Upanishad are the core philosphy of Vedas, If you remove Upanishads from Vedas nothing is left. Upanishad tells true nature of reality of ourself and this universe. This true is eternal and cannot change. Smritis needs be updated as per current status of the Scoiety. Smritis written thousand year back are not relevant now. We have to change them as per need of the society. Social laws and practices can not be frozen in Time.

However Vyasa tried to explain it best way he can according to those time.... Because one can perceive and portray in his own way of understanding the ultimate reality.... as said by @Atul Kotwal.. social systems and political rules should be changed as accordingly as time progress.....
well that's your opinion.... what I'm saying is core principles stays the same as long as living beings exists. But the behaviors of those beings changes according to time... example: modern tech's.. cellphone... In past people used to travel from one place to another place for delivering a simple message... Now we won't do the same thing.. we use other methods (techs). If it is written in any scriptures that you should only travel to send a message... it will be foolish to follow same thing.... Message sender is one but methods are different. You claim to know Vedas... It is not easy to understand. For that we need references and guru's or scholars to teach us... Yes I agree that studying too much may create confusion.. But it gives better picture.. We should not conclude with our own opinion about scriptures... Others may understood it better than us.. So seeking is very important.... and realizing the truth is also crucial....

What brilliance. Years of reading,thinking or listening did not manage to convey the message this Swami does with such ease. I know enough of the latest in science to know nothing can disprove him. Swaimiji is not only erudite but also catches subtle points immediately & navigates beautifully through Vedanta adwaita to the pointers.Very deep insight into human experience and expectations.At such a place if a swami stumbles the entire following will loose faith.This will jeopardise the movement.After long long time probably after Swami Vivekananda we are blessed with Swami Sarvapriyanand.His selection of quotes,incidents,examples are very accurate & straight.My deep respect.
Consciousness binds itself by assuming a mind posture. As a result the mind conjures up consciousness into living the illusions of births and deaths, not realising that it is being fooled by its own mind posture consciousness mistakes itself for something other than itself.
Swami ji, what I dont get is if this exestince is only a dream and the only thing that exist is the brahman who is non dual, then why does the concept of sin and holy deed exist? why is it a sin to kill another person who is non existant. also where does karma philoshopy fit into it?
This lecture told the ultimate truth. In the earlier lecture, swamiji pointed all these karma, sin, rebirth and moksha are all kindergarden stuff. It's all for beginners. The one and only truth is everything is brahman, u r brahman and there is no such thing as moksha (breaking the cycle of re-birth).

No offence intended but he is very much different from osho . Osho doesnot deserve comparison with a person like swami. Swami is a true man of god.
