Norris Castle East Cowes - Isle of Wight - Aerial Video - Aug 2017

Ever since I've been going out on the water in the Solent, I've been intrigued by the site of Norris Castle in East Cowes. Looks great from the sea perched up on its fantastic location, but you can't see it from anywhere on land. Even with a UAV it's a challenge as there is no take off/landing area (on public land) that gives a nice clear view toward the castle area. In the end I figured that taking off from East Cowes seafront would have to do. Not brilliant as you need to keep a fair height to maintain signal, but reasonably pleased with the end result.
I would love the opportunity to actually take some close up shots before they start building work to transform it into luxury apartments/hotel.

Thanks. Not as good as yours though :) I didn't watch your's until AFTER I uploaded mine. Lucky really, as I probably wouldn't have bothered :) I wouldn't go inside, but wouldn't mind getting a little closer to get more detailed shots. I was flying the Mavic from East Cowes seafront.

I'm glad you put the video up, I certainly enjoyed it and you did really well to get such a good video and from so far away! Some mighty impressive range on the Mavic, I'm lucky to get 800m from my DJI Phantom 3. You can walk along the sea wall a bit further and I'm sure you'd be able to film at the bottom of the hill the castle sits on without being detected. If you did get caught the worst thing they can do is ask you to leave. 👍
