I've viewed more than 50 video lectures presented by Swami Sarvapriyananda, and this is possibly the BEST one, IMHO. There is so much passion in the delivery, and he makes the meaning of this single verse seem so simple to understand.

This video encapsulates the entire Vedanta! A great refreshment for a person who has studied Vedanta. It enables that person to relate and relish this great Satsang and it is also true for everyone with a quest to know the Self. Yes, I have been watching Swamiji's videos since more than a decade. Beautiful!
I have studied commentaries on Ashtavakra Gita by many spiritual masters. Without shadow of a doubt, the very best, lucid & effective commentaries on Ashtavakra are by Swami Sarvapriyananda only. No words to thank Pujya Swamiji for his crystal clarity & superb communication skills. Have to eternally thank him with inner silence. AUM.
Wow ! It's very beautiful ! Swami Sarvapriyananda has very beautifully explained three processes of Teaching of Vedanta, which are : 1) Hearing - I know what Vedanta said. 2) Reflecting - I understand it. 3) Meditating - But it has not transformed my life. It has not delivered. Now we have to absorbed it by Vendantic Meditation. It's really amazing!
I am Catholic and I have always been fascinated by non-dual teaching of Meister Echart that the Swami quoted in the beginning of this lecture, "the ground of being of God and my ground of being is one and the same." The Swamiji's erudition and eloquence in explaining about advaita vedanta, conciousness, sadhana, help throw new and fresh light in the way I grasp the deeper meanings of the verses in Gospel such as the Beautitudes, and the verses in Mathew 21: "Watch and pray....the Spirit is strong/willing, but the flesh is weak."
Sri Ramakrishna Guru Maharaj knew that HIS children of future need an authentic master to teach them and a source through which they can get access to this Master..Thus the Divine ordained and Swami Sarvapriyananda is the Master we humbly listen to and the Internet /youtube were also by Divine Ordinance..Shata Koti Pranams to Guru Maharaj
Thank you, Swamiji, ever grateful I remain, for this most enlightening talk. There are other talks of yours, all of which I enjoy greatly. I am however not getting rooted, sometimes noticing the mind playing the truant even. Guess it'll be my patience, along with persistence that will help the sailing through! Would treasure your kind & helpful words of guidance, if I get them.
I find using a mantra and mala are useful tools for getting a habit of mental repetition going... then when the mantra is going along by itself them i drop the mala. Then when i enter into the consciousness without thought i can let go of the mantra. Then i can abide while fully aware of abiding. Still aware of that there is an 'out there' but not distracted by it. No mind activity... no awareness of self and no awareness of not-self... but simply awareness of abiding in nothing/everything. I find that if I make any effort to become aware of the abiding... that is when the abiding begins to recede. If i let go of the effort (a grasping) the empty&full abiding returns. Once we get the 'hang of it' It's almost as if the abiding wants primarily to BE... but our mind activity can distract us from it. You might first attempt to just dwell in trust and patience and sincerity and emptiness... without any expectation. I hope there is something here that can help you.
Ashtavakra rocks! Swamiji also rocks with his awesome explanations through logic of the age old preaching of ' I'm the Brahmin! Know your self and you know the Almighty God 🙏! Pranam Swami Ji.🙏
Knowledge is not the preserve of a particular religion. It belongs to humanity as a whole.. Also, there was no 'Hindu' to begin with. It's a label given by Persians/Arabs.
Three levels of explanation really Great. Ocean of consciousness with boat Ocean with wave and still ocean of consciousness with movie like illusion are three steps explanation.
Interesting application of Shravana, manana, niddhidyasana, consciousness in jagrata, Swapna and sushupti, in experiencing through awareness, in being, in illumination/realisation What a great teaching, Pranams Swamiji

I have the version published by the Advaita Ashrama which is great because it has so much extra information in it, extended footnotes to thoroughly explain the meaning behind the use of many words and a narrated version of what the verses are saying, but sometimes it is hard to read through because you constantly get sidetracked by all of that stuff when you just want to read the work on its own. Sounds like I should look into getting the Byrom version as well.
I really admire all your speech and knowledge. My question is that all these knowledge are aquired by the mind.how can someone be get enlightenment by only knowlege...meditation is experience and enlightenment is beyond mind and intellect.
Can we say therefore that a finer distinction is created by dividing giving recognition to the portion of the Bramhan who will not come under the influence of Maya. The subtle body and the gross body which come under the influence of Maya (which constitutes undifferentiated consciousness) have been segregated. The portion of Bramhan under the influence of Maya and under the influence of Karma( or differentiated consciousness or masked consciousness) can be subjected to wear and tear, change. So this masked portion has to be transcended in order to transcend suffering. Non duality will also be maintained.
Expressing my indebtedness to you Swamiji for excellent illumination. I have a question here, is there any references to Buddhism in Astavakra Geeta? Which one is earlier? Rrishi Adtavakra or Goutam Buddha?
Swamiji, please hold up the front of the books and let the camera zoom in on the book covers. Or please put the name of the books in the description box so we who are listening online may know which books to buy
The problem with Vedanta is that it wants to validate Conciousness without thought. But the discourse itself is in the domain of thought and memory in which the Conciousness survives. Thought and Conciousness are therefore inseparable and hence can be held only in the field of experience. In the absence of either of them there will be nothing.
Well, to me self just means being conscious, your experience of your being conscious is your experience and yours alone but a thought itself isn't exactly your consciousness but rather something that rides along the stream of consciousness. Descartes said, " I think, therefore I am." but the truth is, " I am, therefore I think."
