Find me one in CALIFORNIA for under 19k. Good luck with that are gas was almost 7 dollars a gallon last summer. I get 13 city and 15 freeways with my Challenger R/T Classic. They would be worth every penny. It runs about 90 dollars a week in gas.

Not if you account for features required by the government or features demanded by consumers on even the most basic vehicles. Comparing this to a car from the early 2000s is apples and oranges. They didn't have backup cameras, emergency braking, side curtain airbags, bluetooth, android auto, stuff that is all standard today. You can't compare this to for example a Lancer from 20 years ago.

Yes many families need this car but profit on each car is so low dealers don't like ordering these (and similar cars like versa and even corolla) taking up lot space so they fill their lots with expensive suv's and pickups as much as possible. When I search inventory not much to choose from in the compact car category maybe 3 or 4 currently on the lot for the smaller cars.

G4 owner here who traded the 22’ ES ($17k) trim for 23’ SE trim ($19k)
ES is not a bad choice if you just wanna be cheap. I personally recommend the LE instead for nicer appeal vs ES. 15” alloy wheels, armrest and such.
Now, If anyone wants the Mirage with convenience features and a modern vibe inside out, do consider the SE trim level. It only $2k more from ES and it the best bang for the $. LED lights, push start button, heated seats, led gauge cluster, fog lamps, etc…
Alternately, the BE is a good option but ONLY if you love the looks outside more than inside of the Mirage.
Because, to me, the BE lacks appeal from the SE and it only $700 difference between these trims I went with the SE.
Note that the G4 SE ONLY has that trunk unlock button on the key fob and the push button to open the trunk instead of the turn key. It screams convenience when hauling stuff and passengers at the same time.
Lastly, the Mirage G4 is a good inexpensive family hauler to transport from point a to b with strollers, Costco runs, and such. The SE would enhance the experience unlike the ES trim as to why I traded it mine in the first place.

    • @lockdot2
      @lockdot2 7 місяців тому +1

I agree, though to me there are only 2 trim levels, the ES, and SE. The LE/BE don't really seem worth it much, as they don't change much at all. But the SE gets nicer seats, heated seats, remote start, push button start, lane keep assist (or at least something that beeps at you). And probably a few others.

A nice respectful review of a basic transportation automobile.
I drove a 54 hp 1967 VW Beetle for 20 years. And an Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite for 32 years. This G4 is a luxury car by comparison. The greatest fear with this type of automobile is dependability. CVT transmissions - and you know what I mean by that. I now have a Fiat 500 Convertible. A special order made for the dealer as a showroom model. The automatic stick shift is made by Toyota. I talked them out of it. I love little cars. They just feel zippy and more like you are driving them as opposed to feeling like a passenger on a barge. :)

You need to shift the CVT into “Ds” mode to get an extra boost of power while accelerating. Doing this will increase RPM, thereby sending more torque to the front wheels and giving the car more oomph under heavy throttle conditions. Use “L” for more torque when accelerating from a standstill. Be sure to upshift manually to “Ds” and finally into “D.” This is most helpful when beginning to climb a steep incline from a standing stop. By mastering these techniques, you’ll be able get better performance from the diminutive engine.

Great video! I just purchased a 2024 G4. And I really do like it especially the gas mileage. I do have a question about the steering which is hard to explain what I’m experiencing. So as I’m driving on a straight stretch, I feel like I’m constantly having to adjust the steering wheel to stay straight. If I move the wheel just a little to the right it starts to drift right, when I turn a little to the left it starts to drift left so I’m constantly moving the steering very little back and forth. My previous car was a 2010 Chevy Malibu with very smooth steering. Is it just me or is that normal for the Mirage G4 and some thing I will eventually get used to?

The Nissan Versa comes with a 4-cylinder, 122 hp. engine standard. Is better looking. Fuel economy numbers are going to be negligible. And, ironically, _cheaper_ than the G4 Mitsubishi Mirage. (G4 simply means it's the sedan version. Black Edition literally means that the chrome parts on the car as blacked out.) There is seriously no reason to buy this sedan over the Versa. Only folks who should be driving the G4 Mirage instead, High School graduates who got one as a gift from their parents, or anyone working at a Mitsubishi dealership with a very hefty employee discount.

My advice is get a week off from work, get a 1 way ticket to Younger Mitsubishi, buy the car, and drive it back. Google says it will take about 35 hours of driving, so split that into a few hours a day, and have a nice trip.

    • @sachinnair91

Read the fine print of that 20 year warranty. You have to do all your vehicle maintenance at Younger Mitsubishi to maintain the warranty. Since you live in Vegas, the warranty is useless. Buy a new Mirage from a Mitsubishi dealership near you

I heard rumors that Mitsubishi has really gone downhill that 2025 next year will be the final year of the Mirage & the Mirage G4 series...
Looking at Mitsubishi's current inventory, they're NOT doing that great... Only crappy SUVs & this weak Subcompact Sedan Mirage G4.
Their old models like the Diamante Full Size Sedan, the Galant Mid Size Sedan, their "signature" Lancer/Lancer Evo Compact/Sports Sedan, the 3000GT Sports Car, & the Eclipse Sports Car, & even their Mighty Max Pickups, ALL DISCONTINUED....
Mitsubishi is currently hanging by a thread because of this Mirage G4 still in the market. If this Mirage G4 joins the Mitsubishi's Discontinued List (which will be after 2025), eventually Mitsubishi will sink completely & that Mitsubishi will end up like Pontiac or Saab, which is they will NO LONGER make cars. Sad for Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi still have a chance to make their car company great again by simply BRINGING BACK their legendary cars like the 3000GT, the Eclipse, the Lancer Evo, the Galant & the Diamante. If Mitsu resurrect those legendary vehicles, then Mitsu survives. Otherwise, Mitsu: join Saab & Pontiac in the defunct list.

Coupled with that parts for vehicles over two decades old often are ripe for extensive transmission, suspension and engine issues.
