You just can't comprehend. The point of this argument is: are children better with the father in the home? Esso said he can't relate which is true regardless if he went to his friend house and witnessed many different situations. Ish has a point when he say some relationships are dysfunctional but it don't take away from the important of having a father in a child's life as well as him being in the home. Unless thing are extreme, couple need to do better at working things out

Ish is not totally right. His purpose in using the momma wears the pants sometimes in the 2 parent household dynamic. Was to go against Essos point that it's the man being present that leads to kids being more successful.
Ish argument still validates Essos point because if that same woman who wears the pants in a 2 parent household was a single mother. The odds of her children being successful drop tremendously.
So the man being there. Even though he takes on the weaker role. Still is the bigger contributing factor to the kids success. So Ish is right when saying that all 2 parent households aren't the same. I mean that goes without saying. No things are the same.
But he said it in order to argue that if the mama is the leader of the 2 parent home. Then she is the bigger contributor to the kids success and not the man and that's not true. As I stated, if that same woman becomes a single mother. The odds drop tremendously. But if that man becomes a single father. The odds are not to far from the 2 parent household odds.
Both are parents are equal in value. The role of father consists of structure, discipline, critical thinking, and problem solving. Which will help children be more successful than nurturing, consoling, and encouraging. But we need both for children to be fully developed and well rounded. Esso took this one.

I dont know a single dude who was raised in a two parent household that will downplay the importance of the male presence. That isnt to say that there arent bad fathers who can sometimes have a negative impact, but by and large, having a decent father is the most important backbone for a family. As Esso was hinting at, the government or "powers that be" know this which is why they incentivize black women to leave black men by enabling welfare/government assistance, prioritize women in family court (i.e., child support - search title IV-D - alimony etc.)

Well I appreciated my Father! It’s 5 of us. He took care of us and raised us to be men! He didn’t play nor did my mom go against his ways of making us “Think” and be “Disciplined” men..
His presence just demanded the room and respect. He was a fun dad at the same time. My mother loved him and he loved her like I’ve never seen again in this generation. It’s crazy because he never made over $70,000 his entire life. Never got to retire. He died at 52 in his sleep. Me being 25 and the youngest messed me up. I’m thankful my older brothers just was copies of him. It’s like he never left. 🤷🏾‍♂️
It’s crazy how this is a big deal now..

No household is the same. Ish is right. Just because you have 2 parents in the household doesn't mean you will be successful. But studies DO SHOW that they are more than likely to succeed vs a child from a 1 parent household.
Esso KEPT saying that's my lived experience yet he can't speak on Ish's lived experience by his logic as well. There ARE a bunch of households where the WOMAN runs the house! I have seen that as well.
Personally, I have seen a LOT of Parental dynamics in my lifetime like most of us. So, there's no one way to do things. Every Father is NOT motivational and supportive. They simply PROVIDE. And hey, neither is every Mother! There's just not a simple answer

People with a 1 parent household cannot compare or know how it is to have a two parent household where both parents are doing their part. It does create a different mentality.

Ish is correct my cousin had both parents growing up but I always questioned how she had two kids before graduating High School. When we became adults she said “Although my dad was present in the home, He showed his kids no love or affection” She said he was mean and angry most of the time and was the sole provider that’s it. So she ended up a teen mom because she was looking for male attention and validation because her father never gave it to her at home. She ended up going to college and getting her masters with the help of her former Math teachers. She’s makes a great living now she’s also a grandmother of two at 44 yrs old. Her dad my uncle by marriage passed away of C-19 in 2021 and she said on his death bed was the 1st time he told her “I LOVE YOU” 😢 So with that being said just because a father is in the house doesn’t mean he’d present. 🙏🏾 I’m with Ish on this one.
