We have those latch/locks on our gates to keep our farm animals in. To prevent the latch from moving off the post use a carabiner to keep it in place. 😊
Bought mine at Costco last October and it sat in my garage all winter. Just installed it now. No warping and skylight is functioning as designed. Ran electric into foundation before assembly of the structure. Time to grow!!!
I bought this at Costco last week, and had them load it into my GMC Yukon XL SUV, and it just fit. Each box weighs 215 lbs. I unloaded it myself by taking off the box lid and laying it onto my garage floor. Then I took each piece out and using the instruction manual, inventoried it to be sure all the pieces were there. I then carefully stacked everything onto the box lid. Did the same with box #2. Unlike this woman, I was fortunate that only one of my boards was slightly warped. As far as putting electricity inside this unit, simply run it underground and into the unit. If you put it on a slab, you can run your conduit to the outside, drill and install a conduit body, then pull the wire into the unit. That’s what I’m going to do. I built a perimeter foundation out of pressure treated 4x4’s. Make real sure you level and plumb your foundation. I agree that another person is necessary to build this. My sister and I built it in one day. I’m a contractor, so for me it was relatively easy, just tedious. My complaint is, they did not supply enough dust tape or silicone sealant. This woman should have contacted Yardistry, and requested a replacement door and vent hatch. For the amount I paid for this thing, you can bet I certainly would have.
Carolyn thank you for watching and commenting!! We did call yardistry immediately. They sent replacement parts which arrived over a week later causing us big delays. They were in worse condition than the original so we had to make it work on our own. Happy growing I sure hope you love it!
Same here. My Chevy Colorado was squatted down pretty good! And none of the boards in mine were warped. But maybe it depends on where you live (altitude... humidity...etc).
We just put ours together. I was geared up and ready for it to be difficult and my husband to lose his religion putting it together. He is very mechanically inclined, just seems like these days quality is lacking. My friend also purchased one and they had some similar issues putting as the channel host. I will have to say that we must have gotten the good batch because we didn't have any of these issues. It sounds like she got a bum set ,but kudos to her husband because they have made it work. I sincerely appreciate all the tips and I will put these into action.
I commend you, Leigh, for the candid and excellent job reviewing this set-up. It looks very nice and I am just now researching the purchase of a greenhouse of my own. Thank you for the info and great job of features/benefits, pros/cons.
I've been stalking the fabulous staff at my Costco for a couple weeks. They got it in last night and I went this morning, got a $29 truck from Home Depot, and picked it up. Super excited to start building it this weekend. It looks like you set up a really nice foundation with gravel and paver bricks.
Thank you for watching! Good luck and enjoy! Please view our greenhouse Playlist. There are videos from pre order, foundation, leveling, base build, greenhouse assembly and putting in the paver floor during an amazing sunset!! Please enjoy!!!
We completed the assembly of our Yardistry Greenhouse (purchased through Costco on sale for $1199 in September 2023). Leigh has done a fair review of the structure and it's pros and cons. I would have liked to see a second vent on the opposite side of the greenhouse so I could run a far to either exhaust or pull in air. We had enough warp (sadly) in the door to pull through a 14-guage electric cord. I have a 1500W Bio-Green Palma heater that I have just now started using, so I cannot comment on whether it will be adequate. My door is warped enough top to bootom that I may put a bolt at the top to decrease the gap and thus the loss of warmth overnight. Along with the lack of a second vent, I would have liked" The long lower shelf to be 20" vs only 16", A Dutch-door (many owners have modified their Yardistry door and said it is an easy mod). Thicker mm poly panels. Having looked at many, MANY options - including building with found materials, metal-frame structures, grow tunnels, we concluded this is the best for us to initially get into a greenhouse. We are in zone 8b and will use this mostly for extending the growing season as opposed to intensive year-round vegetable production.
Thank you, great comments here. I agree 100%. We ended up putting a bolt at the bottom it helped some. I'll have to look up the heater you mention. We did a 1 yr review also. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy growing!
We just finished our Yardistry greenhouse yesterday. I watched your review prior to buying it, and I can say that this review is spot-on. The door latch can very easily lock you in (my wife installed an elastic band to keep it from doing so), our door is warped the same way, and our roof vent ended up sticking until I was able to force it more into the middle of the frame (it works fine now, but opens at cool temps in my opinion). That being said, we love our greenhouse. Thanks for the review and for the other videos!
Thank you for watching and commenting on your experience. I'm loving the manual hinge roof latch that we added for more control during bad weather. Issues aside... I also LOVE this little greenhouse! I'm learning to work with its quirks and temperature variation in the space. I recommend several thermometers 1 high and 1 low. Happy Growing and good luck!!
@@ourbackyardgarden Hello again -- this evening I discovered an easy solution for my wayward latch. I put a magnet just inside of the left hand "ear" of the latch bracket so that the loop of the sliding latch gets stuck there while the latch is open. This seems to keep it from sliding around and accidently locking the door. No guarantees, however, if the door shuts hard enough to pop it off.
@@xt250rides8 hmmm...I have magnets I'm going to try it!!! I hope you added the long screws through the bottom base to base like we showed. We had a tornado go through. She didn't budge thank God.
Thank you! We have an entire Playlist for the construction, the foundation, and base that might help you!! Thank you for watching!! Good luck I hope you love it!
I have a home built greenhouse with a screen door that had a latch hook on the outside. One day it blew shut and the latch hook went into the eye. I was locked in. I managed to wiggle it enough to bounce it out. It happened one more time. After that I put the "eye" above the latch hook. That did the trick and I never got locked in again.
Thanks for watching and commenting! It really isn't bad for the price, based on everything we reviewed. Please look at our Playlist. We cover a lot during the series and it's helpful to see what we encountered. Also, the foundation and base set up is useful for any structure! There are videos for that in the Playlist.
We are assembling ours now. Got the front panel done last night. One thing we noticed is that it has to be VERY square or issues will arise. We took apart and redid multiple times on certain pieces to make sure we were perfectly flush/square. Not a project that you can just 'whip through'. I love your floor/base!
Hi there!!! Thank you for commenting and watching. We sure hope it helped. But yeah, we realized quickly this structure needs to be flat!! We are enjoying it though, and expanding the area as a garden destination! We hope you will stay tuned!! I hope you love the greenhouse, happy growing!!
Hi nick thanks for watching. It's so scary to get locked in! I've been very careful to tie it off before I go in and have a phone at all times. I also have to tie it off from the inside to prevent the wind from swinging it open.
@@ourbackyardgarden oh wow that is surprising he didn't build a base as he is very handy. I don't have Instagram I just saw his UA-cam short video announcing he bought it.
My typical base, leveling (digging/filling), compact with plate vibrator, 3.5" concrete with rebars. This time trying something new, no digging, no compacting, no digging, no concrete. We'll see how it goes in a few years but so far so good.
We didn't have to dig. But because we built on a swale we had to seriously raise and retain. Driving the rebar I to the foundation base I opposing directions really did great. The greenhouse base then had a nice surface for deep deck screws and hurricane ties.
We're having the same issues with the auto vent opener. I do like your "fix". I'm having a hard time finding the one you show in your video. Could you supply a link please? Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching we are happy to help. I'll attach the link here. amzn.to/4ca4gFu. I have more peace of mind. I do work from home so I can manage it through the day. Super easy to attach and use!
Is this a good green house for a cold/windy climate in North Dakota? We get a lot of snow and high winds in the winter -- not sure if this material is sturdy/resistant enough to withstand the harsh winters. Any input on this would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Thank you for watching! Here's my honest thoughts on your question. Here in nj, we haven't seen too much snow lately. But our situation is, our yard is a micro climate. Snow melts rapidly. Since we installed this in the fall, we had zero snow to speak on. It does however leak when it rains. We do get high wind though. We have a Playlist of the construction and base build. I will say, the foundation and base are key to this structure living through wind. The structure has held up well so far. I honestly will be happy if I get 10 years out of it. To grow in it all winter would request a small heater though. I sure hope that helps!
Yes it was very informative and touched on many things I never thought about. I’m just starting my search for a greenhouse and this was a great first step.
@@singinggardener if it's in your budget and ability to assemble please consider little cottage company as well with walls of working windows. And if in your region lapp structures delivers fully assembled.
I love this video, it is definitely the most informative for this greenhouse. Thank you! What are the measurements of the open space on your left side? It is the only information I cannot find online. I'm assuming it is about 16" deep, but how long (from the door to the shelf) and tall is it before the roof arches? I am trying to figure out if I can fit a certain shelf in there. Thank you!
Hi melinda thanks for watching ❤ it is about 16 or 17 inches. A 1020 tray will slightly hang off on its long end while on the shelf. Sidewalls are about 6ft before arching up!
@@ourbackyardgarden thank you!! About how big is the open space though? I'm wanting to put a big shelf in the open area on the side but am not sure how long that section is. I can't find those measurements anywhere.
It's not bad for the price but if you can build it and customize it, that's better. Little cottage company has a model with 3 walls of working windows. I wish I got that one.
Hi Neighbor! I'm in Burlington County and just finished building my greenhouse. Definitely appreciate seeing a local review of how it'll stand up after a couple of years. Could you share the link for the vent window opener you installed? I'd like to manually operate it rather than use the automatic opener.
This little handle works out great. The vent swells and it has to be forced open. For us, if we were counting on the auto vent it would have failed. Good luck and thanks for joining us!
Thank you for your review. I was scrolling through the comments to see if you posted a link for the skylight vent manual opener handle you switched to as I’m going to do the same. Definitely a small world as I’m in Burlington County as well. Thank you so much for posting this.
Oh wow, I guess I got lucky with mine. I actually watched y’all’s video on making the base to see if I thought I could do that part by myself, then went ahead and got it from the floor of my local Costco at just under $1300 I think it was. I just clicked on this to see your thoughts, wasn’t aware it had been such a headache to get it in! I built mine by myself, as the first structure I ever built from top to bottom. The only thing I needed help with was to lift the back and front walls from where I had built them to where I needed to install them. My only previous building experience is a handful of raised garden beds and a garden fence. I will say that a large work area was super helpful for assembly, I put mine together in an emptied out two car garage and that made assembly way smoother, I think. I basically used the level floor of the garage, rather than trying to bother with work tables. There was some crawling around required haha. I didn’t have your warped wood issues for the most part, only really noticed some on the boards that made up the shelf tops actually. My vent opens fine, and is actually my favorite feature of the greenhouse. As for getting locked in, the first thing I bought for the greenhouse was a lock, not to secure anything important inside, but to lock it in the open position while I’m inside. Like you experienced, I was worried about getting trapped inside. I also purchased a door chain type lock to close the door while I’m inside if I don’t want to be interrupted, haha. I followed your approach to the base and love it, had to dig it in a little bc the site I chose was ever so slightly sloped. My only complaint so far is that the vent is not water tight so when it rains while I am in the greenhouse, even when the vent is shut, I get rained on. I do plan on keeping a tub of water inside the greenhouse for convenience, bc as you said there is no built in way to thread in a hose. Luckily my chosen site is near enough to a water source I can run a hose into the bucket when it gets low. I don’t know, I have lots of ideas for ways to use the space and it’s super exciting to think about the potential a structure like this has. Hopefully once your frustration with the issues wears off, you will also get excited about having it. (It seems you are partially there already, since you recommend it with understandable caveats. I’m also glad that Costco helped make it right, even though it sounds like they didn’t have to and it was really on Yardistry to step up.)
Thanks so much for watching and offering this input! We are doing our best with this cute little structure for sure. But I'm so happy to hear it was easier for you! It will encourage others to keep an open mind and hopefully learn to garden! Thanks so much!
Thank you for watching and commenting. We did 2 more reviews on this in our Playlist! All dedicated to this structure. We learned a lot about what any greenhouse requires! My last video was recent, please check it out. I think you will find a lot of points in there and you will see how it weathered after 2 winters!
Thanks for sharing and good luck with your new purchase. I saw this in my Costco this morning and I wasn’t impressed. Happy Gardening from a fellow gardener at the Jersey Shore !
Wow, you had a lot of problems, Leigh. Other than the vent being a bit off and needing some work, everything else worked well in our greenhouse. That automatic vent is probably the best feature I like about the Greenhouse, opens like magic when temps start to warm up. Bummer that it did not work for you. Our door works perfectly too, closes nicely, I did not need that chain at the top. Hmmm. So sorry you had all those issues. Glad Yardistry and Costco were responsive.
Hi Tara. We really did have our share with this. After all of our struggles they kept telling us we could take it apart and return it. We were patient waiting for parts. It literally took weeks! I'm must happy that's behind d us now. I dont really mind opening the vent every day manually.

@@teresagardenhire8424 I had the exact same thoughts! I was so happy to find this channel!! Did you get the greenhouse? How has your gardening journey been?
Have you had to go through a winter with it? I think the greenhouse looks nice but I'm afraid with the hail that we get in Colorado, that there could be damage done to the greenhouse-so that is a bummer that we can't have anything this nice in Colorado.
Hi Greg yes we've gone through 2 winters. There is a video for exactly that in our detailed Playlist! Please check it out. Lots of info in different videos! We are in nj and had a heavy snow this year. It held up well. As far as wind, we have this thing locked down on a good base. Also detailed in a video in the playlist!
It’s very cute! But the problems you’ve had are disappointing and you guys obviously did your best to mitigate the issues. It’s such a great size for someone like me who really doesn’t need or want a huge amount of space.
Thank you for watching and commenting. We did our best with it for sure. With its issues aside the one thing I'm mostly confident about, is its structure is sturdy for the price. And we went above and beyond to secure it down. I'm working in it every day now and learning it's quirks. I'll be doing an update soon, stay tuned !
Costco ran out of this item and told us it would be at least next year. Found it at Home Depot (for $2000) not $1389. We bit and ordered it though HD for in store delivery, they wanted $79 more for curbside. Got it home and my pearl of wisdom will be - Do the inventory! As you are doing it, segregate the items into the various steps of assembly. Ie: front panel, rear panel, sides, roof, and shelves. It makes it so much easier to find a part when you’re ready for it. The HD version does not come prefinished! Regarding fit and finish- wow most joints are held together with one screw. I put the roof joists up today and the are all out of wack. I’m spending tomorrow figuring out what got out of square I guess. The base was ok, but if the surface you mount it too isn’t perfect, I suspect the imperfections telegraphed to the roof structure so hopefully loosening the floor tie downs will allow me to adjust things. Over all, I’m really not sure if it was worth the money. It feels flimsy. I’m building ours in a wind protected spot, and I would worry if it was out in the open in a real storm. Also, I don’t think it can handle much of a snow load. I built it by myself, so it can be done. Thanks for the review and the heads up about the door latch.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Maybe HD would do a refund if it becomes an issue. I'd personally voice any dissatisfaction maybe they can give a portion back to keep it if you call corporate. The costco yardistry I'm pretty sure it's back on costco.com
I'm thinking about going to a Costco store and buying this tomorrow. Will the boxes fit in a full size pickup truck? It would be about an hour drive. Thanks.
(I realize I might be late since this comment is 5 days ago, hopefully you figured it out!) The costco loading guys helped us get it into the back of our pickup, and we strapped it in with two or three ratchet straps and drove slow and careful, no highway, on the way home. It fit in the back of the pickup with the tailgate down. Once we got home, we backed up to where we planned to build it and pushed and slid the boxes down next to each other. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely doable with two people.
Good video, I'm getting ready to install this green house it in my yard this weekend or at least start the process, did you reach out to Yardistry for a solution to the warped door, i was told they have an excellent customer service support.
Thank you for watching! We did reach out to yardistry after we quickly realized parts were missing. They were great and promptly sent the parts being mostly hardware. After that it got tricky. When we started working on it we needed support on the instructions. I called and my husband called. We got 2 different answers on the same question. We figured it out on our own. Then we had another question and they told us to take pics and they would TRY to get back to us the same day. We quickly realized while they were nice it was just a lot of lip service and them reciting the written manual. Then the horror of all the warped pieces. They sent them out but were worse than the original. It caused us tremendous delays and construction went on for weeks because we had to wait Then tweak our own schedule. They had to carrier ship a new door and vent. Both way worse. So we installed the surface bolt. I highly encourage an eye hook for the inside while working in it. Wind grabs it and it swings open. FYI support is only available Monday to Friday. Good luck please show us your pics when done!!
Hi there. Actually this is going to be on sale next week price includes delivery but not set up. I'm not sure that assembling then moving it be achieved. I mean, they move the sample around the warehouse, but that's a flat area with a forklift.
Saw this greenhouse the other day at Costco, the cedar smell was surprisingly strong. My day dream of a greenhouse will have to wait, but I did get a pair of really great gardening gloves there, very nice leather two pack - did you see those?
My daughter brought those gloves home tonight. They are wonderful! They fit perfectly with my fingers being able to move and easily grasp things. I have had such a problem in the past with garden gloves, but these are amazing!
Great video. I have too many projects to complete to start another however, maybe at the end of the season if there still available. I'm in Burlington county.

Wow, not good to get locked in. Maybe hang a weight on the flip handle or find something to put inside the cylinder bolt to snug it up so it doesn’t slide so easy. I just watch The Rusted Garden and he had a problem with the auto vent window catching also. He said he needed to shave it down where it was catching. The warped door, I wonder if a tension bar would pull it in, the adjustable type that are used on screen doors to prevent sagging. I’m glad you showed the bottom vent as I thought that was permanently open, but couldn’t tell on other video. That has to have an auto vent for me as it’s cold here, or a manual cover. Well I like the size as they are easy to heat. I recently got a remote temp/hygrometer with alarm and was surprised to watch the changes and how dry it was with no plants. We have a lean-to we built from scraps. We will enlarge it a bit by a couple feet for a bit more room, add a heat sink in floor, vents, insulated wall bottoms and on back wall to north, and a storm door with screen. I wish it was done as the seedlings are taking over the house. Once you get the kinks out you will love it. Thank you for review.
Thanks for watching and offering great ideas! For the lock, right now I'm just tying it off until I find an old cylinder or old lock just to hang there. We finally found a surface bolt to fit and it closes the warp. That vent though....what a pain. I'm not willing to shave it because it swells and contracts dramatically. And it already has leaking issues. Once you shave it it's hone forever so I'm just opening it manually. I watched rusted gardens install, and honestly I can't say I agree with several things he did. We are determined to work out the kinks for sure!
Hi James thanks for watching! We have an entire Playlist for the greenhouse!! We built this on a slope so we leveled the foundation using trap rock and cinder dust. We covered that for retention with fabric. Then the structure base is 4x4 on front and back with 4x6 on the sides for wiggle room and wide stability. We secured that to the to the foundation by driving rebar through in opposing angles. So now it's slightly raised allowing for water drainage! I hope that made sense 😃
Ethan please visit our Playlist. We show the foundation, and base. It's critical to attach this to a level space. We used 4x6 for sides and 4x4 for front and back to raise it off the ground. I'll be happy to answer more questions
@@ourbackyardgarden I’m doing a layer of pavel walking stones. And then the greenhouse ontop. I just don’t know how to attach it. I’m trying to reference many videos and stuggling
Ethan Im not sure why this comment was held for review. Im just seeing it now. I apologize for the delay. Im not sure if attaching this base to pavers would work as they can be uneven. We laid our floor after it was built with a gravel edge inside and pavers in the center. We excavated a foundation making it level with compacted stone dust and covered it with fabric. Then we used 4x4 and 4x6 timbers attached to the ground with rebar driven in in opposing directions. That secured the timber base to the ground its not budging. Now the structure base pieces are attached to the timbers with decking screws and hurricane ties. All in our play list.
In my experience most greenhouses are pure structure…the real Expense IS always going to be the additional features needed to make I work like it shud…balancing humidity and temperature…..and even with that there is the yearly mold abatement if you don’t want to end up with a deadly respiratory condition My $900 greenhouse ( 9 yrs ago) ended up costing me $1500 in the end…. I have a cooler …opted not to get a heater
If you buy any wood, unless you hand pick every piece, many will warp. Wood needs to be manipulated often. You will hear that from every experienced woodworker.
A quick question about seed starting in the greenhouse. I see you started some seeds, annuals I think you said. I’m wondering how the night time temps affect the seeds/seedlings? I have the same greenhouse and I am in zone 7 but have yet to start seeds in it. Hoping for some advice as it is still getting below freezing at night. I’ve started a lot of seeds (brocolli, lettuce, spinach, etc) indoors but not sure when its safe to put them out in the greenhouse. Any thoughts on this please Leigh? Enjoyed your video!
Hi Susan thank you for watching! I started pansy, snapdragons, and vinca I have left out there for a week. No germination yet but not off track....yet. I started peppers and eggplant a week ago but I've been dragging them in nightly. Now tomorrow they are saying it's dropping down to 17 degrees. I'm sort of freaking out but it's ok. I've accepted my kitchen table will become a mess, I'm dragging all of it in! I was just now out there working in it, in the pouring rain. It leaks like crazy!!
@@brad4527 thank you brad!! I've been thinking about ways to seal it but I also don't want to trap any water. I think a true water tight greenhouse might be hard to find. Thank you so much for watching!

I also want to consider a hot water option since it's a tiny space. And the ceiling stays warm but the floor temp drops down to air temps. Stay tuned!!
Thank you for your reply. My Yardistry green house is now stuffed (65 6 inch pots) with all the tender plants I have transplanted into pots from my flower gardens. I live in northern Utah and frost and snow are just a few days away. I'm wondering how you water pots in your greenhouse? I am using a small electric oil filled heater to heat the space that seems to be doing a good job - temperatures are hovering around 55 degrees F. I also have a small tower fan to keep the air moving. I have added several black plastic shelving systems to increase storage area. As for getting locked in the greenhouse (I have extreme claustrophobia) I have drilled out the holes for the screws that hold the clasp to the frame and change to bolts with wingnuts on the inside. If my wife or myself gets trapped in we can just remove the wingnuts and push the door open. Also, I have treated all the wood surfaces with several coats of linseed oil. I love this little greenhouse and I am having a lot of fun working with it.@@ourbackyardgarden

Hi Sylvia thanks for watching. A few weeks ago costco added this back to seasonal in store inventory. Since then it's not available online but it probably will be again in a few months. Right now it's 1389. I paid almost 1700 online.
Hi Luis thank you for watching. For our situation I can't really say because, we needed parts sent at least 3 times. In a perfect situation with all parts good, a handy person with a helper can do assembly in 2 days, maybe less. Keep in mind it's critical to have a level foundation and timber base. Please review our Playlist we cover everything!
This is a natural wood product and one can expect warping. To minimize this it should be coated with penetrating sealer like Penofin, as soon as it is taken out of the box. Then keep a taro over the material as you are building. The fender washer is OK but just squeezing the chain link a bit would accomplish the same job. A simple hook would keep the latch in place. I think the latch wasn’t all the way down when it moved over. If you only own a car you shouldn’t try this type of work. I ordered one and plan on assembling it by myself. They also will replace items that cannot be used because of warping. I would say that all the cutting and making it from scratch would be easy but take more time than is worth. So the price is worth it at least to me. Everyone has to know what their own time is worth.
Thanks, I am still young enough (75) for that little task. I have built all my own houses. Four new ones. Plus one houseboat. Labor is 67%. So no house payments in 44 years.
@@ourbackyardgarden I am still finishing up my last one. Making some interior doors ant trim. It’s 5300 square feet and the work shop is 7700. Then someone told me I was supposed to be downsizing! How was I supposed to know? I like to work and it’s better than sitting around.
For $1300. This is a decent greenhouse. If you want perfection, I have seen places like The Barn Yard in CT sell greenhouses starting at 15,000. Just saying
So if that was shipped and got wet and wasn’t laud flat, the wood could warp. All wood warps. I have built projects where I bought straight pieces and as I build pieces not on a flat surface warp by the time I get to them. Any experienced woodworker would tell you wood often needs to be manipulated.
We thought about that! Lol our yard gets blazing hot in summer. Today this little greenhouse was 97 degrees. I can't imagine an all glass model at this point.

Did you tell us that Costco no longer offers this unit. It is no longer in my Costco and it is no longer offered at that price. Yardistry no longer offers it at that price. It is now offered at over $2100. Consider yourself lucky you have one. One question Did you buy some clamps and did that help you assemble?
No sir I did not say that. It's in many stores right now at 1389.00 I bought it from costco.com in October before it was the store at 1700.00 we did not buy clamps. I was a human clamp, it worked well! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching and both comments! The lock is basically easy to replace and avoid once you're aware of the problem. Its just a scary thing to discover the hard way! It's also a great potting shed. I've been also pondering how long it will hold up, but if I get a few years out of it I'll be happy! Good luck with your new greenhouse I sure hope you love it. I'll check out that brand!
@@thedrunkenredneck4898 cistco worked with us on meeting the final warehouse sale price. That allowed us to accept its faults and hope to have it for 5 years. We had already done a large scale excavation and grading. We were invested at that point with our time and money.
@@XxsoonerbornxX alot of people got a warped door actually. It's frustrating because it's such a cute structure. And it has purpose. It's a great potting shed. I'll be doing a new update. If it last to 5 years it will be a miracle. Lots of cracking now, all over.
Thank you for watching. Honestly, they did offer to replace it. But at that point we invested tremendous hours of time that could not be replaced. The parts they sent were worse than the what they were replacing. We didn't want to start over with potentially the same quality issues. So we accepted it and stuck it out.
Well I’m not sure about anyone else watching this video but all the reviews I’ve seen even on other channels there’s allot of problems from warped wood to getting locked in. No thank you I’ll save my money for something else.
@@tiffanycrain1791 hi Tiffany thanks for watching. I'm not really sure if I regret it to be honest. Overall I'm happy to have a warm enclosed space to mix soil and sow seeds. Its quite peaceful. I definitely expected more from it. But I now feel like, any greenhouse is going to be a demanding learning curve and have its issues. If your willing to heat it and give circulation it can be a great purchase for the price. I price shopped many and a good one to withstand wind is super expensive. It's a good beginner greenhouse and if I get 10 years out of it I'll be happy. It's critical for longevity to be installed properly level and slightly elevated to avoid sitting in moisture. Please share pics and your own experience it will help us all!
@@ourbackyardgarden Thank you! I had to call Costco every morning for days to get my hands on it. A lot of people are after it. My husband has been telling me for years that he would build a greenhouse but it keeps getting placed on the back burner. I live in a windy area.. I agree that the other greenhouses I have looked at start at 4k. Thanks for your video!
Thanks for watching! It does have its issues for sure. There are cute models through little cottage co that offer sizes and working windows. That was my first choice!
Thank you for watching!! I learned a ton since living with this structure. I think these issues are common to greenhouses in general unless you have an expensive one built!! Good luck in your journey!
Hi Paula thanks for watching! Ya know, it sure is tiny, which is what makes it so cute. I almost ordered a much larger greenhouse from little cottage company 10 times more expensive. The thing I learned from this greenhouse house is, the bigger and taller it is, the harder it is to keep it warm at night. This little space has the ability to be well appointed. Now I'm happy I didn't go bigger! I learned a lesson!
The warped wood would require a return in my opinion. But the other relatively minor adjustments/ upgrades are minor. In watching your video later shows even more problems created by the warped wood. Why didn't you return the original warped kit to Costco? I'm s member there and feel quite sure they would make it good.
Thanks for watching. We were quite frustrated and already invested so much time. I wish I bought the little cottage company model with 3 walls of functional windows instead. Lesson learned here.
We have those latch/locks on our gates to keep our farm animals in. To prevent the latch from moving off the post use a carabiner to keep it in place. 😊
Thank you for watching! Great idea on that thank you!!!
Bought mine at Costco last October and it sat in my garage all winter. Just installed it now. No warping and skylight is functioning as designed. Ran electric into foundation before assembly of the structure.
Time to grow!!!
YES!!!! That's awesome!!! It definitely made my seed starting easier!
I have purchase one from Costco , I couldn’t be happier , we didn’t have any problem at all everything was fine ❤
That's wonderful!! I hope you enjoy it for many years!!
I commend you, Leigh, for the candid and excellent job reviewing this set-up. It looks very nice and I am just now researching the purchase of a greenhouse of my own. Thank you for the info and great job of features/benefits, pros/cons.

Can the foundation be added after the house is delivered and set up?
Can you get costco to install it? I really want a greenhouse like that but cannot install it myself!
Along with the lack of a second vent, I would have liked"
The long lower shelf to be 20" vs only 16",
A Dutch-door (many owners have modified their Yardistry door and said it is an easy mod).
Wish I could see or read a specific descriptive if you created a 'dutchdoor' for this greenhouse.
Thank-you.

That's a clever solution! It's so scary getting locked in! Thank you for watching!
Considering this for the price. Thanks for doing a review. I’ll check out your follow-on review as well, just noticed it.
If purchased a month ago - approach the costco counter and get the difference back on the floor price - they knocked off a decent amount on our floor.
Thank you so much for these details I appreciate your taking the time to go over everything like you did

I got locked inside too. It happened yesterday. I didn’t have my phone on me but luckily my watch worked.
Hi nick thanks for watching. It's so scary to get locked in! I've been very careful to tie it off before I go in and have a phone at all times. I also have to tie it off from the inside to prevent the wind from swinging it open.
Gary from The Rusted Garden just announced he bought one of these I wonder if he's seen this. Great video and thanks for making it.
Thank you for watching! I did see that on instagram. I'm very surprised he didn't build a base to attach it to. I have no regrets on my base build!

Thank you for a thorough review and tips are really helpful - we are thinking of getting this one as well.

@@keithgaull7493 hi neighbor! Yes the link is posted in several places including our Amazon store. Did you find it?
Thanks so much!
so... how did it work out for you year-round? Is the structure still holding up? What did you grow in it?
Thank you for watching and commenting. We did 2 more reviews on this in our Playlist! All dedicated to this structure. We learned a lot about what any greenhouse requires! My last video was recent, please check it out. I think you will find a lot of points in there and you will see how it weathered after 2 winters!
Thanks for sharing and good luck with your new purchase. I saw this in my Costco this morning and I wasn’t impressed. Happy Gardening from a fellow gardener at the Jersey Shore !
Hi Irene thank you for watching! Do you have a vegetable garden? I've always wondered about growing down the shore! Do you have salt air issues?
I might have missed this. My husband would like to know if there a way to prevent rain/moisture from entering at rooftop?
Hi Kristine. Honestly...it leaks. Mainly at the vent. But I don't think it's possible to make it water tight.
After all of our struggles they kept
telling us we could take it apart and return it. We were patient waiting for parts. It literally took weeks! I'm must happy that's behind d us now. I dont really mind opening the vent every day manually.

Thanks.
Hi Martha thanks for watching. I think the boxes are 4ft x 8ft awkward and heavy. I hope you have a helper! Good luck!!!

@@williammartin-m9ohow has your experience been with the green house?
So what did you use for the base ? Is it on a concrete slab ?
Hi James thanks for watching! We have an entire Playlist for the greenhouse!! We built this on a slope so we leveled the foundation using trap rock and cinder dust. We covered that for retention with fabric. Then the structure base is 4x4 on front and back with 4x6 on the sides for wiggle room and wide stability. We secured that to the to the foundation by driving rebar through in opposing angles. So now it's slightly raised allowing for water drainage! I hope that made sense 😃
@Our Backyard Garden thank you Thank you for your response I will definitely check out those videos and I appreciate all your information
@@jamesdevito9368 sounds like you are building this greenhouse? Good luck and happy growing!!! Please share your journey!
@Our Backyard Garden i am and I will
Thank you again
I need to figure out how to build the base? Everyone keeps mentioning a base before they do the structure and I dont know what to do
Ethan please visit our Playlist.
In my experience most greenhouses are pure structure…the real Expense IS always going to be the additional features needed to make I work like it shud…balancing humidity and temperature…..and even with that there is the yearly mold abatement if you don’t want to end up with a deadly respiratory condition
My $900 greenhouse ( 9 yrs ago) ended up costing me $1500 in the end…. I have a cooler …opted not to get a heater
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm learning this now and agree. It's important to know this thank you!
Warped wood...I've heard enough.
I hear ya!!! But we stuck it out and made it work!! Thanks for watching!!
We just put this together yesterday. There was no warped wood and it came together perfectly. Just need to follow directions
I bought one and none of my boards were warped or wet. If they were, I would have returned it.

Thanks for the thorough review! Very scary to think of being locked inside even on a cool day.
Thank you for watching! I thought the same about it being a cool day and imagined it being like it was today, at 110 degrees!!! Is like the middle of August in there!
What have you used to heat your Yardistry greenhouse during the cold winter months? Thanks for all the good advice. John's is a super guy.
Thank you for watching!! We actually haven't heated it...YET! We are exploring non electric options. Evidently we are hearing these heaters pull a ton of power and really impact the electric bill. I'm trying to find something solar. But stay tuned for the next video today. I found something that is a good idea or concept. Please be sure to hit the notification bell so you don't miss it!
Do you think this would hold up to a few inches of snow?
I'm hoping so! We are in nj it snows here. I think the roof design will encourage a quick melt and run off. But for me I'll help it off with a broom! Thanks for watching!

Hi Sylvia thanks for watching. A few weeks ago costco added this back to seasonal in store inventory. Since then it's not available online but it probably will be again in a few months. Right now it's 1389. I paid almost 1700 online.
How long did it take to build?
Hi Luis thank you for watching. For our situation I can't really say because, we needed parts sent at least 3 times. In a perfect situation with all parts good, a handy person with a helper can do assembly in 2 days, maybe less. Keep in mind it's critical to have a level foundation and timber base. Please review our Playlist we cover everything!
For the cost of the green house it should not have those problems.
Thank you for watching. We agree.
I have the same greenhouse and have not had any of these problems that she has had.
It’s exactly as expected for $1300

adjust the black door closer adjustment screw to keep the door shut.
Thank you for that advice. I'll have Farmer John look at that. Its driving me crazy!
Good luck!
Thanks, I am still young enough (75) for that little task. I have built all my own houses. Four new ones. Plus one houseboat. Labor is 67%. So no house payments in 44 years.

So if that was shipped and got wet and wasn’t laud flat, the wood could warp. All wood warps. I have built projects where I bought straight pieces and as I build pieces not on a flat surface warp by the time I get to them. Any experienced woodworker would tell you wood often needs to be manipulated.
Agreed. This stuff was warped in the box though. It was hard to work with in my opinion. Next time I'll get a little cottage brand with real windows!
If I had your yard, I would have bought 2 harbor freight greenhouses and put them next to each other lol.

Hi Paula thanks for watching! Ya know, it sure is tiny, which is what makes it so cute. I almost ordered a much larger greenhouse from little cottage company 10 times more expensive.
