I've been breezing through most of your Vlogs in the last days and loved the ride. We come from totally different worlds and yet you are my kind of nutjob. I'm an IT girl from suburban Vancouver Canada (both my parents are from Germany) and I landed here the same way many moons ago. I never left. Tara's videos are incredibly entertaining and educational.

Real farming is nothing like Stardew Valley and people do need to be reminded of that. Tara does that and she combines that with just the right amount of humour and snark. This mixture may not be unique, but it is rare. By the way, tell your parents I said: »Guten Morgen, einen schönen Tag für Sie.«

This is like Autralian reality tv. I love it. There was actual suspense waiting to see if the kangaroo would jump over the fence or not. And it's therapeutic to see things go properly for a change. Its satisfying

Fun fact but this is also why golf courses have "Frost Delays" sometimes! If you walk/drive the golf carts around on the grass it kills it, so we have to hold our earliest players back until the frost softens. It saves a lot from having to replace the dead patches of grass if we just let play go through as normal.

I didn’t have to be an insomniac to see this one! I’m in Alaska and it’s snowing. So extra nice to see sheep running on green paddocks. I looked up prime lines and wow 🤩. I’m sure that guy made a fortune developing the prime lines.
We didn't develop them, we've just jumped in earlier than most. I think they'll become a massive part of sheep as agriculture changes in the next few years.

On the velcro on your boots - if you don't already, you can use a pin or even a v. fine nit picker (as used for the likes of Slug) to pull the wool from the velcro's bed. Good luck with it!
Try buying EMS boots. Magnum EMS boots from the US will hold up really well to whatever you put them through & *REALLY* support the ankles & feet! I was a paramedic in the rural US for years & have a farm. They work well for both! I even wear them horseback trail riding. I get some strange looks from other farmers/riders but they work great for me. I have horrible ankles that love to roll and these boots prevent that. The zippers hold up really well as long as you clean & oil them occasionally & the laces they come with have always done well for me. I do however tuck the laces inside the top of the boot or under the top lace to help hold them. They aren’t cheap but a pair typically lasts me 2yrs. 🤷🏻♀️
You can get a velcro cleaning tool (I buy them to clean the poodle fuzz out of my dog's rugs bc... poodle). Honestly, I found that combat boots make fantastic barn boots. I bought a pair because they're a goth staple and they ended up being my barn boots because they're sturdy and supportive even when I'm walking on steep asf gravel.
Drone footage was fantastic. Interesting that while your seasons are the opposite to ours in Canada you are planting and lambing similar to our farmers.
Don't know if anyone has suggested it yet, but you can swap out your round laces for flat laces instead. I always have to do that for my kids because those rounded laces refuse to stay tied even when you double knot them!
When you tie your laces, do it... backward? Do the half hitch, then a loop. Instead of going FORWARD away from you to loop the other string around, loop it TOWARDS YOU. Then tuck it through and arrange the loops. I have NEVER had a lace come undone short of catching it on something that way! ❤ Double tie if needed to shorten the loops. For the velcro, take a pin and run it thru the side that has the hooks. Like cleaning out a hair brush! Do it in rows, pull out as much wool as you can. Maybe even some duct tape to pull the last loose wooly bits out. Sticky velcro again!
@@TaraFarms I'd imagine the stretchy silicone no-tie shoelace replacements wouldnt be too durable for farmwork, but how do aglet replacements do (the plastic bits on the end of shoelaces)? I use the metal ones that screw together instead of tie.
You need to swap out the shoelaces, buy ones that are oval or round or even spend a little extra for laces with texture. Never get flat laces though, never!
Depending on which way around you tie the base knot for the bow, the bow will either be up down / or left right. Seems to work much better when the bow is pointing left right. The base knot can be varied by changing which lace goes below the other. Now this is possibly not the issue with your laces but in case it is, give it a try. Of course there is always the knot on top of the bow but that's a bit of a hassle. Well of course someone else commented that, i guess 2x doesn't hurt for the algorithm :) Have a nice day!

The grippy side of velcro is the hooks. And you can de fluff them if you run a pin or knife blade through them.

Best tool for velcro cleaning is a wire slicker brush. Its like a small carding brush with bent wire 'bristles', often used to groom shaggy dogs.

Yes, our growing season is in winter. Because we don’t have much rainfall during summer and the grass dies

If you've got a wire brush (either for dogs or for a grill) that works great to take the wool out of the velcro hooks! It's a lifesaver

The base knot can be varied by changing which lace goes below the other.
Now this is possibly not the issue with your laces but in case it is, give it a try.
Of course there is always the knot on top of the bow but that's a bit of a hassle.
Well of course someone else commented that, i guess 2x doesn't hurt for the algorithm :)
