through the drive-thru wearing his green jacket after winning the Masters in 2010. Also, as the driver crosses 10th Street downtwon, you can catch a glimpse of Cobb House Apartments on the left, which were built and owned by legendary baseball player Ty Cobb.
Loved this video. Sitting here watching streets and landmarks that I grew up around before leaving in 1998. Such a beautiful city. You really appreciate where you were born after watching this video. Thanks Again!
Thank you! If you look at my other videos you'll see the reason, I film drives and places I think are interesting....I have a camera mounted on a tripod setup in the front seat, passenger side that works pretty well, there is a video of it as well.
@FreewayAndrew It's not hard at all, getting the camera set right is the biggest challenge (I find a level parking lot or space for this) but once it's set all I have to to is reach over to turn it on and press/stop the record button...I have a remote so I could use that if I wanted to, but just as easy to reach over and press the buttons. I'm also usually photographing the routes I film so it's multi-tasking to the max :)
Nice video. For some reason I thought Augusta had a bigger skyline than that. That said, it looks like a pretty nice small-ish city. I like that expressway into downtown too.
Nice Video and Love that version of Summer Breeze...That song was so good it has been sampled numerous times by many Genres of music... I love the wide streets of the old south, I'd wish they bring those back especially here in Atlanta instead of Jamming up High Rise Condo's with little or no breathing room...
Brayla Fountain What is Augusta GA popluation in just the city not counting the rest of Richmond country I'm guessing around 80,000 I lived there as a kid and through out my teen year off and on with my mom with my Dad being back here in Hamilton OH which has a population of 60.000 I basically grown in both places Augusta is definitely the bigger of 2 city's but it doesn't seem like it's that much bigger with popluation of 196,000 that's like 4 time the size of Hamilton so if you could give me the info I'd greatly appreciate it thank you
@murallesdominic2: You know, I'm good for a typo here and there, please watch the rest of my videos and I'm CERTAIN you'll find a few more. I don't understand how some people can watch, and I assume enjoy a 5-6 minute video that took hours to make and then comment on an unintentional typo, really? feel better now?
Just stumbled upon your videos and I'm really impressed!! Entertaining and informative, I will be watching whether I'm planning a trip or not. I especially like seeing places I've traveled and it great that you give historical tips along the way, too! Totally cool, thanks for sharing your work...much appreciated!
Great vid and great music.I listen to jazz all of the time. However,I am not familiar with Bob Baldwin.I drove through Augusta about 15 years ago. But I think I saw more attractions on your short video. Thanks
What a great tour of the Azalea City! The last time I visited Augusta was to go to The Master's. And I really can't wait to get back there. I'm curious...How did you go about filming this video of Augusta's roads and what the reason? The quality is great.
The developers who create this kind of sprawl and blight should all be thrown in prison for a very long time. It's impossible to overestimate the extent to which they've managed to destroy quality of life in America for several generations.

what sort of cammera was used, the quality of the video is superb. I'd also be interested to know what sort of window mount the camera was on.
@VaFreeways -Thanks. The skyline looks a little bigger if you are looking down the hill from where I-520 is on the SC side of the river.
Reminds me of Greensboro NC.

Reminds me quite a bit of my city. (Flint, MI)
Augusta isn't falling apart at the seams, of course. =)
@WVBoy25401 Yessir! Augusta is a little different than Atlanta climate-wise to the point they can survive there.
Thank you!
Going for a drive is awesome!😎
@Tomahawkin17 -I'm a big fan of the Isley Bothers version of that song, thought about using it for this video.
I visited Aiken, SC last year. I was very fortunate to watch "Wheel of Fortune" during a hotel stay, watching it on channel 12 (WRDW-TV, CBS in Augusta). Good video!
Nice ride. Thanks for the tour of Augusta. BTW, was it as hot up there as it was down here on the GA coast?
@Trekker1801 Thanks!

I live here and drive this route almost daily!
I do too
i live in augusta and go those places all the time!!!!
Thank you very much for the kind words, I never thought of it that way before regarding the cultural and historical record record of the roads and places but you are correct, pretty cool! Thanks for watching.
i was looking for the other video but idk youtube restricted it jim
Where was downtown...the big tall buildings?
Augusta is a small city, it doesn't have big tall buildings
Thanks for watching and welcome aboard! Right now I'm in the process of posting videos from my summer trip in June in and around the northeast.
@Bryant5493 Don't forget Columbus, OH. It's got a Broad Street (US-40 and OH-16)
As a native of Augusta. Damn good vid.
knowing these streets, it's a lil scary watching his fast forwarded driving.

Once again, B-E-A-Utiful choice of music. You never stop amazing me.
Love my home town especially when I'm away
@0marigolds -Thank you for the kind words :)
it was a fun drive and a fun video to put together.
Jim, thanks for taking me back. My cousins used to play in the old viaduct. UB
@necroslair Thanks, yes it was very hot in Augusta s well as Charleston and really hot in JAX on the following day.
@uptownbronze You're welcome, that's a neat old structure.
@Bryant5493 Thanks Bryant. Never thought of that...I know there are Broad Streets in Columbia & Charleston too that are de facto "Main Streets".
can u film savannah?
If you can manage to get practice round tickets to the masters you should check it out, it truly is a slice of heaven.
@Freewayjim How can you film videos solo?
@integgy95 Thank you! I have enough material, plus with what I have coming up later this month that there will be a steady supply for a while :)
Can you go to James Brown home,thanks
@FreewayAndrew Indeed!
@Intrepidity You correct, we don't. Although in many states (GA included) it is a law to have your lights on when raining.

This obviously wasn't during Masters week.

Aaron C. Good to know I’m might be moving there for a year for work from Canada:) no more snow
@bokkey45 I have a Savannah video on here and I filmed a little bit on this trip that I have not started working on yet before the rains came.
LAST Thursday 20th 16th
@prfsnlwannabe -Thanks! It's a nice little city. Yes that is a RR Track at 4:25 although I'm betting it has not been used in years, maybe decades.
Thanks! I enjoyed putting this one together.

love it
You should do an update on Augusta. There's been a huge transformation of the city.
Loved this video. Sitting here watching streets and landmarks that I grew up around before leaving in 1998. Such a beautiful city. You really appreciate where you were born after watching this video. Thanks Again!

@prfsnlwannabe -I noticed those Wendy's signs too, I do not recall ever seeing anything like that before.
Tight work. Nice mellow music good job.

LAST Thursday 20 16 T
@patrick560sl Thanks Patrick, much appreciated.
I dislike Augusta, but at the end of the day, there's no place like home!💜
@learrell Thank you!
@FreewayAndrew -My son was not with me on that day, I did those solo :)

5:17 It's certain, not certian.
@dontrell1986 I don't live in Augusta so I don't know, maybe somebody else eher can help.

Augusta ga. just ain't no place to be.
That was awesome FJ keep 'em coming
who really cares? we understood what he meant troll
Get out of the car and show the real city and a people . Your driving on road don,t show much.
You obviously don't understand what this channel is about.
