I don't think I've ever seen a more generous musician than Joe Jackson. He always shares the spotlight with his band. Really quite a nice reflection of who he is.
He just never disappoints. His multiple musical talents are utterly unprecedented. He has carefully crafted a place all his own in the pantheon of rock and roll royalty. And yet he's underrated, which makes him an irony unto himself. God bless Joe Jackson.
No one can touch Joe Jackson., no matter what he turns his musical chops to. All his albums are all so unique....so Joe. His covers ,well, he makes them his own
This was such a brave departure for him and he’s one of the very few who truly followed his muse and against the odds was able to keep a fan base large enough to allow him to continue this to this day. If the HOF was truly about artistic expression and independence, then Joe would have inducted years ago.
I've always loved joe, night and day is one of the finest produced albums it's the album that just keeps giving. I bought it after hearing stepping out, the rest was just an education, still gives me goosebumps every time I put it on.😍💟👍
I've been a Joe Jackson fan since the eighties, but I've never seen this before. I had no idea Joy Askew had such vocal talent! What a great performance!
"Joe" started as a bar musician, with Graham by his side. Always loyal to his band mates and the music. Never fails to put it all out there, whether original compositions or homages to his influences.
Joe could never quite capture the "angry young man" attitude that drew people to Elvis, though I can hear it in some of his songs. They do sound similar in many ways; you're right. It's a shame he never got more popular than he did. Joe is an amazing talent.
I've never really understood the comparison. I mean, they're males from England, born around the same time. That's about it. All else is contrived by the media. Joe Jackson is the far superior performer and musician, imo.
@@tarp11z100% correct. Some of the best shows I’ve ever seen were Joe Jackson and 2 of the worst shows I’ve EVER seen were Elvis Costello. They’re not in the same league.
So many nothings at Rockpalace. So many hours to wait. But then there where Little Steven and then Joe. Thanks for a life, WDR and naturally Peter Rüchel.
That basist is incredible to sing while playing that all over The fucking place easyly best version of how Sweet it is to be loved by you 10:30 lost it
This is beyond great, whoever hasn't seen this is missing out. I was fortunate enough to see this on the Night and Day tour ... but without Joy, I think. Joe announced the medley with "If you don't like this, you're sick!" Thanks for letting me see it again. Can anyone tell me why Graham Maby isn't the biggest name in music?
Along with all his fantastic tunes Joe never lost the fun and vitality of music itself. Love him!
Been loving Joe since 78 and I guess he’s still educating me on a vast range of music. He truly is “The Man”. Thank you Joe.

Brilliant!!! Didn't realise what a great voice Graham maby has ❤

Graham Maby's falsetto--HOLY SMOKES!!!
I love the manic energy mid 80s Joe Jackson had. Was also had his artistic peak here with Night & Day and Body & Soul
Bless you Yanks and your brilliant music. Bless you. 👉💪🔥

One of the best live artists!
Superb performance- great band and musicians!
Thanks a lot for the upload! One of my favourite concerts from the early 1980s. Saw this on German Television. Great memories.
Graham Maby is still HOT today!!People just don't get ,Joe is a genius!!!...Oh well!!Their loss!!
killer bass player. It was little up tempo but obviously still great. High energy
Fine quality production.
Really shows Mr. Jackson's style flexibility.

My cat was sleeping and surprised me as she jumped on my desk! Baby Gurl likes her Motown!
Perfect match, Motown and JJ
This guy can do everything music and it’s great
Such a great talent! Ive always thought Joe and Elvis C. Have very similar singing styles...

Really they don't, though they ARE both genuine songwriters and equally musically important.
Apples and oranges are also similar.

Excellent performance great energy Cool !!!
I’ve been with Joe since 79 and I never heard Graham take a lead vocal in all that time. Cool
I am from Detroit.
Thanks for posting. Thanks Joe.
Why dont more stars do cover sections like this. Its great.
I too am from Detroit, grew up on Tamala Motown
First saw Joe at the Punch and Judy theater in Grosse Pointe, MI, 1979, and many times after that in Detroit
More bands don’t cover cuz not talented enough without sounding foolish!
Bloody brilliant . Listening to this while I cook my dinner & drink beer 🍺.
All I can say is DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many nothings at Rockpalace. So many hours to wait. But then there where Little Steven and then Joe. Thanks for a life, WDR and naturally Peter Rüchel.
Joe Jackson is still hotter than ever
What a stellar performance
He is great, but he has a great band, very good !!!
It´s the first time I hear Graham on lead vocals! Ace!
Top class, the band are on fire.
I love this man,genius

Totally agree! !!!
Graham Maby is a bass god.
Because the media is the media, and that's all they'll ever be.
Nice work Lindsey.
Thanks, Mark!! :)
I'm gonna make you love me is my favorite.
Love this! I've seen Joe many, many times beginning in 1979, but do not recall hearing him perform this medley. What year was this?
@ Kelly Symmes lucky you!! I haven't, amongst ALL the many concerts I've seen
over the years, somehow missed Joe
@ Kelly Symmes lucky you!! I haven't, amongst ALL the many shows I've seen
This such a great watch✌👏👏
Lineup and Graham's youthful look suggest Night & Day Tour.
Rockpalast - Grugahalle Essen/Germany - April1983
Why is this upbeat tempo "Tears of a Clown" so popular? "The Beat" also did an upbeat version in the 80's.
Easier to dance to an upbeat tempo maybe?
Which tour was this?
Not my bag . Very all over the place

You're joking 😸
Joy
Absolutely mediocre.
Comment from an absolutely soulless.
You're hair band aficionado, I'm guessing?
